To avoid confusing it with its TV series of the same name--Colt .45 (1957)--Warner Bros. changed the film's title to "Chief Thundercloud." It has subsequently reverted back to its original title.
Final film of Alan Hale. NOTE: He died about a month after shooting wrapped. Rogues of Sherwood Forest (1950) was filmed before this picture was made but released after it.
The only time Alan Hale would work on screen with Lloyd Bridges. Decades later in The Fifth Musketeer (1979), Bridges and one of his actor sons, Beau Bridges, would also work with Hale's lookalike son, the only time either Bridges would work with Alan Hale Jr.. Despite being an actor long before his father's passing, Hale Jr. surprisingly never worked with him on screen.
Stanley Andrews, the sheriff, two years later would become the "Old Ranger," host of Death Valley Days (1952). He would host 296 episodes from 1952-64.
