Andy Devine: Wally Davis
Quotes
-
Lee Donley : [to Nick] I don't want to put you out. I'll take in washing for my room and board.
Wally Davis : [slightly laciviously] Well, I got a couple of buttons that could stand sewing.
Lee Donley : [sarcastically] Shirts, I suppose.
-
Wally Davis : It wasn't Nick's fault about that ex-wife of yours. He kept telling you she was no good.
Steve Case : He didn't have to prove it personally.
Wally Davis : Oh, but he did it for your sake, Steve.
-
Wally Davis : I smell a drink! I smell two drinks!
Nick Butler : You smell!
-
Wally Davis : A house doesn't have to fall on me.
Nick Butler : It might help.
-
Police Chief Juan Rodriguez : Mr. Case, we did not shoot Rosario.
Wally Davis : You didn't shoot him? Why not?
Police Chief Juan Rodriguez : Because he... he escaped.
Wally Davis : Well, that's a good reason.
Mr. Steve Case : Whoever made you Chief of Police - you can't handle a simple job like shooting a man.
Police Chief Juan Rodriguez : Mr. Case, Rosario's men stormed the jail yard - 18, maybe 20 of them. But don't worry, I have clues. I shall capture him again, easily, within several months.
Wally Davis : Why don't you wait till he dies of old age.
-
Wally Davis : Nick's manners were always a bit trivial.
-
Nick Butler : Come on, hand over that dough.
Lee Donley : What are you talking about?
Nick Butler : The three hundred bucks you clipped me for last night.
Lee Donley : Well, I never tagged you for a bad loser.
Nick Butler : And I never tagged you for a phony shuffle either.
Lee Donley : Now, wait a minute, Mister. You've got yours all off the top. I just had the run of luck.
Nick Butler : I know that kind of house luck. Now, hand it over!
Lee Donley : I haven't got it.
Nick Butler : Haven't got it, huh? Want me to turn you upside down and shake it out of you?
Wally Davis : Can I stand here and watch?
Lee Donley : Look, I haven't got it. I hid it in town last night.
[Nick picks Lee up, turns her upside down, starts shaking her up and down]
Lee Donley : All right, all right, handsome. Put me down! I'll give it to you!
-
Wally Davis : I don't see Nick.
Steve Case : Probably playing tag with some dame.
Wally Davis : Well, there ain't no law against that, is there?
Steve Case : The way he plays it, there is.
-
Steve Case : That gilt-edged chiseler!
Wally Davis : Well, maybe so. He's the best man we ever had around here.
Steve Case : Well, that's no recommendation.
-
Nick Butler : [to Lee] If you think you're going to use this plantation as a hideout, you're daffy. You're going right back to town on the next train.
Wally Davis : That's tomorrow.
Nick Butler : [to Wally] Then, it's your job to pack her with the bananas and unload her at Puerto Aguilar.
Wally Davis : Well, have you got any more jobs like that?
