As scary as a regular Xenomorph can be, one with its skull visible through its skin is even more nightmare-inducing, as evidenced in CoolProps' new life-size Alien head prop replica that honors the late, great Alien artist H.R. Giger and is even approved by the H.R. Giger Museum.
Sideshow Collectibles will release CoolProps' new life-size Alien head (based on an Alien prop from Giger's workshop) between December of 2017 and February of 2018, and you can view official photos and details below.

CoolProps are proud to present the Giger's Alien Head Life-Size Prop Replica which was approved by H.R. Giger Museum in Switzerland.
This mysterious creature, which took Nostromo's crew's lives, appeared in the 1979 movie, “Alien”. The monster created by H.R. Giger haunts fans with its name and appearance still to this day.

H.R. Giger's Alien design looks great in paintings and on film, but it's always been tough to capture the right pose on statues and action figures. Thankfully, Sideshow Collectibles was up for the challenge and will be releasing one of the most unique statues of the Xenomorph (also referred to as Internecivus raptus on Blu-ray / DVD special features) I've seen to date:
Featuring one of the most iconic alien species ever to grace the big screen, Sideshow is proud to present the Alien: Internecivus raptus Statue.
Translated from Latin as ‘murderous thief,’ Internecivus raptus is one of the few official names recorded for the xenomorph species moviegoers have come to recognize most famously as ‘Aliens.’
Faithfully rendered with H.R. Giger’s visionary bio-industrial aesthetic, the specimen is suspended in an elegant pose – its structural perfection matched only by its hostility.
Digitally sculpted, and engineered using an advanced combination of high quality materials,...

It’s the summer of 1978, and the UK’s Shepperton Studios simmers in the heat. Secreted away in his own personal workshop, a Swiss artist works feverishly on his paintings and sculptures, either fashioning strange shapes from gigantic blocks of styrofoam or spraying them with his airbrush.

This is 38-year-old Hr Giger, and he cuts an unusual figure. His shock of black hair is slicked back away from his pale forehead. He refuses to take his leather jacket off despite the searing heat. On a bench sits row after row of human and animal bones - skulls, femurs, vertebrae - plus a weird assortment of ribbed hoses, wires and mechanical...

Several new Prometheus stills have been released and give us a closer look at the cast of characters, including Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson and Ian Whyte. One of the highlights is a still featuring director Ridley Scott standing next to a structure eerie similar to H.R. Giger's Alien designs. "With 'Prometheus,' Scott creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race." Ship launch scheduled for June 8.

Dan Ouellette designed the creatures in Splice -- thin, alien, and beautiful, evolving -- forged from thematic obsessions present in Ouellette’s work even before the film ever went into development. Director Vincenzo Natali hired Ouellette based on these themes to drive the look and feel of Splice’s antagonists, much like Dan O’Bannon and Ridley Scott utilized H.R. Giger’s artwork as the template for their monster as well as part of the production design in Alien. But unlike Giger, Dan Ouellette will never be (properly) credited for his creation.
As Splice was greenlit, Dan was left behind. His creature, now fatherless, became real on screen without him.
The following interview contains Dan’s side of the story. We are now making every effort that we can to get the other side's point of view. Let this tale be a lesson to all those working in film or...

Back in the days of the old Coming Attractions I had a long-running editorial column called Director's Cut. It allowed me a place to say what was on my mind and what I thought about news or events related to film. Now that CA 2.0 is up and running and I still have access to this mad scientist equipment, I thought why not slap Director's Cut on the operating table, hook it up to the lightning rod and see if I can't bring it back to life? When has that idea ever gone wrong? -- Ps
Ridley Scott is making a new Alien movie and that, my friends, is both a good and a bad thing.
On the surface Scott's involvement in resurrecting the franchise looks like it can only be a positive but once I think about it further, I think that there may be more opportunities for Sir Ridley...
