Cher went to see Bob Dylan during his peak era. She was surprised by the “Lay Lady Lay” singer’s approach to his catalog. Cher contrasted herself with Dylan. In addition, she covered one of Dylan’s classic songs.
Cher was surprised when she heard Bob Dylan change the way he performed his songs
During a 2023 interview with The New York Times, Cher discussed her commitment to recreate her records onstage. “I’m not going to do things differently,” she said. “If people come to see you, they want you to do things they like.”
She contrasted herself with the “Like a Rolling Stone” singer. “I remember seeing Bob Dylan — I think it was Blood on the Tracks,” she said. “And I went to the first concert and some of the songs I went, ‘What is this?’ He got tired of singing the songs the same way. But people really...

Cher is probably not the first name that comes to mind when you think of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – and if she says so, it’ll stay that way. Despite having a dynamic career and officially becoming the first woman to ever have #1 singles over the course of seven decades, Cher will forever distance herself from the foundation.
Now 77, Cher recently told Kelly Clarkson that while she may not be the only artist to have achieved such a feat, she thinks hers is more impressive because “it took four of them to be one of me,” citing The Rolling Stones. Then she added, “And I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!” The Stones, for reference, were inducted in 1989, the same year Cher released one of her biggest hits, “If I Could Turn Back Time”.

Cher has joined the crop of fellow artists who’ve made their distaste for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame abundantly clear, saying in a recent interview that the folks behind the organization “can just go you-know-what themselves.”
The pop legend was a guest on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, during which host Clarkson pointed out that Cher has No. 1 hits spanning seven decades — a milestone she shares only with The Rolling Stones.
“It took four of them to be one of me,” Cher said with a laugh. “And I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars. I’m not kidding you. I was about to say something else — I was about to say I’m not shitting you. I’m never changing my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.

The David Bowie World Fan Convention brought the artists who worked with David Bowie to the audience who grew alongside his mythical output. Prior to the festivities, singer, fashion model, and actor Ava Cherry discussed the profound influences she brought to the singer-songwriter. Cherry was also quite open about how Bowie attempted to return the gestures, if not always the clothes he borrowed.
After Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars finished their mission, and just prior to recording Diamond Dogs, Bowie put together a trio he hoped would take off on their own orbits: Ava and the Astronettes. Front and center was his girlfriend, Ava Cherry.
After hearing Cherry harmonize with the top soul voices at an afterparty for Stevie Wonder’s Carnegie Hall concert, Bowie recruited Ava to go on the road to end the Ziggy Stardust tour in Japan. “David said ‘You’re a singer?’” Cherry tells Den of Geek.

Cher’s lawsuit claiming Sonny Bono’s widow, Mary Bono, owes her $1 million in unpaid royalties for Sonny & Cher songs — including hits like “I Got You Babe” — had its first major court hearing Monday, April 25, with a federal judge asking a telling hypothetical.
U.S. District Judge John A. Kronstadt heard arguments on a pending motion to dismiss the suit and challenged Mary Bono’s position that the federal Copyright Act allows her to terminate the 50% right to royalties that Sonny Bono agreed to fork over to Cher when the...

A review of this week’s Ted Lasso, “Headspace,” coming up just as soon as I jazz scat…
The title of “Headspace” primarily points to this week’s Keeley-Roy plot, a very smart bit of business that creates a temporary hiccup in their relationship without undercutting what makes them such an entertaining and fundamentally happy couple. Roy is flourishing as one of Ted’s assistants, but because he and Keeley now work for the same team, there is no separation between their work and home lives. They are together all day,...

Cher admitted she’s not much of a Cher fan, shared memories from her Sonny and Cher days, and discussed her new documentary in an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show Tuesday, April 20th.
In the first part of the interview, Colbert asked Cher about a recent tweet where she considered doing a virtual concert, but bemoaned the fact that she had too many songs to choose from. When asked what her favorite Cher songs are, the singer half-jokingly said, “This is so hard, because even though I...

As arbitrary here's-a-bunch-of-movies-this-studio-owns-on-dvd box sets go, The Cher Collection (Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment) at least provides something of a career retrospective of the star's film presence from kitschy hippie (Good Times, Chastity) to Serious Actress (Silkwood, Moonstruck) to marquee diva (Mermaids, Tea with Mussolini). But one box set can barely cover the extraordinary breadth of Cher's contributions to pop culture - hell, not even the medium of cinema can begin to do justice to the many corners of the zeitgeist where she's had an impact. So in honor of this new DVD set, here's a list of some our favorite, other Great Moments in Cher:...
