- TriviaThis Hanna & Barbera short title is reminded, in Tex Avery's 1949 short, Bad Luck Blackie (1949) after a continuously trouble making bulldog to a kitten squeezed the kitten, that kept trying to find a hiding place from the dog. The kitten is in a bookcase, but the dog shoved the set of books together, causing the kitten to look like a book for approximately 5 seconds as KITTY FOILED. William Hanna, Joseph Barbera & Tex Avery were three animation directors at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). They gave and shared ideas to each other. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)'s longtime animation producer, 'Fred Quimby (I)'' was deeply disliked, as if he accepted all of the credits of Hanna & Barbera's seven Academy award winning shorts, The Yankee Doodle Mouse (1943), Mouse Trouble (1944), Quiet Please! (1945), The Cat Concerto (1947), The Little Orphan (1948), The Two Mouseketeers (1952) and Johann Mouse (1953).
- GoofsWhen the canary picks up the pistol in one scene, the pistol's handle turns from brown to silver and turns back to brown in the next scene.

A Great Example Of Why These Tom & Jerry Cartoons Were So Well-Received
Tom is wrecking the house, smashing everything in sight with a broom while trying to hit Jerry. The little canary in the bird cage sees Jerry in big trouble, gets out his cage and comes to the mouse's rescue. Jerry then chases the bird, and he when he's got him and ready to move in for the kill, Jerry returns the favor and rescues the little yellow-feathered guy.
Those two then escape for a breather in Jerry's mouse hole. They shake hands and become a team, doing battle with the cat.
The whole cartoon has a lot of funny and clever scenes. This is one of the better Tom and Jerry efforts and makes me realize once again how talented there writers were on these animated short subjects. This is "Exhibit A" why these cartoons were so popular.
