String that Banjo with Cat Gut
This Felix the Cat cartoon shows up on the British Pathe Youtube site. It is among the weakest of the series as Felix leaves the snowy north to to visit Dixie. There he encounters the characters of Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel and gets into a wrangle with Simon Legree.
Although there are a fair number of Felix' "transformation" gags, they seem disjointed for the series. Frankly, it appears that this one was cut and reedited for distribution in the sound era (it carried the Kopfstein logo and features an annoying soundtrack).
The one surprising point is an elaborate background when Felix enters Dixie, surrounded by fields of sunflowers and cotton bolls. Although this one is certainly watchable by the standards of the era, it will be a severe disappointment for fans of the black cat.
