Fresh off of her second Tony Award victory last year for “The Sound Inside,” Mary-Louise Parker has earned a follow-up nomination in the same category for her work in the revival of Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “How I Learned to Drive.” Parker returned to the haunting piece 25 years after she originated the role Off-Broadway, reuniting with costars David Morse – who also reaped a bid – and Johanna Day, plus director Mark Brokaw.
This nomination not only celebrates her exemplary performance, but also moves Parker into an extremely exclusive list of performers who have earned at least five nominations in the Best Play Actress category. Her first bid dates back to 1990, when she contended for “Prelude to a Kiss.” Over a decade later, Parker earned her second nomination for “Proof” and went on to win the prize. In the following two decades, she earned another nom for “Reckless” in 2005 and last year for “The Sound Inside,...

The following contains The Flash spoilers
The Flash Season 8 Episode 10
As an individual episode, The Flash’s “Reckless” is a fairly uneventful hour. The team is embarrassingly unsuccessful at stopping the mysterious black fire that’s cold fusion burning people to death all over town. Deon’s freaking out about Iris’s time sickness, which still doesn’t make any sense at all. Sue Dearbon continues to display her impressive array of personal outerwear. And Iris maybe sort of accidentally completely erases someone from existence, but somehow that’s not the A plot this week. Cool deal, show!
As a person who loves both Caitlin and Frost, I’m always excited when The Flash attempts to give the pair of them something like a “family” story, but as Snow bonding hours go, “Reckless” is pretty weak. Frost’s sudden desire to risk herself at all costs simply to help faceless strangers is admirable on paper,...

The event, called “Runaway With Jbj” and put on by Runaway Tours, was scheduled for October 29 to 31 and included an acoustic storyteller performance with Jovi, a Q&a and photo-op, in addition to a Halloween costume welcome party.
A rep for Bon Jovi told Variety that the musician is fully vaccinated and doing well.

Two decades ago Mary-Louise Parker won her first Tony Award for her enthralling performance in David Auburn’s “Proof.” Five Broadway appearances later, Parker is on the cusp of winning the second Tony of her career for her searing turn in Adam Rapp’s “The Sound Inside,” according to our exclusive Tony Awards predictions. “The Sound Inside” has six nominations, including Best Play.
Parker earned the best reviews of her stage career for “The Sound Inside,” topping even the rapturous notices she received for “Proof.” Back then, John Simon (New York Magazine) called Parker’s work in “Proof” “a performance of genius.” In his rave review of “The Sound Inside,” Jesse Green (New York Times) wrote, “Parker, never better in her 30-year stage career, has dug even deeper into Bella, treating each line as if it were an archaeological site; she builds her performance on artifacts, not theories.” Vinson Cunningham...

Morgan Wade says she’s already working on the follow-up to her breakthrough debut Reckless, which was produced by 400 Unit guitarist Sadler Vaden and released earlier in 2021. The Virginia native was interviewed and then performed a short set on Rolling Stone’s Twitch on Tuesday.
Wade cited a handful of stylistic mavericks as her current musical inspirations.
“There’s three right now — Lana Del Ray being a big one. I frickin’ love her, man,” Wade says in response to Rs Twitch host Tia Hill’s question. “Jessie Reyez is amazing.

Kip Moore is living to the fullest in his new song “Good Life,” his first new music since the deluxe version of his 2020 album Wild World.
“Good Life” marks a slight sonic departure for Moore, who worked with producer and co-writer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Ashley McBryde) for the first time in his career. Some of Joyce’s more experimental rock-leaning influence is evident as Moore’s effects-laden vocals cruise along to a funky backbeat and sizzling lead guitar. “I’ve been crucified by a Baptist preacher/been face to...

Morgan Wade has released the official music video for “Wilder Days,” the lead single from her debut solo album Reckless.
The clip sees Wade covering up her tattoos with a buttoned-up alter ego, accompanying her boyfriend (played by Josh Jakub) on an awkward date to Nashville cocktail bar Rosemary. Following the narrative of the song, Wade imagines meeting her older beau when he was younger and “a little wilder,” and the video is intercut with a dream sequence where the two of them play pool and dance at Nashville’s...

Morgan Wade may not be performing live music if it weren’t for Craigslist. The Floyd, Virginia, native was in her freshman year of college and having second thoughts about breaking up with her boyfriend, a mandolin and harmonica player, when she decided to woo him back — or, some might say, troll him — by starting a band.
“I just got it in my head that I could form a band,” Wade recalls. “It would either piss him off or get him back, either one.” She found her future players online...

Seal Team Recap: Did Depositions Help or Hurt Jason's Case? Plus, How Is Mandy Liking Civilian Life?
This week on Seal Team, we learned why NCIS hauled Jason out of the Bulkhead in handcuffs. Did depositions from those around him help his case? And what advice did Mandy Ellis have to offer?
In an episode directed by Mandy herself aka former cast member Jessica Paré, Jason in short order learned that he was being charged with unlawfully killing an unarmed citizen during the team’s most recent op, in Jordan. His failure to ensure that the target was armed before the use of lethal force put him in violation of Ucmj Article 119, making for a manslaughter charge.

As Stacey Abrams continues to work against voter suppression and voting rights in her home state of Georgia, and while navigating her freshman awards season with her documentary, “All In: The Fight for Democracy,” the trailblazer found time to write a novel.
“While Justice Sleeps” is set to be published by Penguin Random House on May 11 and, in a new interview with Variety, Abrams revealed more details about the thriller that has been several years in the making.
“It is the story of a young lawyer who unexpectedly finds herself to be guardian to Supreme Court Justice, who has fallen into a coma,” Abrams explains. “She has to navigate the high drama challenge and do so with the authority of being a guardian, but with no real power in the midst of the maelstrom that is Washington D.C.”

When legendary horror auteur George A. Romero set out to make Day of the Dead — the third chapter in a trilogy that included the wildly popular and groundbreaking Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Dawn of the Dead (1979) — he envisioned it as an epic conclusion to the story that he first began telling back in Pittsburgh in the late 1960s with a crew of friends and co-workers and a budget of just $114,000.
But the movie that Romero ended up making was not the one he started out with — and even though many were perhaps initially disappointed with Day of the Dead, it’s been re-evaluated over the years by fans, critics, and even by the late Romero himself, who wound up calling it his favorite of the original trilogy.
“When it first came out, the audience was like, ‘What the hell is this?’” says Lori Cardille, the Pittsburgh-based actress who...

Oddly enough I first saw Adam Baldwin as a mean bully in the 80s movie Reckless. That was a pretty cool movie about a rebellious type in high school who gets involved with the typical blond cheerleader. It’s a movie starring Aidan Quinn and Darryl Hannah. Baldwin is Hannah’s original boyfriend before Quinn’s rebel character moves in an woos her. Baldwin played the role of bad guy perfectly in that movie and I liked him ever since. Most of you know Baldwin as Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket and Jayne Cobb in Firefly But Baldwin’s been around the

There are two things that have inhibited me in the past from broadening my horror film horizons. Those things would be subtitles and anything filmed in black and white. I’ve conquered my perceived drudgery of reading subtitles, and after many forced exercises to multitask my watching and reading simultaneously, I can get lost in a really good horror movie, and the subtitles come as second nature. I’m still struggling with the black and white. Even established classics such as “Night of the Living Dead...

However, with Josh Lasser handling most of the New York junkets for Team HitFix, I haven't made it to NYC since Fall 2012, which would also be the last time I made it to Broadway. As a result, I've seen none of this year's Tony nominees. So follow along for full coverage of what I'm able to understand from the 2014 Tony Awards. I know Hugh Jackman is hosting. I know Neil Patrick Harris is both a performer and a guaranteed winner. Click through for the full live-blog and comment below, should the spirit move you! 7:55 p.m. Et. Traffic: Mr. Fantasy Aka Heaven Is in Your Mind (Island)
Shortly after Steve Winwood quit the Spencer Davis Group (of which he was the lead singer and organist), he formed Traffic with some guys he'd jammed with at a club in Birmingham: guitarist/vocalist Dave Mason, saxophonist/flutist Chris Wood, and drummer/lyricist Jim Capaldi. After a couple of hit singles, they convened at a country cottage and put together the debut album by Traffic, titled Mr. Fantasy in their native country. By the time it was released, Mason had already quit.

Welcome to the weekly Newsroom Poll, where we will give you a sneak peek into the lives and minds of some of the correspondents, writers, editors and producers here at MTV News. Every week, they'll answer a poll question that will reveal some of what we talk about behind the scenes here in the newsroom. Enjoy!
There's been a lot of talk about Taylor Momsen and her band the Pretty Reckless in the Newsroom this week. Who does the band most remind us of? Are they any good? And will Momsen have to fight off Courtney Love? But mostly it made us think about other actors who have tried their hand at music. So this week's question is: What is the best — or worst — actor-turned-musician transition? Read the Newsroom's answers below, then leave your own thoughts in the comments.
