Let’s Talk About Chu is Netflix’s latest addition to its plethora of Asian romantic shows that keep you from ditching the platform. I know you’ve thought about it. Somehow, the streaming giant manages to hold global appeal thanks to the unique little shows and films it brings to the platform. Let’s Talk About Chu could very loosely be called Taiwan’s Sex Education. However, I don’t actually think there’s anything similar between the shows except for a lead who educates their friends and families about intimacy and relationships (at least here she’s female and not a complete prick), but I can see why the comparisons have been made. Let’s Talk About Chu mainly revolves around Chu Ai, a sex-positive mini-adult who is navigating the ups and downs of adulting in this day and age. She spends her days as a wax technician and her evenings...

Since hip-hop's inception, the culture has been a male-dominated space. Women have had to fight for their right to exist alongside their male peers, exercise autonomy over their bodies, and rap without restrictions. It's no secret that the culture of hip-hop is inherently fueled by misogyny and patriarchy; female rappers have been ostracized, while their male counterparts stand to gain. But in recent years, an influx of women rappers have emerged, ushering in a resurgence of sexually explicit lyrics that have jolted mainstream music, social media, and even politics. Yes, women in music have always talked about their sexual prowess; women rappers are simply continuing a long and strong tradition of Black women loudly reclaiming their own sexuality, most notably under the umbrella of "pussy rap."

Bill Maher and his guests channeled Salt-n-Pepa Friday night on HBO’s Real Time, as the theme of the night was “Let’s Talk About Sex.” Specifically, who is a woman, who has the right to determine a woman’s health and athletic requirements, and whether it’s a smart move to go after Donald Trump over sex-related crimes.
This week’s panel discussion included Democratic Congresswoman from California Katie Porter, and host of “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Piers Morgan.
Maher raised the hot-button issued of Dylan Mulvaney, the transgender Bud Light and Nike influencer whose endorsement deals have become a polarizing issue in the last week. “Why the overreaction to this?” Maher asked. “Is there something else to this story?” He added that a lot of Americans are angry because they feel “they’ve had an agenda shoved down their throat. Do they have a point?”

Alfred Hitchcock’s magnum opus film, Psycho is returning to cinemas from today, 27th May. This stunning 4K restoration of the original theatrical cut includes an extra 13 seconds of restored footage – so it can once again be seen as it was originally shown in cinemas back in 1960, exactly as intended by Hitchcock. To celebrate, here are ten things you probably didn’t know about Psycho:
Melon-terror! What did Alfred Hitchcock use to create an authentically terrifying stabbing sound? A melon. Specifically, a casaba melon. Hitchcock and his sound guy are said to have tested all kinds of melons before settling on the casaba – its thick skin gives a denser sound than other varieties. This, combined with a slab of steak, proved the perfect combination. Body Double: in the iconic shower scene, Playboy cover girl Marli Renfro had the uncredited role of Janet Leigh’s body double – and it is her...

To finish his first album in 12 years, Girl Talk had to do something he’d never done before. Not just from a creative standpoint, though Full Court Press — a collaborative album with Wiz Khalifa, Smoke Dza, and Big K.R.I.T. out April 8 via Asylum/Taylor Gang — is a marked departure from the producer/DJ’s wildly popular mashup albums. No, the challenge Full Court Press presented was a hurdle that none of those years of mashups prepared him for: clearing samples.

Girl Talk, the late-aughts master of the mash-up, has linked up with Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T., and Smoke Dza for a new song, “Put You On,” from their upcoming album, Full Court Press, set to arrive April 8 via Asylum/Taylor Gang.
“Put You On” finds Girl Talk pairing a warm sample of soul vocals and strings with big drums and booming bass — the perfect backdrop for all three MCs to unspool their verses. The track also arrives with an eye-popping animated music video directed by Lisa Ramsey.

After working for several years as an employment lawyer in Indianapolis, the artist known as Fennec decided to apply to graduate school. “I loved learning and reading about law, politics, and economics, but was kind of checked out and unfocused when I originally went to college,” he says on a call earlier this month. Grad school seemed like a way to find what he describes as a “second wind,” and he landed a spot at the University of Texas, Austin, studying public policy. In 2021, he moved there with his girlfriend,...

Betty White, the Emmy-winning TV star who had a remarkable later-career resurgence in films, TV commercials and the hit series “The Golden Girls” and “Hot in Cleveland,” has died. She was 99.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a death investigation on the 500 block of N. Carmelina Ave. in Los Angeles at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning. White would have celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 17. White is believed to have died Thursday night at her Brentwood home.
White’s agent and close friend Jeff Witjas confirmed her death to Variety. “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” Witjas said in a statement. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.

If you’re following the buzz out of Tribeca this year, you probably know that the 20th edition of the festival will open with “In the Heights,” screening in all five boroughs. You might know that the closing night entry, an untitled concert film featuring Dave Chappelle, will take place at Radio City Music Hall with full capacity. For 12 days, from June 9 to 20, 66 feature films will screen all over the city at outdoor venues, marking one of the first big media events since New York began to reopen. But even that sizable lineup doesn’t fully encapsulate the curation on display.
For years, one of Tribeca’s strongest suits has been its immersive programming, which includes VR, Ar, and interactive experiences. As new media creators continue to create more groundbreaking work that takes advantage of cutting-edge technology, Tribeca’s programming has been at the forefront of showcasing many of the strongest examples.

Some actors spend their whole lives trying to separate themselves from the roles that made them famous. But Soleil Moon Frye doesn’t roll like that.

Now that she’s all grown up with kids of her own, Frye says the Peacock revival has allowed her to tap into a wave of nostalgia she likely shares with fans.

Mumbai, Nov 3 (Ians) Actress Rishina Kandhari was recently seen in a female-led digital series, which she says breaks stereotypes about how women are looked at.
The series, "Girl Talk", also starred Aarti Khetarpal, Aditi Shetty, Shweta Rohira, Harshali Zine and Iira Soni.
"The lines were powerful and broke every stereotype about how women are looked upon as. Women are in no competition with anyone, so it was amazing to speak the mind without sugar coating," said Rishina.
Talking about "Girl Talk", director Aneeta Patel said: "The title says it all. 'Girl Talk' is for all the women out there — age is no bar. These girls are independent alpha women of today who are unapologetic. It is also for the guys who are curious to know what goes on behind closed doors. I have to confess, to start this review, that I have a slight bias for this show as I personally appear in the background as an extra and I was also invited to the Welsh premier screening… but I will try to remain as unbiased as possible. Sex Education is a coming-of-age comedy, a Netflix original series that shows the stresses and anxieties facing many young people today in a comical but extremely real way. The show explores the idea of the sexuality of young people and how this can be an extremely difficult time as they develop; and because of this, the show contains very strong sexual reference and imagery which is probably not appropriate for a young audience, instead I would say more so for a teenage audience and older. It’s an extremely easy watch with comedy integrated throughout, sitting alongside some very hard-hitting and serious topics.

Girl Talk is a weekly look at women in film — past, present and future.
Early in the second act of Nicolas Winding Refn’s blood-soaked Hollywood nightmare, “The Neon Demon,” Ruby, the seemingly well-meaning makeup artist portrayed by Jena Malone, gently reminds Jesse, the dewy young model portrayed by Elle Fanning, about the importance of female friendships.
“It’s good to have good girls around,” Ruby coos. Jesse nods in agreement, her body and face still glistening with the gold body paint that sleazy-but-famous photographer Jack (Desmond Harrington) smeared all over her during a particularly racy photo shoot.
It’s a sweet moment. Ruby appears to lean into a maternal role for Jesse, who might need some help navigating her new industry. But soon Jesse balks, firing off a terse comment about not being as helpless as Ruby thinks and stalking away from her apparently concerned friend.
Later, Ruby’s words prove prescient,...
