As this slow broadcast network pilot season continues, ABC has ordered its second comedy pilot of the year: “Forgive and Forget,” a multi-camera comedy set to star Emmy-winning “Modern Family” alum Ty Burrell.
Burrell is also on board as an executive producer (through his Desert Whale Prods. shingle) on “Forgive and Forget,” while Eugene Garcia-Cross is writer/exec producer and Robin Shorr is on board as showrunner and exec producer. 20th Television is behind the project, which stars Burrell as Hank, a perennial “life of the party.” According to the logline, Hank gets an unexpected diagnosis, leading him to reconnect with his responsible adult son Ben.
ABC has also ordered the comedy pilot “Shifting Gears,” starring Tim Allen, for this season. That means both of the network’s comedy pilots are multi-camera sitcoms from 20th TV starring veteran ABC stars.

ABC is piloting a new comedy starring and exec produced by Ty Burrell.
Deadline revealed that the multicamera project Forgive & Forget was in the works a year ago and the project, which comes from Punky Brewster duo Eugene Garcia-Cross and Robin Shorr, is now moving forward.
It is the latest pilot order for the Disney-owned network; Deadline revealed that Tim Allen was returning to ABC for a family comedy from Duncanville co-creators Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Sully. That marked the first pilot order of the season for ABC, which has instead been focusing on year-round development.
The show, which comes from 20th Television, follows perennial life of the party Hank (Burrell). After an unexpected diagnosis, Hank reconnects with his responsible adult son Ben in hopes of making new memories together.
Garcia-Cross will write with Shorr as showrunner. They will exec produce alongside Burrell via his Desert Whale Productions banner.

But for most movie fans, Boen will always be remembered for playing the role of Dr. Peter Silberman in The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, T2 3-D: Battle Across Time, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Sadly, it has been confirmed by Deadline that Boen passed away in Hawaii yesterday, January 5th, at the age of 81. A friend of Boen’s and his family revealed that Boen had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in the fall of 2022.
Born on August 4, 1941, Boen made his screen acting debut in a 1974 episode of the PBS series Great Performances. The many credits he racked up after that appearance include the films The Main Event, Battle Beyond the Stars, 9 to 5, Soggy Bottom USA,...

Zoinks! Freddie Prinze Jr., who played Fred in the Scooby-Doo movies, has come out with a mystery greater than any the gang has solved before. Why was he paid less than his co-stars for the sequel, Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed?
In a recent profile by Esquire, Freddie Prinze Jr. reflected on some of his bigger movies, revealing that despite the major success of 2002’s Scooby-Doo, the actor had to take a salary cut for the 2004 sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, while his co-stars–Matthew Lillard (Shaggy), Linda Cardellini (Velma) and wife Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne) appeared to get a bump in their checks. Boy, that last one must have made for awkward dinner conversation.
“I remember thinking, ‘Hold up, who’s giving them the raise? Me or y’all?’” he said. “Like we made you guys three-quarters of a billion dollars, you can’t afford to pay them what I’m making on this?...

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have shared many adorable moments together after being married for two decades. The duo started dating in 2000 and tied the knot in Mexico two years later. Gellar's roles in "Cruel Intentions" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" put her on the map, while Prinze Jr.'s performances in "She's All That" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" made him a heartthrob. Their adorable relationship only upped the fan frenzy. In the years since they became a Hollywood power couple, the stars have had two children together, Charlotte, 13, and Rocky, 10, but save for a few selfies and throwback photos, they've mostly kept their relationship under the radar.
Gellar spoke to Popsugar in September about the secret to their years-long relationship. "If I really had the secret sauce, I would retire on my island for selling it," she said. "But I think, ultimately, it's...

It also marks Prinze Jr.'s first time returning to a major motion picture since 2008's "Jack and Jill vs. the World," per IMDb. "As nervous as I was getting back into making movies, I couldn't have picked a more lovely film or a more perfect group to work with," the star told Tudum. "They made me love this business again."

Sarah Michelle Gellar doesn't know the exact secret to a successful marriage, but she does have an important tip on how she's managed to make things work with her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr. "If I really had the secret sauce, I would retire on my island for selling it," she tells Popsugar. "But I think, ultimately, it's just remembering to put the work in. That relationships, whether they're marital or friendships, you have to put work into it. They're not just a given. And you have to be always willing to devote that time and that attention."
Gellar and Prinze first met on the set of their 1997 slasher flick, "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and began dating three years later. While neither of them were "into marriage" at the time, Gellar recalled to People Now in 2020, "One day, I just knew we were gonna get married, and I knew I was gonna propose.

“Is It future? Or is it past?”
When the One-Armed Man Mike (Al Strobel) posed that question to Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) in the second part of Twin Peaks: The Return, he may very well have been echoing the thoughts of the viewers. After all, Mike asked that question while sitting in the Red Room, the interdimensional waiting room that became the signature location during the original two-season run of Twin Peaks, and the 1992 prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. In fact, Cooper wore the exact same suit and tie combo, and sat in the same chair from the original series.
Before Cooper could answer, Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) entered the room, decked in the same black dress that she wore in the season two finale. Although MacLachlan and Lee had both clearly aged in the two and...

Part of Peacock‘s whole premise as a streaming channel appears to be rebooting old franchises for the modern viewer. They’ve done it with several older shows already: “Punky Brewster,” “Saved By The Bell,” and “Bel-Air” are just some of the service’s offerings. Now, add a reboot of something more recent than those to the list, as “Queer As Folk” also gets the remake treatment this summer.

If only Andy Warhol had lived to see “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers,” the cinematic culmination of the Campbell’s soup can painter’s meta-commentary on the blurring of art and commerce. This frenetic and funny crossbreeding of live action and cartoon is both a reboot and an anti-reboot, a corporate-funded raspberry at corporate IP, and a giddily dumb smart aleck committed to mocking its joke — and making it, too.

NBCUniversal’s international flight plan for Peacock starts this week: Starting Nov. 16, Sky TV and Now customers in the U.K. and Ireland will get access to the streaming service for no additional fee.
Comcast had announced plans this summer to launch Peacock as a free add-on for Sky’s satellite TV customers in Europe, representing a base of close to 20 million households. According to NBCU, after the “soft launch” in the U.K. and Ireland, Peacock will continue to roll out across Sky platforms in territories including Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland in the next few months.
Sky TV customers and subscribers to the Now Entertainment package in the U.K. and Ireland will get “early access” to the new ad-supported Peacock destination, with original and library TV shows and movies from across NBCU although the content availability will differ from what’s available on Peacock in the U.

Fox gave a particularly animated Upfronts presentation this year.
The network used its virtual event for ad buyers to tout its subscription-less services. Kicking off with an amusing video that featured Leslie Jordan talking to a slew of Fox stars such as Rob Lowe (as well as some former stars such as 24’s Kiefer Sutherland) and Charlie Collier, CEO of Fox Entertainment getting a ride from You Bet Your Life host Jay Leno, the presentation moved into a Bento Box-animated portion (see above).
Collier and his team, sometimes under the cover of cartoon, gently slammed the other networks and media conglomerates for the arms race in the subscription video on demand world, highlighting that this is a space that isn’t kind to advertisers.
Joking about Max Plus syndrome, having your ads play in a death spiral on Peacock’s Punky Brewster and CBS EyeQ, Collier touted how they...

Fox’s 2021 upfront presentation focused in large part on the fact that both Fox and the streaming service Tubi are entirely supported by ads, standing in contrast with other streamers associated with broadcast networks.
Numerous references were made to the fact that Tubi has no paywall like other streamers, with plenty of jabs at the competition. Those included multiple well-done comedy skits, like one modeled on a pharmaceutical ad for a drug designed to help ad buyers struggling with “Max+ syndrome.” Another, an animation sequence in the style of “The Simpsons,” saw a beleaguered ad buyer trying and failing to get over the paywall at HBO Max while also bemoaning the fact his ads run in a constant loop on Peacock — and only during “Punky Brewster.” The skit even poked fun at the many corporate parent changes for WarnerMedia, though it clearly was made prior to the recent Discovery/AT&T news.
