The Pokemon Direct has come and gone and with it hopes for Pokemon Stars on the Nintendo Switch. Instead it revealed a recycled title coming to the Nintendo Switch and an updated title staying on the 3Ds.
And the crowd went mild...
That's the general feeling most had when the Pokemon Direct opened showing Pokken Tournament Dx going to the Nintendo Switch. It didn't get any better when they announced Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on 3Ds. While all these titles are fine in their own right, the idea that we'd get a fully fledged Pokemon game on the Nintendo Switch (Pokemon Stars) caused expectations to soar to new heights and fall to new lows, after the reveal.
Nevertheless, Pokken Tournament Dx will now join the ranks of Nintendo Switch games and will likely find a bigger following than it had on the Wii U. On the flip side of the coin,...

Doris Day‘s life hasn’t always been as sunny as her chipper personality suggests.
The legendary actress and singer, who turned 95 on Monday, lived through a series of heartbreaks that she documented in her 1975 tell-all Doris Day: Her Own Story. Day worked with writer A.E. Hotchner to give fans a revealing glimpse into the life of the seemingly perfect girl — an image she says she detested.
“I’d like to deal with the true, honest story of who I really am,” she told Hotchner. “This image I’ve got … It has nothing to do with the life I’ve had.

Are you sick of hearing about Chad yet? Same, but unfortunately he's not done terrorizing America yet.
On Tuesday's episode of The Bachelorette, we picked up right where we left off on Monday, with Chad being generally aggressive, very mean and also quite legitimately frightening.
The Pool PartyThings started off innocently enough, with JoJo Fletcher coming by the house for the pool party that replaced this week's cocktail party because JoJo just looks that good in a bikini.
Chad even apologized, sort of, to Evan – or at least promised to give him $20 for the shirt he ripped off his back in a fit of rage.

It truly was a dream wedding. Houston Texans defensive end Devon Still wed longtime fiancée Asha Joyce in a gorgeous Manhattan wedding on Friday. Leah, who wore a custom-designed pink flower girl gown, couldn't hold back tears as she watched her dad and her now-stepmom exchange vows. "I love my new family," she said wiping away tears at the reception after. "Thank you for all your support," she added.

The Apprentice is back this week and we are so ready for a new batch of entrepreneurs spouting nonsense and selling rubbish. Now that this is the 11th series, though, we've spotted a few things that seem to keep happening:
1. A candidate says: "That was myself, Lord Sugar"
The Word Is 'Me'.
2. Narrator Mark Halliley finishes a long and winding sentence with a candidate's name
"Searching for fishfingers and goggles in a backstreet in London with time running out, project manager... Derek."
3. There's a helicopter shot of the city
And the Shard still doesn't look finished.
4. Karren Brady complains about the candidates wasting a lot of time
She'll be bringing that up in the Boardroom.
5. Lord Sugar says "resoomay"
(Hoping and praying he doesn't ever say "CV".)
6. The candidates talk into the bottom of their phones
"Don't hold it that way!" as the late, great Steve Jobs once said.

The Apprentice is in its tenth series. Everyone kept reminding us of that in this opening episode. Lord Sugar used it as an excuse for bumping up the number of candidates to 20. The task involved selling everything from every first task from previous series. The winning team were treated to a ride on the London Eye - the prize for the very first winning team of the series.
Since this is a show that has been on television for ten series, you could reasonably assume that it has become a bit stale. And you could even more reasonably assume that the new candidates would have learnt something from their predecessors.
Nope. And nope again.
The Apprentice shouldn't still be this funny. It's essentially the same thing over and over again. We've all seen the candidates purposefully striding through London transport hubs, pulling their suitcases along self-importantly. We've heard all their self-aggrandising phrases before (though,...

Let’s face it, reality competition shows are getting a little old. You’ve seen all the cooking, sewing, and voting off you can stand. Syfy is trying to change that attitude with shows like Face Off, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge, and now, Wizard Wars.
How about if we put magicians to the reality challenge test? But, what could that mean? How do you put magicians through the paces of a reality competition show? Well, according to Wizard Wars, you give them a random assortment of everyday items, and make them impress Penn & Teller.
Yeah. That sounds about right.
Be sure to set your DVR so you don’t miss this one. It’s hitting August 19th, and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Big Brother will set a 'losers' task this week.
Housemates will be divided into Red and Blue teams, then pitted against each other in a series of head-to-head challenges.
The winning team will win prizes after every game, and then a luxury shopping budget at the end of the task.
However, the Blue Team will be unaware that the games are actually all pre-determined and the Red Team will win every time.

The Red Team will be told that they will automatically win every game, but in fact, the deciding head-to-head game will not be predetermined, and will be fair.

When we think of the Super Bowl, here are the first things that come to mind: football (well, duh), the halftime show, and an excuse to eat nachos. We don't necessarily associate the big game with jewelry, but the Super Bowl actually has some pretty red carpet-worthy bling. We're talking about the Super Bowl ring that the team scores if they win. The winning team gets to collaborate to design the ring, and so we obviously won't know what the 2014 bling will look like until we have a champion, but the rings typically have team mottos inscribed or the score of the game. Just take a look at last year's ring for the Baltimore Ravens. Crafted in white gold, the dazzling ring features a whopping...

One night after the 2014 "Royal Rumble" and it looks like this will be an interesting episode of "WWE Raw." Not for the reasons WWE had hoped, though. When the show went off the air with Batista winning the 30-man match, destined for the "Wrestlemania XXX" main event, the audience booed loudly.
Something special and unique to professional wrestling happened during the show, and has been building to this point for months. The crowd wanted to see Daniel Bryan enter the match and win. After losing early in the show, they had convinced themselves he would end the night on top of the world.
That didn't happen though, which angered the fans. Even WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley registered his unhappiness with the outcome.
Now WWE have an interesting conundrum on their hands. Batista's return to the company has been their biggest announcement of the year and something they need to see through.

"Don't Blink: A Doctor Who Quiz" will test Whovians' knowledge of their favorite show, with a heavy focus on the last three Doctors (Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith). That doesn't mean there won't be goodies for fans of the old show, though. "We expect a majority of the attendees might only be familiar with the last three Doctors," editor Christopher Short says. You don't have to be into sailing, or sports at all, to appreciate an epic comeback story - not to mention picturesque photos of the San Francisco Bay. Today, Oracle Team USA made history on its 72-foot catamaran by winning the America's Cup after being down eight races to one. They bested Emirates Team New Zealand for the trophy, which is the oldest in international sports. In fact, Team USA won 11 races to New Zealand's eight, but due to a cheating scandal during a previous race, the team was penalized two points, starting with a deficit. The storybook ending has helped the race end on a positive note, after Olympic gold medalist British sailor Andrew "Bart" Simpson died while training for the Swedish team. After today's loss, Kiwis still have something to be proud of, though. The winning Team USA had two New Zealanders on it, in addition to four Australians,...

What an intense episode this was! Not only was there drama between the designers, but a special guest came back!
The Aug. 15 episode of Project Runway was a whirlwind! Everyone was pretty relieved to have Sandro gone, so they could finally have some peace and quiet. The designers were in for a treat, though, when they found out their challenge!
The Lexus Challenge
The designers had to meet in the Meatpacking District at Gansevoort Plaza, where Tim Gunn and Brian Bolain, corporate manager for Lexus, were waiting for the designers. Behind them were brand new 2014 Lexus sedans, which the designers later found out would be used as their means of transportation. The designers were divided into teams of three, and while some loved this, others hated it. The first team was made up of Alexandria, Sue and Ken — who was very upset that he was put with them! Misha Collins may be a series regular on "Supernatural" Season 9, but that hasn't curtailed his extracurricular activities in the slightest -- the actor is once again masterminding Gishwhes -- the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen -- and is still actively involved in Random Acts, the charity he founded which is dedicated to organizing and funding random acts of kindness across the world.
The Huffington Post recently spoke to Collins about the latest iteration of Gishwhes, what's ahead for Random Acts after completing a children's center in Haiti, and what we can expect from his character, Castiel, in Season 9 of "Supernatural."
For the uninitiated, how did Gishwhes come about?
It was actually a "Supernatural" publicity thing that got me started on it. Three years ago, Holly Ollis, the Warner Bros. publicist, said, "Misha, can you give us a little push?" because "Supernatural" was in second place and...

New 'The Internship' movie delivered great comedy, storyline, drama & more. 20th Century Fox released their new comedy flick, "The Internship" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and thought it was absolutely excellent. It actually turned out to be better than I thought it would be. It dished up a ton of great comedy, along with a terrific, feel good, storyline. And I know Google was loving it as it was just a 2 hour commercial for them. The movie stars: Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Max Minghella, Rose Byrne, John Goodman, Dylan O'Brien, JoAnna Garcia, Eric Andre, Josh Brener, Tiya Sircar, Tobit Raphael, and Will Ferrell. In the new flick, Nick Campbell (Owen Wilson) and Billy McMahon (Vince Vaughn) ,end going for an internship at Google in hopes of landing permanent jobs there. Supposedly, this was their ultimate goal in life after incurring many failures in other sales ventures.

I work in high-tech so I'm no stranger to computer nerds, as they might have been called during the era in which the movie Computer Chess is set -- the 1980s, when computers were beginning to become portable. On the surface, this is a movie about "computers versus humans" in a chess tournament, but filmmaker Andrew Bujalski provides his actors with an environment for their characters to expand beyond nerdy stereotypes, giving the movie thoughtfulness and depth.
Computer Chess takes place at a weekend tournament where teams match their computers' best chess programs with one another, to see which is superior. The winning team will pit their computer against a human chess master. The programmers aren't the only people holding events in the hotel, however, and a weekend couples-encounter retreat provides some amusing contrast.
