The Billboard Chart was used for this show for the top 10 singles and albums of the week between 1980-1991 but in 1992 the final season of the show they used The Radio and Records Chart. Casey Kasem hosted the show until 1991. Siedah Garrett took over from him followed by Tommy Puett for the last 2 years. Siedah Garrett also hosted the show on Casey Kasem's behalf in 1989 on many occasions.
In 1990-1992 Casey Kasem hosted a segment called "Should have been a top 10 hit". Highlighting certain songs from the rock & pop era that missed the top 10,While Siedah Garrett and Tommy Puett took over his main slot.
When Casey Kasem finished with the show, The format of the show was changed in 1992 when Richard Blade took over as narrator of the new look America's Top 10. It only ran for one season and the show was canceled in 1993.
