Sally Loomis was trained as a dancer, a tumbler, and a baton twirler. At 17 she was judged the best drum majorette in the nation at a contest at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. She moved to Hollywood and appeared in three motion pictures, You're in the Army Now (1941), Coney Island (1943) and The Dark Horse (1946). During the war, she traveled about the country touring with the Marx Brothers; her favorite was Harpo, who, she reported, had a thing for her feet. Speaking of her feet, when she returned to St Paul, Minnesota, in 1947 the white cuffs of her majorette boots had been autographed by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Bob Hope, Charles Boyer, and Robert Young.
She married Ted Mosio, who was a drum major for the famous American Legion Post 8 Drum and Bugle Corps. She became the head majorette for the Corps and it was here where she adopted her Indian costume that eventually led to her being chosen as the Pontiac Indian.
