Shah Rukh Khan has been a star ever since he arrived, singing loudly Koi Na Koi Chahiye Pyaar Karne Wala in the 1992 released film Deewana. The lead role in blockbuster spy action film “Pathaan” was the fulfilment of a promise made by producer Aditya Chopra 30 years ago, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has revealed.
“Pathaan” is produced by Yash Raj Films (Yrf), founded by the late Yash Chopra, of which Aditya Chopra is now the head.
In 1993, Khan was shooting Yrf’s “Darr,” in which he played the antagonist. “One day, it was Adi’s [Aditya Chopra] birthday, and he asked me if I will do a film and I said ‘I would love to do it,’ and then he narrated something where I would be an action hero,” Khan said in a statement. “Because I was doing ‘Darr’ as well, I also got excited about it. Then three-four years later, he called and said I am coming to narrate an action film. I really wanted to play an action hero because no one was offering me that genre.

Jatin Pandit, one half of the now-disbanded composer duo Jatin-Lalit, releases his first non-film single, "Dhadakte rehna" on Friday. The video of the song, incidentally, stars his son Raahul Jatin.
"My son Raahul Jatin heard the composition and loved it. The song started growing on us, that's when Raahul suggested that I should record this and release it as an independent single," says Jatin.
The romantic ballad is composed, sung and penned by Jatin Pandit. The music video, featuring Raahul with Jessica Lopez, is directed by Harper Gahunia and is shot in California, US.
"I was waiting for some people to join me in my studio, (so) I just picked my guitar and this hook line started flowing through me. I instantly recorded the tune and completely enjoyed creating it," Jatin adds.
"I'm glad that all aspects worked out in spite of the Covid situation, and now we are going to release it.

While we get to watch new films all the time, the lockdown could be a golden chance to catch up with a few classics across genres. Digital platforms are overflowing with them, and you would literally be spoilt for choice selecting some really enjoyable stuff that has come out of Bollywood over the decades. Twenty-one days, it would seem, is too short a time to catch up with what really defines vintage Bollywood and is available in the Ott libraries.
Ians picks a few old films that you might want to revisit, that will let you relax and bust the stress of lockdown. Of course, this is not a definitive list.
* Chupke Chupke (1975)
Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the comedy film is about a man pretending to be a driver and fooling his wife's brother-in-law as an attempt to prove that the brother-in-law is not as smart as he claims to be.

Long before Shah Rukh Khan became the reigning Badshah of Bollywood, the superstar had worked with ace director Kundan Shah (best known for his cult comedy Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro) in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. And it was during the film’s shoot that the director was bowled over by Srk’s sweet gesture.
Recalling the incident, Kundan Shah – who is currently looking forward to his dark comedy P Se Pm Tak – shares that he had gone to a bookstore where he had liked a few books immensely. But when it came to billing, he realized that they cost a little over two thousand rupees, not a small amount back in the ‘90s. So, the filmmaker left the books, hoping to collect them at a later time. Later that day, at the shoot, he happened to recount what happened at the bookstore to Shah Rukh. And to his surprise, the very next day,...

They say dreams maketh a man. If one person has adequately proved the idiom to be totally correct, it is Shah Rukh Khan. From a nobody in the past to possibly the most recognizable face of Bollywood today, he has certainly come a long way. The story of his accession to the throne of Bollwyood has been discussed million times and is well-known. What is still intriguing is the manner in which he has influenced the face of Hindi Film Industry in a career spanning two decades. His contribution to the Indian cinema is what must be acknowledged on his birthday.
In a post-liberated India high on economic reforms, emerged an actor who could portray obsession with utter conviction and style. This contrasted with the orthodox presentation of heroes in Hindi movies in the past. It broke the set rules. Suddenly the negative attribute of a lead actor became the flavor of the season.
