- This entire movie revolves around harvesting of a spice... a drug of sorts... that gives the user some sort of mysterious powers. Still, in the middle of a sci-fi movie with over-the-top, futuristic art direction, several escorts of a slug-like alien creature appear to have cigars in their mouths. There are three separate scenes in which these characters appear, two of which occur indoors.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- The Main villain takes pleasure in sexually and violently tormenting his male slaves. Nothing graphic is shown on screen; it is more of an idea that is implied. Some may find it disturbing to watch.
- There are a couple of scenes where a fetus is shown and implied to be in the womb.
- Eccentric visuals, machines, character design and giant worms might be off-putting. A character has pustules and other sickly gross features.

- Baron Harkonnen pulls the "life plug" of a prisoner, causing him to bleed to death. Blood pours from the wound. The aggressor takes sadistic pleasure in the death.
