- Dallas Hart: Just get in off the railroad?
- Vance Jeffords: Yeah.
- Dallas Hart: We haven't met before. My name is Dallas Hart. I'm new in town, honey.
- Vance Jeffords: Honey, you wouldn't be new anyplace.
- Rip Darrow: [to TC, on being immediately insulted and invited to leave the wedding of TC's son] Sir, you posted an open invitation to this gathering on every stick of lumber in the country. To protect those present from any further unpleasantness, I'd like to make a deal with you. You stop telling lies about me, and I'll stop telling the truth about you!
- Dallas Hart: [as she's leaving] I never could see what they see in the thin ones.
- Vance Jeffords: It's not what they see.
- Vance Jeffords: My husband will be my choice, not yours.
- T. C. Jeffords: Maybe so, maybe no. See here, here's half the money I got from Anaheim's bank - $50,000.
- Vance Jeffords: Good sum.
- T. C. Jeffords: It's yours for a dowry if you pick a man I can favor, one I can sit down at the table with and not dislodge my chow.
- T. C. Jeffords: The beans is on, the coffee's boilin'. For them that don't like beans, there are 150 various other vittles. So dig to it!
- Rip Darrow: You're like a filly that never had a rope on her.
- Vance Jeffords: I waited for you all day.
- Rip Darrow: That was your doing.
- Vance Jeffords: You said you'd be there.
- Rip Darrow: No, you said I'd be there. I didn't say a word.
- Vance Jeffords: I baked you a cake. I brought it along. I didn't want it to go to waste.
- Rip Darrow: You brought it to shove it in my face.
- Vance Jeffords: That's just exactly right.
- Rip Darrow: And don't ask me to be your husband. If we marry, remember one thing. You'll be my wife. Whenever you're wrong, I'll tell you so. If I'm ever wrong, you just keep your little mouth shut.
- T. C. Jeffords: And don't ya go namin' my grandson T.C. Be too heavy a pack for him to carry. He'd have too much to live up to. 'Cause there'll never be another like me.
