This is a rather different view in Russian crime film-making, directed by Oleg Fomin. The main character is sufferer (or Mytar an old Russian word for publicans), who works as a publican, lives alone and drinks too much. He is very experienced person and has an unknown gift, he foresees the future and reads his enemies' mind easily, so the police often asks him to help in the hardest investigations. This time a businessman and mafia chairman faces great problems, so he asks Mytar to take care of his madam daughter while danger is over. It takes little time for Mytar to fascinate the buisnessman's daughter but he still remembers why he was paid and stays cold and independent with that girl. Mytar does his best to prevent any negative things happen to the girl. He teaches her to control instincts and emotions and shows a lot of life tricks. They fell in love with each other and that love makes them even stronger. Mytar still has addiction to alcohol and goes to a friend of his, a real healer. That old man lives almost in the thrash, but makes miracles by means of natural herbs and special rituals. So the old healer releases Mytar from addiction during one session. After that some typical Russian crime situations happen. The really mystic moment we can see in the end, where the dead father speaks to Mytar in morgue. That scene even gives some creeps. But after all this is a good and positive crime fairytale to see.
