Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wasn’t just given the moniker “The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment” because it sounded cool. Whether in the ring or on the mic, he lived up the name every time he was in front of a crowd. The Rock has treated us fans to some of the most memorable moments professional wrestling has ever seen.
His legendary rivalry with Steve Austin, the Rock n’ Sock Connection which gave us “This is your life, Rock”, his run as the Corporate Champion and virtually everything he was ever a part of was entertaining.

The Xbox 720 is now the Xbox One. And we've got the basic details of it here...
Microsoft has finally taken the wraps off its Xbox 360 successor, the Xbox One. The third generation of its Xbox line of consoles, the machine has been confirmed for release later this year (Zavvi is already listing it for 30 November release, but that may be a holding date), and preorders for the machine have begun, with a £399 UK asking price.
As a special presentation event, Microsoft showed off the machine, alongside the new Kinect sensor and a brand new Xbox One gamepad. And in a taste of how the machine is being positioned, it was noted that games didn't really feature in the Microsoft presentation until a good deal of it had gone.

Mk Raghavendra, in his column Minority View, writes about Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master”
Paul Thomas Anderson is not an easy American filmmaker to characterize but his work is perhaps best understood as an American response to European art cinema of the post-war years. Classical Hollywood cinema or studio filmmaking from the 1920s onwards has insisted on a plot which is driven by individual motivation and, as David Bordwell notes, European art cinema from Neo-realism onwards positioned its narratives in opposition to Hollywood. It relied on looser causal linkages and with less dependence on the motivated individual.
European films ranging from Bergman’s Wild Strawberries (1957) and Fellini’s La Strada (1954) to Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless (1960) and Michelangelo Antonioni’s The Passenger (1975) are about people who, rather than being goal-oriented, are either unable to act decisively or are reflecting on the results of the past actions. The two major principles...

WWE appears to be providing Nxt with more attention as of late, finally acknowledging the brand as the company’s developmental territory. At yesterday’s WWE Royal Rumble Fan Fest in Phoenix, Arizona Nxt Superstar Bo Dallas earned a place in tonight’s 30-man Royal Rumble match. The third generation wrestler participated in three matches during the event, defeating fellow Nxt prospects Luke Harper, Conor O’Brian and Leo Kruger. Dallas is the grandson of Blackjack Mulligan, son of Mike ‘Irwin R. Schyster’ Rotunda and nephew of Barry and Kendall Windham. Speaking to WWE reporters, Dallas said “I’m always the underdog, I never let that get me down. I take the punches, but if there’s one thing I believe, it’s ‘always get up.’ And that’s how I live life.”

There are many things that make Steven Spielberg's 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial' -- thirty years old this year -- a magical masterpiece: a sensitive script, fantastic special effects (it's often easy to forget the title star is a mechanical puppet), John Williams' uplifting score. But one of the most over-looked aspects is the cast.
Eschewing big name stars and established child actors, Spielberg discovered a raft of talent, young and old, that do much to make 'E.T.' such an emotional experience. Here are their 'E.T.' stories and what happened next....
E.T. is 30 years old - hard to believe, but true
Henry Thomas (Elliott Taylor)
That was then: "I used to think 'If I mess this up, what's going to happen?'" recalls Henry Thomas about his days as the lead in 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial'. "'Are they going fire me? I'm nine years old.

Cinephiles, unite! The name Andrei Zvyagintsev is relatively unknown on these shores, as his remarkable debut "The Return" quietly came and went (though it is now on Netflix Instant -- Go!) and his tremendous sophomore effort "The Banishment" never saw a proper release in the West. That's all about to change with "Elena," his third and most refined piece of work, which not only saw a premiere at Cannes Film Festival but also left with the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize. Zvyagintsev's aesthetic might make him seem like Andrei Tarkovsky II, but his voice is still his own, eschewing his mentor's liberal use of magic for more grounded, realistic stories.
Set in contemporary Russia, the film follows the titular character (Nadezhda Markina) as she cares for her wealthy second husband Vladimir (Andrey Smirnov) in a gigantic penthouse apartment, in a high-class area of the country. By contrast, Elena's jobless...

German actor best known for his roles in the films of Fassbinder
Filmgoers familiar with the work of Rainer Werner Fassbinder will certainly know Günther Kaufmann, who has died of a heart attack aged 64. Kaufmann had parts great and small in more than a dozen of the prolific German director's movies. He was what the Germans call a "Besatzungskind", one of the many children born between 1945 and 1949 as a result of relationships between German women and American soldiers. Kaufmann's black GI father, whom he never knew, returned to the Us before he was born in Munich. According to Fassbinder: "Günther thinks Bavarian, feels Bavarian and speaks Bavarian. And that's why he gets a shock every morning when he looks in the mirror." Kaufmann, whom Fassbinder always called "my Bavarian negro", played an important role in his life.

I am twenty-five years old and a Pokemon nut.
And I’m not ashamed to say that (much).
For myself (and millions of other players world-wide) it’s been a healthy (or, rather, unhealthy) chunk of our life since the first 150 assorted fighting critters burst onto English screens almost twelve years ago. Play me the trainer battle jingle from, for example, Pokemon LeafGreen and I’ll tell you how it reminds me of those long days indoors at University (social life, what’s that?). Show me a picture of penguin pokemon Piplup and I’ll tell you my fond memories of first stepping into the Sinnoh region, whilst sat in the cinema staff room on a lunch-break. Give me the name Milotic and I’ll tell you how many times my Kingdra came up against my mate’s aforementioned pink serpent (those two were mortal enemies by the end).

The Lopez-Aranda family has fallen far from grace. Gaspar (Tony Mabesa) was a promising statesman during his younger years but his political ambitions were thwarted by Ferdinand Marcos' sudden rise to power. Celia (Fides Cuyugan) was an opera star whose sudden marriage to an inutile man stalled her career. The second generation didn't fare any better. Celia's daughter, Merced (Shamaine Buencamino), is unmarried and takes care of the affairs of the household. Her son, Mombic (Art Acuña), haunted by a failed marriage and business, is seeking employment abroad. While the American incarnation of the UK teen hit Skins is under PTC scrutiny (God help us all), the original series is about to launch their fifth season (or series as it's called in the UK) with a whole new group of wild teens to raise hell at Roundview this time around. This group will be considered the Third Generation in the Skins canon and looks to have no leftovers from the Second Generation aka Effy's Clique, who dominated through Series 3 and 4. The new clique looks to have a high sense of 80s fashion, looking like a Millennial Brat Pack in the process. Is that a bad thing? In two words: Hell. No.
The new cast looks very intriguing with no one spilling over from the last group. All personalities seem fresh, but the 2nd Generation had a whole new dynamic that was different from the 1st Generation. Seems like...
