There's a lot to unpack in this week's news that, 25 years after its demise, the groundbreaking dreamscape of "Twin Peaks" will be returning in 2016 as a nine-episode mini-series on Showtime. In this one news nugget, there's so many conclusions to be drawn about how much TV has changed in the last quarter century, what the medium is like now, and what viewers can and do expect from TV dramas these days. So pour yourself some damn fine coffee, dig into a slice of pie, and read on.
1. The medium to which the series is returning is one that "Twin Peaks" itself profoundly changed. For viewers too young to remember, it's hard to convey just how weird and wonderful "Twin Peaks" seemed when it appeared on network TV in 1990. On the surface, it seemed a pop-savvy blend of some favorite genres (murder mystery, nighttime soap, 1950s-style teen melodrama), but it unfurled...

Sleepy Hollow gives the Headless Horseman a shotgun and the shotgun appears to fire explosive rounds. Three people get their heads cut off in the first half hour. There are frequent flashbacks to scenes that happened ten minutes ago. Also, you know how throughout American history there have been witch trials, which historians retroactively consider the result of mass hysteria? Turns out all those witches were actually witches. None of these things even come close to being the kookiest part of the series premiere of Sleepy Hollow, a crazypants — and entertaining, if you squint — hour of television. Our critic Jeff Jensen...

"Paranormal Activity 3" rocked the box office last weekend, and it looks like next October we may be able to find out what happened to Katie and Hunter — a fourth installment in the supernatural chiller is possibly heading our way. (Duh!)
With record-breaking numbers like "PA3's" it's no shocker that Paramount's Don Harris told The Wrap, "I can't imagine that we wouldn't make a number four, and I imagine [Paramount Film Group president] Adam Goodman this morning is thinking about the challenge. I'm sure he's thinking, 'Now what do I do?'" Where do you think they'll take the storyline from here?
Ponder that while you hit the jump to read the rest of this week's horror news.

Billing itself as “the spookiest show on earth” Horrorfind Weekend 13 took place last weekend from September 2-4. The convention held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania included a spooky car show, a horror shorts film festival, Scaryoke, a zombie prom, and a costume contest. Celebrity appearances included Ken Foree form Dawn Of The Dead (1978), Sid Haig and Bill Moseley from House Of 1000 Corpses (2003), Scout Taylor-Compton from Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007), Rowdy Roddy Piper, and various members of the cast of True Blood. The biggest draw was probably director John Waters and his show “This Filthy Horror” on Friday night. There was a chance to meet Mr. Waters before the show and get an autograph or photo. Unfortunately the organizers of Horrorfind dropped the ball on this one.
The original plan for the signing was that it was open to anyone who was a paying guest of the convention.

Uh Oh. It's Going To Be A Stream Of Consciousness Column. Buckle Up!
Man, you take a couple of days off and you get the gayest Emmy nominations ever and about a zillion other things happen that I need to catch up and comment on. How to cover it all?
Hmm, how about I just open my mind up and do it stream of consciousness style? Things might sort of leap all over the place, but it should be interesting. Ready, here we go. Prying open subconscious and...
Nooo! It's awful in here! So cold and dark and empty! Aieeee!
Oh, wait. I actually opened Mary Cheney's soul. How did that happen?
So where did the Flying Monkey (that would be Brent, my partner) and I go last week that kept me from writing the Bgwe? A couple hours north of where we live are the San Juan Islands which...

The TV network AMC is coming up with a zombie drama series based on the “The Walking Dead” comic series and director Frank Darabont is helming it. Our trusted source 'Pinche Taco' managed to get a hold of the script and some dirt on the show as well. Here is what 'Pinche Taco' tells us.Hola Chicos, Pinche Taco here with the latest blatherings de nada de los Ninos de Hollywood! Some of you people may have seen that AMC is working on a television show based on the popular comic book The Walking Dead. This comic is by a guy named Robert Kirkman who lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky with only his penknife and a bottle of moonshine. Or something like that. I had never laid eyes on the comic before but I did read his comic Haunt which is actually a fun little comic that he...
