“The Masked Singer” host Nick Cannon has tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus, which means he won’t be seen in at least the first few episodes of the hit Fox reality series’ fifth season. Instead, producers have tapped actress and host Niecy Nash to fill in.
Nash will take over as guest host as production begins this Thursday on Season 5 of “The Masked Singer,” and until Cannon is ready to get back to work. Cannon is currently in quarantine and resting, a rep for the star confirms exclusively to Variety. Fox expects Cannon to return to the series later in the season.
Season 5 of “The Masked Singer” is scheduled to premiere in March. Returning to the show as usual are panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke.
The celebrity musical guessing game wrapped Season 4 in December as TV’s No. 1 entertainment series, tied with NBC’s “This Is Us.

Canneseries will again this year shine a light on the up-and-coming short-form series format. Featuring promising and innovative formats which frequently end up on platforms popular among young audiences, the competition embraces new ways in which series can and are being consumed.
Emmy winning writer-producer Greg Garcia (“My Name is Earl”) heads the Short-Form Competition jury which includes French actress-director Fanny Sidney (“Mesrine”) and Norwegian actress Josefine Frida Petersen (“Skam”). The Best Short Form Series award will be handed out during the festival’s closing ceremony which will be broadcasted live on Canal Plus.
Three of the competition’s entries come from Canada – one from last year’s winning production company St Laurent TV – two from Argentina and Australia, and one each from the U.S., France and the U.K.
The series will screen April 9 and 10.

One of the favorites heading into this year’s Canneseries Short-Form Competition has to be the star-studded anthology series “Do Not Disturb,” spearheaded by the U.K.’s Pulse Films in association with Blackpills Studio.
Michael Haussman and Larry Volpi created the series, and its nine, 10-minute episodes were written by the two along with Olivia Poulet, Mike O’Leary, Nida Manzoor and Davey Spens.
“Do Not Disturb” takes the audience behind the little plastic placards we hang on hotel-room door handles when we need a nap, want to be left alone, or perhaps up to something a bit more adult, as is often the case in this show.
Some episodes are comedies, some terrifying and others sultry, but each explores the darker side of humanity that is often kept behind closed doors.
The series’ directors include Haussman, Jude Law, Jake Chapman, Mounia Akl, Dylan Southern, Will Lovelace, Zoe Casavettes and Matthew Huston.

An early shot in Lynne Ramsay‘s “You Were Never Really Here” shows a door handle in a dingy hotel on which hangs a battered sign: Do Not Disturb. It is advice Ramsay herself thrillingly fails to take with her astounding fourth feature, in which she disturbs, deconstructs and dumbfounds in equal measure. Widely anticipated as an arthouse take on Jim Thompson-esque hardboiled gritty genre fare, while it is that, it’s also very far removed from so schematic a description.

The stand-out characters of Fear The Walking Dead's first season were pretty obvious. Nick, the stringy, nervous junkie trying to scratch out a life on the edges, is a great survivor because he's used to living rough. Strand, the mysterious man in the suit, is a cool and dangerous customer, a great survivor because he knows how to read people and how to use their greed and weakness to his own advantage. They're a great pair. Strand and Nick are both experts at feeling their way through dangerous situations, Nick with drug dealers and Strand in boardrooms and hotel bars.

Fear The Walking Dead seems to have taken lessons in building quality tension from its parent show...
This review contains spoilers.
2.10 Do Not Disturb
This is the third episode of the second half of the second season of Fear The Walking Dead, and it's the third episode in a row where two scenes have been spliced together in order to compare the situation that the two lead characters face. Alicia is risking her life to save her mother and making enemies of the surviving guests of the hotel in the process, and Chris is choosing how he wants to ride out the apocalypse, either as his father's son or as part of a gang of gun-toting frat bros. As it has for the bulk of the second season, Fear The Walking Dead continues to explore the new world, and the new way to make your way in the world.

Is Chris too far gone? That was the question left with us during the closing moments of this weeks episode.
On Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 10, we finally caught back up with Travis and Chris. It turns out, they're still as boring as when we last left them.
I don't know what it is about these two, but I just can't get invested in them. I'll just chalk this up to poorly written characters.

The last two episodes were some of the better of the series. Unfortunately, this episode just wasn't up to par with them.
To be honest, I really couldn't care less about Travis and Chris' excursions. However, we did meet three new characters whose names sound like they're part of a boy band with Brandon, Derek and Baby James.
I didn't get the feeling Chris wanted to...

It ain’t easy being a Travis in a world full of Chrisses. And, in Sunday’s Fear the Walking Dead, it got even harder. Though the dutiful father tried valiantly to steer his son back from the brink of madness and amorality, the teenager did what, post-apocalypse, we’d have thought damn near impossible: He fell in with “the wrong crowd.” As a result, he wound up crossing a line over which it seems like it’ll be hard — if even possible — to cross back. What did Chris do now? Read on and find out!

Close to two years after launching its own branded content studio, Marriott is beginning to identify the formats that have worked best for its proprietary brands. One of those winning formats is Do Not Disturb, a talk show hosted by Taryn Southern. After premiering its first season last July, Do Not Disturb will soon return for a second rendition, Tubefilter has learned exclusively.
In each episode of Do Not Disturb, Southern meets one of her friends from the online video community in a hotel room for a candid slumber party complete with PJs and minibar beverages. The eight-episode first season included guest appearances from some of the most popular creators on YouTube, including Flula Borg, Mamrie Hart, and Lisa Schwartz.
Do Not Disturb is specifically sponsored by Marriott’s Moxy Hotels chain. The show’s sophomore season will take place in two of Moxy’s newest properties: One in New Orleans and another in Berlin.

6.16 Where Somebody Waits For Me & 6.17 We've All Got Baggage
It wasn't an extensive source of information, but the flash-forward glimpsed at the end of season 6A did tell us a couple of things about what was coming - Alison was going to get married to a mysterious 'Rollins' fella, and there would be some unknown force making trouble for the Liars once they were back in Rosewood. We're rapidly approaching that eventuality, and the path to at least one of those things has started to reveal itself.
'A' aka Evil Emoji aka devil face, for the most part, has taken a back seat this season, with the mystery focusing instead on Charlotte's murder. We're pretty sure that,...

Watching the Liars interact and finally gain some control over their lives is the real fun of Pretty Little Liars' time jump...
This review contains spoilers.
6.14 New Guys, New Lies & 6.16 Do Not Disturb
Let's talk about the new 'A', or whatever it is we're calling them now. The new big bad of season 6B and beyond is a little bit rubbish, and I'm not entirely sure whether that's intentional or not. Maybe it's a generational thing, and younger Pretty Little Liars fans love the new emoji texts, or maybe we're not supposed to think this person measures up to either Mona or Charlotte in threat-level or cleverness.
They also appear to be one step behind in a way their predecessors never were, with the Liars' efforts to turn things around on their new tormentor actually appearing to work. Yes, Caleb is a whiz on the computer...

Previously on Pretty Little Liars, Ezra was accused of murder. Also, Sara Harvey was accused of murder. Oh, and then Byron was accused of murder. Just a whole bunch of murder accusations flying around! Basically, the complete opposite of Oprah giving away cars. You get a murder accusation! And you get a murder accusation!
Pretty Little Liars does have their slower episodes that lay exposition for weeks to come, but this episode feels like it goes on forever. "Do Not Disturb" is very Sara Harvey-centric. If this episode was a drinking game, and viewers had to take a drink every time Sara Harvey was mentioned, we'd all be in trouble. Luckily, we're all responsible drinkers, unlike Ezra Fitz.

Title: Une heure de tranquillité (Do Not Disturb) Director: Patrice Leconte Starring: Christian Clavier, Carole Bouquet, Valerie Bonneton, Stephane De Groodt, Rossy de Palma, Arnaud Henriet, Sebastien Castro. Director Patrice Leconte adapts Florian Zeller’s hit stage play ‘Une heure de tranquilité’ for the big screen. The film, just like its inspirer, enhances the luxury of solitude: the moment we crave so much for ourselves, that is conquered with incommensurable plight. Through the traditional French farce, ‘Do Not Disturb’ tells the story of Michel Leproux who finds a rare vinyl by Niel Youart — Me, Myself and I — and the minute he gets home wants to be left alone to [ Read More ]

Ever since The Walking Dead hit the small screen and became a worldwide hit, the horror genre has invaded the TV landscape – sometimes for the best (Hannibal) and other times, not so good (Bates Motel). Of the bunch, American Horror Story leads the pack in terms of delivering the bloodiest and most disgusting visuals, sometimes so sick, it can make even the most hardcore horror aficionado gag. The anthology series, from the co-creator of Glee, no less, isn’t shy to push boundaries, and this year they’re moving away from covens, asylums, and the circus and taking you inside one of the creepiest hotels ever put on screen.

Alejandro González Iñárritu is still picking up awards in the wake of the Oscar-winning "Birdman." Tuesday night he was on hand in Los Angeles for the Sundance Institute Celebration, honoring him with the Vanguard Leadership Award, and his comments on the state of film and entertainment were as pointed as they were in the text of last year's Best Picture winner. "Some people are now calling films 'content,' or even 'the pipeline,'" he said after accepting the award from "Selma" director Ava DuVernay. "Yes, like the ones used for the conveyance of gas or petroleum for its mass consumption. A great amount of films produced every year are considered that: content to fill the corporate pipelines." His and his co-writers' Oscar-winning original screenplay for "Birdman" took Hollywood to task in its own way with a portrait of ego and the drive to create something of value. The story...

The third season release of Major Crimes is hitting May 26th, and I’ve got your opportunity to win one of three copies of the DVD!
The show, a spin-off of The Closer, has been doing well since it premiered, and the third season was the #3 scripted drama on basic cable.
Moreover, despite not kicking off all that well, it’s a show that has grown into itself, and found a more solid base of existence. The quality has grown in many respects, and the cases were far more interesting in the third season.
Mary McDonnell seems more comfortable, due in large part to the writing giving her a broader base of character to work with.
If you aren’t caught up, now is the perfect chance to get ready for the fourth season.
Take a look at more info on the season, and enter to win your copy!

Crowds gather outside the Gaumont Opera for a special screening of Patrice Leconte’s Do Not Disturb (Une heure de tranquillité)
In a city that is putting on its bravest of faces in the wake of last week’s terror attacks the annual Unifrance Rendez-vous with French Cinema opened last night at the Gaumont Opera cinema on one of the Parisian grands boulevards with a classic French farce.
Based on Florian Zeller’s stage piece which in turn had its roots in Simon Gray’s play Otherwise Engaged, Do Not Disturb features local comic hero Christian Clavier, reunited with director Patrice Leconte, as a well-heeled dentist desperate to listen to a newly purchased rare long play record of a 1958 New Orleans jazz session. The scene is set for a string of interruptions, which turn the bourgeois apartment in to a battleground of emotions as home truths are bared. Among the ingredients are a mistress,...

Annual event set to showcase 90 French productions, 48 of them market premieres.
Unifrance’s annual Rendez-vous with French Cinema in Paris will kick-off as planned on Thursday (Jan 15), a week after a series of terrorist attacks, in which 17 people were killed, rocked the capital.
France remains on high alert after the shooting of 12 people at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, by two radicalised brothers offended by its cartoon depictions of the Islamic prophet Mohammed; the shooting of a police woman and the slaughter of four people at a kosher supermarket in the east of the city.
The French government announced on Monday that it was deploying 10,000 troops to protect vulnerable sites across the country — including Jewish schools and neighbourhoods – amid news that security forces believed at least six members of the terrorist cell that plotted the attacks may still be at large.
Charlie Hebdo’s surviving staff have responded to the attack with a new edition of the...
