Sex & Nudity

  • When Mrs. Potato Head is announced at the end of the film, Mr. Spell types "HUBBA HUBBA!" when cheering on Mr. Potato Head for getting what he wanted, a reference to a common expression for viewing someone as sexually attractive.
  • Various mild innuendos.

Violence & Gore

  • Woody slaps Buzz in the face with his dismembered arm.
  • Sid blows up a toy soldier.
  • Sid burns woody's head with a magnifying glass, leaving a small burn mark.
  • Mr. Potato Head gets knocked into pieces in a few scenes, but it's slapstick.
  • Woody is crushed by a suitcase.
  • Mild slapstick/cartoon violence.
  • Woody and Buzz get into a fight.

Profanity

  • When Buzz says "Blast!" after looking at his broken spaceship, his lips actually say "Damn!".
  • One use of "damn" during the Shakes the Rattle deleted scene.
  • After Buzz tells Woody "I think the word you're searching for is 'space ranger'", Woody replies "The word I'm searching for, I can't say, because there's preschool toys present." This strongly implies that he wanted to call Buzz a profane word.
  • Hand-in-the-Box (one of Sid's mutant toys) makes the "OK" hand gesture twice: once when Woody is explaining his plan details, and again when he is complementing the other mutant toys. In Spain and several other foreign countries, this is vulgar and has the same meaning as the middle finger. In the United States, it is a symbol of white supremacy.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Sid's dad is seen sleeping alongside cans of beer.
  • Andy's mom is seen drinking alcohol when Andy's friends were in the house
  • There is a scene where Buzz is having a tea party and is slurring his words, implying that he is drunk off of tea.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Scud Phillips (Sid's dog) chases Woody and Buzz in a fun, but intense ride.
  • Hannah freaks out when Sid replaces the head of her doll with a pterodactyl's.
  • Sid has creepy looking toys that come to life.
  • As Rex's introduction to the audience, he jumps in front of the camera and roars straight into the lens while an eerie chord plays in the score.
  • Sid blows up a Kombat Karl with a small explosive. The debris flies back at Andy's window (we don't see anything but the debris) and the camera briefly shakes.
  • Woody frightens Buzz by accident.
  • Despite some name-calling/insults it's safe for young kids to watch.
  • Sid can be disturbing to some people.
  • When we are first introduced to Sid, he blows up a Combat Carl (we don't see anything except debris flying towards Andy's house and Andy's toys ducking for cover). If you have a surround sound system, the LFE hits extremely hard during the explosion and may permanently traumatize children or pets.
  • This CGI movie of Pixar Animation studio is very family friendly for G-rated movie.
  • For preschoolers/kids.
  • Woody acts very brash and rude towards buzz during the movie.

Spoilers

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Philips family owns a bull terrier dog which often appears quite scary. In one scene it bites into an alien doll and tears it apart while the toy (which is sentient) squeaks repeatedly. In other scenes the dog chases Woody while drooling and baring sharp teeth.
  • In the end, Woody comes to life in front of Sid and says "So play nice" after all of Sid's toys surround him.
