Violence & Gore
- Two brothers duel at the end, and one mortally wounds the other.
- The ending is notoriously sad and tragic, though the violence is not very graphic in this production. Practically every character dies.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The scene where Gloucester's eyes are ripped out is disturbing and intense, but not realistic or graphic in this production.
- The ending is very intense and sad. Regan is poisoned by her sister. Edgar kills Edmund in a duel. Goneril commits suicide. Cordelia is lynched off screen. Lear dies of grief, holding his dead daughter in his arms. Not graphic, but this is definitely an intense play overall.
