Doss passed away on 21 November 1989 in Lynchburg City, Virginia, USA. - The second of four children, Will Carter was raised in Appomattox, Virginia, and graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Political Communications.
Will decided the easiest route to Hollywood was through Washington, D.C. of all places: after college, he worked on Capitol Hill for eight years in the office of U.S. Senator John Warner of Virginia, eventually as the Senator's press secretary. His work included media relations for the Senate's Committees on Intelligence and Armed Services, both of which Warner led. Having learned all he could from Washington's theatrics, he moved to New York City and later Los Angeles. In New York, he studied acting under Broadway legend Betty Buckley at the Terry Schreiber Studios. He performed in off-off Broadway plays, one-man acts and independent films, including a role in director Mark Feinsod's "After an Autumn Day that Felt Like Summer." In Los Angeles, he studied under Lesly Kahn and Margie Haber; and soon thereafter, was cast in director Hans Canosa's "Conversations with Other Women," produced by Kerry Barden.
Carter will be featured as himself in an untitled Helmut Newton documentary, which is in production, under the direction of Julian Benedict and "Run, Lola Run's" Frank Griebe. He makes his studio film debut opposite Annette Bening and Gwyneth Paltrow in the highly anticipated movie, "Running With Scissors." The film is Golden Globe winner Ryan Murphy's big screen adaptation of Augusten Burroughs' best-selling memoir and also stars Jill Clayburgh, Alec Baldwin, and Joseph Fiennes.
