Shah Rukh Khan’s Darr ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
The first time Shah Rukh Khan worked with Yash Chopra in a Yrf movie was in 1993 for Darr. The superstar, who’s called the King of Romance and has given such romantic hits for the production house, started his journey with them in a negative role. In Chopra’s film, Srk played Rahul, an obsessed, one-sided lover who would go to any extent to win a girl. The movie also stars Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla.
When one thinks of Darr, one will never forget the chilling scene where Rahul craves Kiran’s name on his chest with a knife. The bleeding chest and the madness and rage in his eyes are what make the scene stand out. We cannot imagine anyone else except Shah Rukh Khan playing the obsessive lover. But did you know another actor was offered the role? And...

We all know Sunny Deol and his famous tale of getting cheated upon by Yash Chopra, who promised Sunny to be the hero of Darr but made the film all about Shah Rukh Khan and presented it as an anti-hero film. However, good things happen to honest souls.
So, in a very karmic sort of way, Sunny Paaji got all the attention and his due as the hero in a film that changed the way his career was proceeding. And the film where everyone thought that the Gadar actor’s casting was a disastrous choice.
Sunny Deol was the supporting lead for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Damini. The duo had previously worked together in Ghayal, and when Santoshi was making Damini, Sunny was not the obvious choice. In fact, Om Puri was the original...

Pankaj Udhas earned his first accolade as a singer when he was 11 years old. He sang the patriotic song ‘Ae mere watan ke logon’ at a public event in his hometown Rajkot when the Sino-Indian War was raging in 1962, and he so impressed a member of the audience that he gifted the young singer what was then a princely sum of Rs 51.

In a surprising turn of events, it has been revealed that Sunny Deol, not Aamir Khan, will be the lead actor in the upcoming film by Rajkumar Santoshi. Aamir Khan, who was earlier reported to have signed a two-film deal with Santoshi, will only be producing the film in collaboration with Karim Morani. The film is said to be a family entertainer and is expected to go on floors in March 2023.
This will mark the reunion of Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi after a long gap of 26 years. The duo had delivered blockbuster hits like Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak in the 90s, but had a fallout later. However, they have now buried the hatchet and are looking forward to working together again.

Just out of the success of his ‘Gadar 2’, Sunny Deol is grabbing headlines all round. The beeline at his office has started again after almost two decades to sign him up. After all, heroes like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan are all knocking on the sixties and have been ruling the roost in the Hindi film industry. Unfortunately, lately their careers have remained fickle. Consistency is lacking in the box-office outcome of their films.
Just when the filmmakers contemplate giving up on them, they turn up one successful film which gives them another couple of years of career extension. Of course, this success enjoys the added advantage of inflated box-office figures. Let alone the public, but even other filmmakers get taken in by these!

Photo: Amanda Gorman/Super Bowl 22-year-old Amanda Gorman made history again as the first poet to ever perform at the Super Bowl, just one month after her awe-inspiring performance at President Biden’s inauguration ceremony. Before the coin toss at Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the title-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gorman recited her original poem, “Chorus of the Captains,” in a previously taped segment. Written to honor the three people who were chosen as honorary captains by the NFL, the poem highlighted their achievements and “tremendous impact during an unprecedented year.” The three honorees were Trimaine Davis, a teacher in Los Angeles who assisted his students in getting laptops for their remote education, Suzie Dorner, an ICU nurse manager in Tampa who works with Covid-19 patients, and James Martin, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Pittsburgh who volunteers with the Wounded Warrior Project and works with...

Okay admit it. Are you in this for a strong message and a sturdy storyline? Then you are in the wrong theatre. If it’s not too late, go exchange your ticket and watch Thappad or Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Because that’s where all the drama is.
If you are in this for the action, then you are in the right place. Baaghi 3 has outstanding stunts by the Fearless Nadia of modern times Tiger Shroff. Unlike the Stunt Queen of the Silent Era there is nothing even remotely silent about Tiger. And hell, he’s got better muscles than Nadia for sure!
Ploughing through two-and-a-half hours of boom-boom and rat-a-tat, smashed bones and gnashing teeth I was struck by how much fluency Tiger brings to the ferocity. I just didn’t want the stunts to stop.

Tiger Shroff is on a winning spree. And what better way to bolster his brand than another Baaghi film? Having nailed the action in the first two films Tiger, with choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khan at the helm, unleashes what looks like a millennial version of Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Ghayal.
Tiger plays the street-smart fist-friendly rebooted version of Sunny Deol, while Ritesh Deshmukh is the doting brother who gets kidnapped in, ahem, Syria, (the film is actually shot in Serbia). The Baaghi franchise is characterized by a kidnapping incident. In the first Baaghi film it was Tiger’s girlfriend who got kidnapped. In Baaghi 2, it was his daughter. This time it is his brother. Next time it might be the producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

It's Kabir Khan's film for Salman Khan next Eid. While for Diwali 2017, Salman is doing Raj Kumar Santoshi's next which Salman's sister Alvira will produce. Salman Khan loves to do the unexpected. Whispers from Galaxy, his home in Bandra Mumbai, suggested that Salman would no longer work in his family's home productions. This belief was further strengthened when Arbaaz Khan's Dabangg 3 was put on hold. But now Salman is doing a film for his family again. Yes, he will star in a film to be produced by his sister Alvira and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri. Most surprisingly this film, to be released during Diwali 2017, will be directed by Salman's Andaz Apna Apna director Raj Kumar Santoshi. The brilliant director of Lajja, Damini, Ghayal and Ghatak has been out of circulation for several years. His last directed film was the failed comedy Phata Poster Nikla Hero in 2013, after which...

The first-half of Sunny Deol’s admirable but finally undone sequel to the 1990 hit Ghayal is so riveting that one is hoodwinked into believing that we are on to something remarkably well-packaged over here.
Wrong! The second-half comes on like a tornado to wipe out all the good that is achieved earlier. And initially there is plenty that is done with edge-of-the-seat heart-in-the-mouth adeptness as we are introduced to our hero 14 years after he was incarcerated for killing Balwant Rai, played by Amrish Puri in the 1990 hit Ghayal.
New era. New villain. Same hero. This time Ajay Mehra, older and far more distraught than he was 14 years ago (he is psychiatric medication) takes on a corporate tycoon named Raj Bansal, played by Narendra Jha who was so compelling as Tabu’s missing husband in Haider. Here, the rhythm required from Jha is different and he tries hard to find his bearings.

The sequel to Sunny Deol's 90's film Ghayal, was set to see the light of day, however the release of the film was again postponed for reasons best known to the maker. Now we hear that Ghayal Once Again will finally release on February 5, with Reliance Entertainment stepping in to distribute the film in India, while B4U will distribute the film internationally.
However, if rumours are to be believed, we hear that Sunny Deol has gone to great lengths to ensure that the film releases. In fact Sunny has mortgaged his preview theatre Sunny Super Sound to fund the making and subsequent release of the film. On the distribution part, it is being said that though Sunny was in talks with Viacom 18 to distribute the film, the deal fell through after the corporate production house made it clear that they would only release the film and not present it,...

Poor Sunny Deol! His Ghayal Once Again seems to be living up to its title. The project, meant to revive Sunny's glorious innings in the past when Ghayal ripped open the box offfice, is being shuttled from pillar to post. The latest development is that it has been shifted from January 15 to February 5 so that Sunny would have more time to promote the film. Not only is a star of his stature, with a following in North India that could put politicians to shame, reduced to selling his new film from channel to channel on television, he also had to go through the experience of waiting for hours for Salman to show up to shoot for 'Bigg Boss'. Sunny finally left in a huff. But he had to return to fulfil his marketing obligations towards his new release Ghayal Once Again. Then on Kapil Sharma's show...

Sunny Deol who decided to direct a film starring him in a lead role, after a long hiatus, announced the sequel to the popular 90s film Ghayal, titled as Ghayal Once Again. The film which went on floors last year was slated to release during Diwali but has been postponed. The delay in the release date has given rise to many speculations including that the makers were trying to avoid a clash with the Sooraj Barjatya-Salman Khan film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Though the postponement of the date has been confirmed by the Ghayal Once Again co-producer Suniel Saini, he rubbishes that the clash has anything to do with it. Reasoning that it is the VFX work that is responsible for the change, Saini further added that Sunny Deol is striving to get the editing and VFX part perfect. 30 Years after he did Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ghayal and Rahul Rawail's Arjun, Sunny Deol continues to be the archetypal anti-establishment hero of the masses. Proof of this lies in the song that Sunny has been shooting along with 4 newcomers in the sequel to Ghayal. The song replicates the mood of the popular 'Mamaiyaa kero kero mama' number that Sunny Deol sang and danced to, on the streets of Mumbai with his co-stars Satyajeet and Raja Bundela in Arjun in 1985. Ahmed Khan, who has choreographed the new number in Ghayal Returns says, "The new song has the same feel as 'Kero mama' in Arjun. Except that Sunny is older and wiser. There are two young girls and two boys joining Sunny in the song and dance." The number is shot on a college campus. Sunny plays a professor who impels his students to fight crime and injustice. Ahmed was...

With Ghayal being a turning point in Sunny Deol's career, the action star decided to revive the memories and continue the film by making it a franchise of sorts. Though the actor has stayed mum over the turn of events related to the second installment, we hear that Sunny is making an extra effort to make Ghayal Returns, yet another landmark in his career. From shooting on real locations to hiring a Hollywood stunt co-ordinator, Ghayal Returns will be having a lot more novel elements compared to its prequel. Sunny Deol has roped in The Bourne Legacy fame Dan Bradley to create some unique action sequences for Ghayal Returns. Moreover, it is being said that, unlike the recent trend, Sunny wants to underplay in the stunt department and avoid over the top stunts. While the prequel had Meenakshi Sheshadri playing the female lead, Ghayal Returns will see Soha Ali Khan...

There is something to be said about that 'dhaai kilo ka haath' which Sunny Deol patented in well-made action films like "Ghatak", "Ghayal" and "Gadar - Ek Prem Katha". Lately, his career was eclipsed by wrong choices. Maybe, the 'haath' (hand) was not in the right place.
Back in form with a bang in "Singh Saab The Great", Sunny delivers a wallop. Looking every inch the Sardar in-charge, he furnishes the film with a flair that is quite engaging. No, he doesn't wrench off a hand-pump to thrash.

The prolific Rajkumar Santoshi who is ready to release his comic actioner Phata Poster Nikhla Hero is appalled and bewildered by reports that he is all set to make a sequel to his 1994 comedy Andaz Apna Apna, and that he's unable to do because the film's producer has the rights. The producer Mr Vinay Sinha is a gentleman. I have a letter of consent from him to go ahead with the sequel whenever I want to." However, Santoshi just doesn't want to attempt a sequel to the cult comedy. "I don't see the need to go into that subject again. Contrary to reports I am not working on a subject for a sequel. With the opening weekend of ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2′ not really setting the box office on fire, there was a scare factor around the film nose-diving in the weekdays.
