While it can sometimes be difficult to separate one gaming year from another when we try to recall them from memory, the fact of the matter is that some years are significantly better than others. Indeed, it can sometimes feel…strange to realize that a handful of years played host to a stunning collection of some of the absolute best games ever made.
Before we get into our picks for the best years in video game history, though, let’s take a look at some of the criteria I used to determine the selections and rankings you’ll find on this list:
The number of quality games released in a given year was the biggest determining factor when it came to both the years they were selected and where they are ranked. Simply put, the more great games released in a particular year, the better. The historical significance of the...

The global coronavirus pandemic delayed “The Walking Dead” Season 10 finale from seeing the light of day, but AMC finally unveiled the action packed episode on Sunday, October 4. Actually, this episode will no longer serve as the finale as it was recently announced Season 10 would be expanded by an additional six episodes. So this installment, “A Certain Doom,” simply serves as the epic conclusion to The Whisperer War.
Beta (Ryan Hurst) has trapped the survivors in a hospital by surrounding them with a horde of thousands of zombies. It’s an impossible scenario for the scrappy team, but as Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) points out: the efforts of the united communities combine to make “a mighty fist.” See the top six moments from “A Certain Doom” below, as “mighty fist” meets walker herd.

You can now play Anthem as part of a monthly subscription service. The question is: "Should you?"
Anthem is coming to EA Access in what we're sure is in no way some kind of last-ditch effort to keep the game relevant.
Anthem has been added to the EA Vault which means that EA Access subscribers will be able to play it for no additional cost. That means that anyone who pays $4.99 a month (or $29.99 a year) for EA Access on PS4 and Xbox One can now play Anthem if they aren't already. Those who subscribe to EA's Origin Access Premier program on PC for $14.99 a month (or $99.99 a year) will even be able to play the Legion of Dawn Edition of Anthem as part of their subscription. Basic Origin Access subscribers on PC will be able to play the same standard edition of Anthem available via the EA Access program.

The latest round of video game Hall of Fame inductees includes Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Kart, and a couple of surprises.
Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Kart, Microsoft Solitaire, and Colossal Cave Adventure are the latest inductees into the Video Game Hall of Fame.
Mortal Kombat is the debatable highlight of this particular class. While some will (rightfully) argue that the original Mortal Kombat isn't as smooth or deep as some of its genre competition at the time, Mortal Kombat's extreme violence helped kickstart a debate that only made the game more popular. Besides, as representatives from the Video Game Hall of Fame point out, Mortal Kombat's legacy is more about the wonderful cast of characters it introduced and the incredible world it laid the foundation for.
Super Mario Kart is probably the second most obvious candidate. It's sometimes easy to forget how popular Mario Kart...
