Rip is severely beaten by the gun thug and has cuts on his face by his eyebrow and on his cheek. He goes to Coral's place, and the injuries are still there. He is said to have slept 36 hours, and after waking and shaving his wounds are gone.
Coral mentions it has been two days since she last saw Johnny. Night comes. People sleep. Day comes. Coral again says it has been two days since she last saw Johnny. Should be three now.
When Murdoch is talking to Dusty on the phone after the police leave, it's obvious that he's just reciting his lines since he leaves no response time for anyone to respond while talking and asking questions.
Inside the hotel room, after the waiter goes out carrying the folding table, Murdock takes the cigarette from his mouth with his left hand. The next shot shows him holding the cigarette with his right hand.
When Murdock is listening Coral to sing, he leans his left elbow on the table and puts his hand to his face. In the next shot, before she stands up, his left hand is on the table.
Capt. Murdock is looking through a directory that is in alphabetical order, except the Municipal Laboratory is listed before Morgue.
When Krause pushes the "unconscious" Murdock into a chair, Murdock takes a step, while falling backward, to keep his balance.
After Murdock tells his story to the priest, he leaves the church, and as the priest looks at the open door, the rain starts up, haltingly, the obvious product of a sprinkler hose.
While throwing baseballs towards an empty chair, Murdock makes a reference to the 1946 World Series between Boston and St. Louis. The movie takes place in April of 1946, before anyone could have known which teams would be playing.
