Over the past week or so, Apple Music has slowly unveiled the titles included in its list of the “100 best albums.” Today, the top 10 albums were revealed, with Miss Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill claiming the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the top five are Michael Jackson’s Thriller; The Beatles’ Abbey Road; Prince’s Purple Rain; and Frank Ocean’s Blonde.
The top 10 also includes Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life; Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe Version); Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black; Nirvana’s Nevermind; and Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
In all honestly, it’s a pretty safe top 10, especially considering the drama that unfolded when Apple unveiled picks 11-20 and slotted Adele’s 21 at No. 15 and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at No. 18 — ahead of albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds,...

Before Michael Jackson was a pop star in his own right, millions of Americans knew him as the lead vocalist on The Jackson 5’s “ABC.” The tune made history because of its title. Jackson released two other songs that made history for the exact same reason.
The Jackson 5’s ‘ABC’ is tied for the No. 1 single with the shortest title
Many companies measure the success of popular songs but Billboard is the most famous. When people say a song is “a No. 1 hit,” they are likely saying that the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. With The Jackson 5 and as a solo artist, Jackson was no stranger to success on the Billboard Hot 100.
Several songs are tied for having the shortest title on the Billboard Hot 100. They all have three characters in their names. Those songs include The Jackson 5’s “ABC,” Frankie Avalon’s “Why,” Edwin Starr’s “War,...

The manga industry is indeed one of the biggest up-and-coming faucets garnering massive fan attention, but even that has faced a decline in recent years. This is true considering all the legendary Mangakas (aka manga creators) who have left this world in the last few years, leaving only their masterpieces behind to continue their legacy.

One of these masterminds was none other than the super-brains behind the epic Dragon Ball universe who was the most recent to leave fans devastated with his death, Akira Toriyama. However, he wasn’t the only one, and there have been multiple other manga creators who broke many hearts with their deaths preceding Toriyama sensei in recent years.

Rihanna‘s “Umbrella” was, arguably, the song that transformed her from a regular Top 40 singer into a superstar. Two of Rihanna’s regular songwriters were upset that the track was so good. They wanted one of her other tracks to succeed.
Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ upset the writers of ‘Don’t Stop the Music’
Together, Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor E. Hermansen are a songwriting duo called Stargate. They have been instrumental in Rihanna’s career, writing hits such as “S&m,” “Only Girl (In the World),” “Diamonds,” and “Unfaithful.” During a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Eriksen recalled the creation of Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music,” one of the most beloved dance songs of the 2000s.
“Before we met her, before we even saw a picture of her, we could tell Rihanna was going places just by listening to her voice on ‘Pon de Replay,'” he said. “We just knew,...

Rihanna‘s “Pon de Replay” is completely different from the campy, Gothic vibes of Beetlejuice. Because the world is full of surprises, Beetlejuice still managed to inspire Rihanna’s first hit. The “We Found Love” singer also took some ideas from a tune Gwen Stefani covered.
Rihanna’s ‘Pon de Replay’ was inspired by a Jamaican song in ‘Beetlejuice’
“Pon de Replay” was co-written by Alisha “M’Jestie” Brooks. During a 2020 interview with Vulture, Brooks explained how a famous musical sequence from Beetlejuice inspired the song. “The scene where they sing ‘Come, mister tally man, tally me banana’ [from Harry Belafonte’s 1956 song ‘Day-o (The Banana Boat Song)’], I used to rewind it all the time because it was so dope,” she recalled. “That song came into my head when I heard the track after a few hours of sitting there with the beat just repeating over and over again.”

Jay-Z wasn’t too impressed with Rihanna after one of her songs failed. A dance track changed everything for Rihanna. One of her songwriters decided to give her a Madonna-inspired musical makeover and it paid off big time. It also changed the trajectory of Rihanna’s life.
1 Rihanna song stopped Jay-Z from dropping her from his label
During a 2020 interview with Vulture, songwriter Evan Rogers recalled the state of Rihanna’s career following the failure of her single “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want.” “I remember we had a meeting with Jay-Z at his Four Seasons hotel suite out in Beverly Hills,” Rogers said. “He called us because Rihanna had been acting up a little bit. After debuting her lush new single, “Saturn,” at a Grammys commercial this year, Sza surprise released the track on Thursday evening.
The ode to heartbreak begins with the lonely verse: “If there’s another universe, please make some noise/Give me a sign/ This can’t be life/If there’s a point to losing love.” The chorus makes the case for teleporting to a new planet entirely as she sings, “Life’s better on Saturn/Got to break this pattern of floatin’ away,” before declaring: “Find something worth saving...

February 4 was a big night for Taylor Swift, as she took home her fourth Album of the Year Grammy for “Midnights,” an achievement no other performer has ever managed. The Grammys handing out a fourth Album of the Year trophy to anyone is a big deal. But, strangely enough, Swift’s path to victory this time was arguably smoother than all of her previous wins.
Swift was aided by a couple of factors. The first and perhaps most obvious was that 2023 was simply the year of Taylor Swift. “Midnights” was a huge success commercially, achieving over 1.5 million album units in its first week, her biggest week ever at the time and a remarkable achievement for anyone’s 10th studio album. She followed that with the iconic Eras Tour, which is already the highest grossing tour of all time despite not being over yet. Additionally, the album produced multiple hit singles,...

Singer-songwriter Sza has shared that she was too starstruck to speak to Beyonce at the 2024 Grammys. The ‘Kill Bill’ singer said: “I was scared to go over to Beyonce. I can’t speak unless she wants to speak, in my brain, because I don’t want to bother her. She looked so peaceful and beautiful,” reports People magazine.
She told E! News: “I just admire her. She’s a masterclass on poise, grace, artistry, beauty and kindness.” Although the ‘Snooze’ songstress didn’t meet the 32-time Grammy winner, 42, she did meet the Houston native’s husband — and the 2024 Dr Dre Global Impact Award recipient, Jay-Z.
“Jay-Z did speak to me,” Sza revealed. “I was so grateful. Those are literally my favourite people, and it’s so crazy that I am seeing them in real life. Jay-Z means the world to me. I’m a Jay-Z stan so bad”, she said,...

In 2023 Gold Derby’s racetrack odds missed every general field category — surprises abounded! But this year our odds were spot-on in all four of those races, with Album of the Year going to Taylor Swift (“Midnights”), Record of the Year going to Miley Cyrus (“Flowers”), Song of the Year going to Billie Eilish (“What Was I Made For?”) and Best New Artist going to Victoria Monet. Still, there were 15 categories out of the 37 we were predicting where most of our users were expecting a different result. Did you see these outcomes coming?
SEE2024 Grammy winners list in all 94 categories
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: “Ghost in the Machine” by Sza feat. Phoebe Bridgers
In recent years this award has gone to the biggest hit nominated. This year that was “Karma” by Taylor Swift and Ice Spice. And since Swift was also the front-runner for Album of the Year, we figured she’d take this too.

Los Angeles, Feb 5 (Ians) Singer Sza, who has the most nominations at the 2024 Grammy Awards, painted the stage red with a perfect ‘Kill Bill’ performance.
The singer, dressed out in a black trenchcoat and wide-brimmed hat, opened with her smash hit “Snooze” off her sophomore album “Sos.” On a stage resembling a back alley replete with flaming garbage cans and a dumpster, she sang shrouded in shadow, brushing off a man who approached her at the song’s end.
The camera panned to a woman in the audience brandishing a sword, showing off her samurai skills on a table where Phoebe Bridgers and Victoria Monét were seated.
The woman joined a crew of dancers on stage as Sza ran through “Kill Bill,” taking off her jacket and joining in on the choreography, once again pushing off the suitor, reports variety.com.

Sza gave a fierce performance at the 2024 Grammys, singing some of her biggest hits.
Wearing an all-black outfit with a leather trench coat, the singer-songwriter started with a soulful performance of her song “Snooze” from her album Sos.
After, backup dancers, appearing equally fierce, proceeded to come in with swords as Sza began singing “Kill Bill.” At one point, the dancers jumped on other artist’s tables in the audience, as Janelle Monáe, Kelsea Ballerini and other stars cheered Sza on.
Right before her performance, the singer shared a few words in an intro video about what her latest album and the Grammys mean to her.

Music icons who died in the last year — from Tina Turner to Tony Bennett — will be honored at Sunday’s 2024 Grammys with performances by Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Fantasia Barrino and Jon Batiste.
A source close to the situation tells The Hollywood Reporter that Barrino, on the heels of her success in The Color Purple, will honor Turner with a performance, which will be introduced by Color Purple producer Oprah Winfrey, who was announced as a Grammy presenter earlier this week. Wonder will pay tribute to Bennett onstage, while Batiste will remember music executive Clarence Avant with a performance to be introduced by Lenny Kravitz.
Lennox will honor Sinead O’Connor and will be joined by Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, the Grammy- and Emmy-winning musicians who played in Prince’s band The Revolution (Prince also wrote O’Connor’s biggest hit “Nothing Compares 2 U.”)

The 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony is being held this weekend and we’re predicting the winners in all of the major categories!
Sza leads the pack this year with nine nominations.
In general, women are totally crushing it: Sza, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Miley Cyrus all dominated the biggest categories. Jon Batiste is actually the only man in the Record of the Year and Album of the Year categories.
Taylor has a chance at setting a record for most Album of the Year wins if she picks up the award for Midnights. She currently is tied for the most wins in the category with three previous wins!
Make sure to tune in on Sunday for the Grammys, hosted by Trevor Noah for the fourth time. The show is airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ starting at 8pm Et. Check out the full list of nominations.
