- O'Malley and Benson investigate alleged attacks by a winged dragon which may be linked to the theft of a mystical jeweled necklace from the grave of a Native American Princess. Meanwhile O'Malley and Bensen meet up with a beautiful representative of the Indian tribe, Jessie Turnbow and must deal with an unscrupulous rich artifact collector, George Armstrong, who may or may not have stolen the artifact, all the while trying to figure out what the dragon wants, or how to stop it.
- The special unit searches for the sandman. A being that possesses people and the victim experience radical behavioral changes.
- A popular children's TV character is suspected of being a Piper link whose been using his mind control power on children to make them commit crimes on his behalf. The Captain assigns Carl, the Gnome, to go undercover as another character on the TV show, which unexpectedly leads to him becoming a huge success, causing Carl's ego to grow even larger. When Nick confronts the Piper, he ends up being vilified by the press for attacking the lovable children's character.
- One of Kate's old boyfriends returns to town to rekindle their romance, while SU2 investigates a series of murders where the LINKS turn their victims (all male) into Stone Statues. Yes, they are the legendary Gorgons who are beautiful women who hide venomous snakes under their hair. When O'Malley is bitten while trying to save Kate Benson, they must track down the Gorgon and try to find a way to save O'Malley before he turns to stone.
- A 300 year old Ogre, who eats the flesh of strippers and hookers, captures Kate while she's undercover during the investigation. Meanwhile, Jonathan discovers that Carl has been "dating" a woman he met on-line who now wants to meet him in person. Unfortunately, he never told her that he's a Gnome.
- The bogeyman kills a babysitter. Special Unit 2 must find him, but he can only be seen by kids, gnomes, and banshees. Several years ago, a killing by the bogeyman was blamed on an innocent man, he's scheduled to be executed. They must find a way to prove the bogeyman was the killer and keep the public unaware of the special unit 2's mission.
- A caped and hooded creature made of straw (Scarecrow), is set loose on the city of Chicago after being dug up in the sewers by curious city workers. He walks around the city trying to cause enough fear in people that they are literally "scared" to death by their greatest fear. As Nicholas and Kate review the archives to research a previous Scarecrow case, they determine that his next objective would be to find a way to scare a massive amount of people at one time. Meanwhile, Nicholas has been mandated to attend anger management classes. Also, Carl panics when his ex-wife starts to harass him.
- A genie-like creature, called a Djinn, is getting close to her quota needed to become a free willed being able to cause chaos and destruction wherever she wishes. Just as Nick starts to get serious about his girlfriend Zoe, the Djinn puts her in danger as she tries to fulfill her final wish. Meanwhile, Carl is upset believing that nobody seems to remember or care that it's his birthday. Also, Captain Page lights a fire under Jonathan by bringing in an efficiency expert to evaluate him.
- A series of mysterious attacks on young women, leaving them comatose, brings the Special Unit 2 team in search of an aquatic link - a frightening version of the legendary 'Mer-Men".
- Halloween, or All Hallow's Eve, a holiday enjoyed by millions, but disliked by Special Unit 2 personnel, since it affords Links an opportunity to 'blend in' with the general population and wreak havoc. A mysterious unnamed Link has many mysterious and evil powers, one of which is to raise the dead. He resurrects four notorious criminals to help him crash a Halloween party and take hostages with the intent of demanding the Detective O'Malley be the one to deliver a powerful artifact to him, or else the hostages start dying.
- An Amorphian (a true Cupid) is being chased by a very upset Zaybar (an amphibious humanoid) who's mad at him for causing his girlfriend to fall in love with someone else by emitting a love potion that effects everyone near him. During an incident when the Zaybar almost catches Cupid, his fear makes him emit the potion which ends up turning an iron fisted Judge into a lovable softy. Before the Judge sentences one of the most horrible criminals too lightly, the team must catch Cupid so he can reverse the spell. As they travel back to Chicago, Cupid creates lots of trouble! Meanwhile, Jonathan tries to talk Marni into re-creating the potion in the lab, hoping she will fall in love with him.
- Nicholas talks Kate into going to her high school reunion, so he can finally meet Theresa, her best friend. Once there, they discover that Revenants (non-violent skeletal like creatures with sharp claws for hands who live inside the walls), are suddenly killing people. Since Kate caused chaos at her graduation with claims of seeing these creatures, none of her old classmates believe her now. Jonathan helps out in trying to determine why they're killing now and how to stop them. Meanwhile, Captain Page goes on vacation to his cabin in the woods, happy to get away from everyone, but soon discovers he's not alone! (note: special appearance by the band Joydrop).
- Something is seducing and killing young men, and the Special Unit 2 Squad suspects a young woman of being a 'spider mutant' link. A young girl is also attacked by the creature and is taken under the wing of O'Malley, who finds he has a growing attraction to the girl. Ultimately they discover that there are more of these beautiful and deadly 'black widows' than they anticipated and they must find the nest before they claim more victims.
- Detectives Benson & O'Malley track down a "Year Witch", that kills its victims by sucking the youth out of them; O'Malley becomes attracted to an enigmatic fashion designer, who's the primary suspect.
- Officer Kate Benson is rescued from a monster by the mysterious Nick O'Malley, who asks her to join his Special Unit 2, a top secret section of the Chicago P.D. tasked to control, detain, or exterminate mythological creatures aka 'Links.'
- Detective Nicholas O'Malley must infiltrate a pack of high powered power brokers in Chicago, who are suspected of having more than a few 'lycanthropic' tendencies. O'Malley must himself be infected with the werewolf bite to convince the others that he is one of them.
- A creature kills a couple in a familiar pattern, too familiar for Ed. Ed must make a deal with the one they captured to find the new creature.
- A mysterious creature is created from the medical waste from liposuction clinics. Yes it is a creature composed of ... FAT, roaming the sewer system of Chicago, in search of even more human fat to serve its insatiable appetite and it's not above killing to get a meal. Also O'Malley's former partner, a fellow detective is wrongly charged with the murder of a police officer, who was actually killed by the monster. O'Malley swears he will find a way to clear his friend's name.
- An ancient JAPANESE mummy arises from the dead, who can not only take the form of any handsome man he imagines in order to kidnap beautiful unsuspecting women, but can also do Matrix Style martial arts fighting as well. The better to beat Detective O'Malley with. The mummy needs three women to complete his sacrificial ceremony and O'Malley must stop him.
