- An older boy bullies a younger boy by pushing him to the ground, getting on top of him, and putting a lit cigarette close to the his face. It then stops before anything happens.
- Teddy continuously punches Vern in the shoulder. Vern finally gets fed up and jumps on top of Teddy, pummeling him.
- The villain threatens several young boys with a knife but is stopped before anything can occur.
- The antagonist is threatened with a gun.
- We hear someone was killed with a stab to the throat.
- A boy dies in a car crash. We just hear about it

- The characters get leeches all over their bodies and one of them gets one on their penis. The way it's presented in the film could be scary for many people.

- We see a funeral recession for a teen boy where the father blames his other son (this is all a dream).
- A man mocks a boy's mentally ill father and the boy tries to scale a fence to kill a man.

- Four boys come out of a pond with leeches all over them. It is implied that one of the boys has a leech stuck on his penis. He reaches into his underwear, withdraws a bloody hand, and faints briefly afterward.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- In one scene, the boys are walking on train tracks, and when the train comes the boys are running for their lives, a very intense scene as two of the boys were almost hit, but they make it off the tracks.
- The group of boys finally discovering the body is deliberately made to feel disturbing, as the boys are forced to confront the reality that death isn't a funny game, it's a tragic thing to deal with. The body itself looks very convincing, but this is all intentional.
