• Kenshin Himura : Shishio's logic dictates that the winner of a battle, in other words, the strong, is always correct, that it does. If the truth could be discovered by winning one or two battles, then we'd all go through life without ever being wrong. A person's life isn't so simple a matter, that it isn't. The true answer is something you find out yourself by how you live your life from this day forward, that it is.

• Aoshi Shinomori : [shocked]  What in the world are you doing, Battousai?

  Kenshin Himura : The laundry. Isn't it obvious?

  Aoshi Shinomori : Do you... do this sort of thing often?

  Kenshin Himura : It's part of my daily routine, on days when it's not raining.

  Aoshi Shinomori : Your routine?

  Kenshin Himura : Yeah, I'm just a wanderer now, so I do what I can to help out. I actually find it rather enjoyable.

• Kenshin Himura : [both sitting in silence staring at a wall]  Aoshi?

  Aoshi Shinomori : Yes?

  Kenshin Himura : You find this enjoyable, do you?

  Kenshin Himura : Oh, I was just rummaging.

  Misao Makimachi : Unbelievable, my attacks aren't working on him. He must be some kind of monster.

• Hajime Saitoh : Totsu can look after the boy for us.

  Kenshin Himura : Who's Totsu?

  Hajime Saitoh : My wife...

  Kenshin Himura : [shocked]  You're married, Saitoh! I had no idea!

  Hajime Saitoh : Anyway, she can handle him. She's a very patient woman.

  Misao Makimachi : She'd have to be to put up with him.

  Kenshin Himura : Yeah, she must be like a female Buddha...

• Kenshin Himura : [as Battousai, after being asked to speak alone]  I'm not the only one involved in this anymore.

  [punches himself in the face, then as Kenshin]

• Kenshin Himura : [about the man who asked him to go to Kyoto with questionable intentions]  There's one thing I'm sure of: if he was acting purely out of self interest Saitoh would have killed him long ago. Even in the Meji era, he's still a Wolf of Nebu.

• Kenshin Himura : If you require an opponent, I will fight you. If you want to taste the ground, feel free to attack me.
