Jt Makes Jokes and Helps Honor Samuel L. Jackson

2 December 2008 1:30 PM, PST | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

Samuel L. Jackson was honored by friends and colleagues last night at the American Cinematheque gala in La. The event was sponsored by AMC, so Jon Hamm was out with his girlfriend to support Mad Men's home network, while Jt hammed it up on stage. To help roast his former costar, he said, "I am here because onscreen and off, I feel nothing but love for the great Samuel L. Jackson. At least for tonight that mysterious 'L' stands for 'Love,' man love — and there's nothing wrong with it." Kerry Washington and Denzel Washington were also among the celebrity presenters of the night, but we'll have to watch it on Dec. 9 to see who stole the show. To see more photos including Andy Garcia, George Lucas, and Vin Diesel, just read more. Images include: Jon Hamm, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Sharon Stone, Andy Garcia, Justin Timberlake, Vin Diesel,

1 December 2008 2:14 AM, PST | From Hollyscoop.com | See recent HollyScoop news

Who knew Hollywood's cutest couple lived in New York? Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were seen leaving ABC studios late last week looking like America's Sweethearts. The dapper Mr. Consuelos looked great in a form fitting suit and a pocket square that looks like it came from the costume department of Mad Men. Kelly looked great in a turquoise dress and an amazing jacket!! Now ladies, you may not be able to have her husband but you can at least have her coat! We loved Kelly's look so much we decided to Scoop The Look for less!...

Brothers & Sisters Episode 309 Recap: “Unfinished Business”

30 November 2008 10:31 PM, PST | From AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news

I’ll give this week’s B&S credit for this … at least they spared us one of those syrupy Thanksgiving episodes everybody’s so fond of this time of year.

You know, one of those episodes where somebody forgets to turn on the oven and the turkey’s still frozen, and somebody else is stuck in a snowstorm and might not make it home in time, and somebody else just found a letter from a recently deceased relative that they can’t quite bring themselves to open, and somebody else is waiting for the doctor to call with the test results, and they all come together at the table and realize everything they have to be thankful for, most especially having each other. I hate those episodes even more than I hate cranberry sauce from a can.

Mercifully, instead of all that, we open on Nora leading Saul, Kevin,

Could the 'Mad Men' be heading to Sin City?

30 November 2008 3:53 PM, PST | From TheWatcher | See recent The Watcher news

"Mad Men." Vegas. A match made in heaven, am I right? Back in October, several “Mad Men” cast members appeared in a live revue at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theater. Joel Murray (who plays Freddy Rumsen) emceed the charity event, which featured actors Patrick Fischler (who played Jimmy Barrett and who’ll soon guest on “Lost”), Colin Hanks (Father Gill), Maggie Siff (Rachel Menken) as well as Broadway veterans Bryan Batt (Salvator Romano) and Robert Morse (Bert Cooper), among others. “Mad Men” composer David Carbonara led a 13-piece orchestra, and an online montage posted recently hints at how delightful the evening...

Should 'Battlestar Galactica' Thank 'The Shield'?

26 November 2008 12:36 AM, PST | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

"Battlestar Galactica" isn't the only cable series behemoth looking to ends it run in the near future. The popular FX series "The Shield" did just that over the weekend, a show that proved basic cable could be the home for blockbuster television, especially in areas that were least expected like AMC (where Emmy-winning "Mad Men" airs). But how much of an influence has "The Shield" had on particular shows? Creator Shawn Ryan told TV Guide's Mickey O'Connor that SciFi Channel's signature series has a little "Shield" to be thankful for this holiday season. "We were making a show that was very, very fiscally responsible," Ryan said. "And that's the thing, in my opinion, that caused AMC, SciFi, TNT and TBS to really ramp up their production. Because, all of a sudden, if your costs ...

Magnum P.I. Casting Search Continues

24 November 2008 3:39 AM, PST | From Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news

Producer Brian Grazer has dismissed the rumor that Matthew McConaughey will play the lead in the upcoming Magnum P.I. movie adaptation, produced by his company, Imagine Entertainment. With a script and director Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball) already on board, casting has been the project's biggest problem. Grazer told MTV: "I think the idea for 'Magnum P.I.' is to find a counterpoint, to not try and find the new Tom Selleck but to find someone that is just so different that you go, oh my God! That guy is Magnum?!?" Sorry Matthew, apparently you're too Tom Selleck-y

Our dream casting: Mad Men's Jon Hamm as Magnum, The Office's Craig Robinson as T.C., Pineapple Express' Danny McBride as Rick, and Rowan Atkinson as Higgins.

Magnum P.I. casting, mostly Twilight style: Robert Pattinson as Magnum, Edi Gathegi as T.C., Peter Facinelli as Rick, and Bea Arthur as Higgins.

A bit more 'Lost' news found

19 November 2008 8:53 AM, PST | From TheWatcher | See recent The Watcher news

I posted an item yesterday about Patrick Fischler's upcoming guest role in Season 5 of "Lost." Here's some excellent news -- he won't just be in one Season 5 episode of the ABC drama, as a recent IGN.com story about the show indicated. He'll be in at least two episodes and possibly more, according to a "Lost" source. Fischler's character is named Phil. Fischler, who had a memorable guest turn as comic Jimmy Barrett on "Mad Men," is one of TV's hardest working character actors; he's been on everything from "Burn Notice" to "The Middleman" this year, in addition to...

Jimmy Kimmel & Sarah Silverman: Reunited?

19 November 2008 8:20 AM, PST | From E! Online | See recent E! Online news

Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel like to keep us guessing. The former couple, who announced in July that they were calling it quits after five years together, showed up arm-in-arm to last night's GQ Men of the Year party at L.A.'s Chateau Marmont hotel. They smiled and posed together for photographers on the red carpet but declined joint interviews. Once inside the star-studded bash, they held hands while talking to GQ editor-in-chief Jim Nelson. Later on, Silverman was spied planting a sweet peck on Kimmel's lips. They also chatted with Mad Men star Jon Hamm, who is one of the magazine's four cover stars (the other three are Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Phelps and...

Men of the Year Party With the Women Who Are Obsessions

19 November 2008 6:00 AM, PST | From Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news

Two out of GQ's four cover boy Men of the Year came out to celebrate at the Chateau Marmont in La last night. Jon Hamm and Leonardo DiCaprio both lived up to their steamy covers while Michael Phelps and Barack Obama (surprise) couldn't make it to the red carpet. Obsession of the year Megan Fox looked hot in pink and kept her boyfriend Brian Austin Green close for photos. Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel still don't want to define their relationship, but things seem very on again for this duo. January Jones looked glamorous as ever posing without her on-screen Mad Men husband Don Draper, but if the second season of the show taught us anything it's that Betty is just fine by herself. The party may have been about the men of the year, but the women held their own before heading in for a night of fun. To

'Mad Men' actor visits 'Lost'

18 November 2008 8:11 AM, PST | From TheWatcher | See recent The Watcher news

Update Nov. 19: There's more news on Fischler's "Lost" appearance here. Patrick Fischler, who had a memorable role as comic Jimmy Barrett in Season 2 of "Mad Men," will be part of "Lost's" fifth season. Eric Goldman of IGN posted a lengthy report on a recent appearance by "Lost" executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse at a screenwriting conference (don't worry, there are no spoilers in Eric's story). Some general highlights about the upcoming season from that event: Fischler (pictured at right on "Mad Men"; he was also great on "The Middleman" and "Burn Notice" this year) will appear...

Ask Matt: Is The Shield TV's Best Drama? Can Heroes Catch a Break? And More!

17 November 2008 1:18 AM, PST | From TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide.com - Breaking News news

TV Guide's Senior Critic Matt Roush takes your TV questions. Have a rant, rave or burning question about your favorite show you'd like addressed? E-mail him here!

Question: Since Mad Men has recently wrapped up its second season, do you think the final season of The Shield is the best drama on television right now? I agree with you that the initial episodes involving the Mexican and Armenian gang war was convoluted and a bit illogical at times, yet these last few episodes have been some of the best television I've seen in a long time. The scene where Vic almost shot Shane and Mara had to be one of the most suspenseful moments on any show. Other scenes, like when Vic finally turned in his badge and gun and called it quits or when Shane hinted at the idea of having to leave his family, were great as well.

Ask Matt: Will Big Bang Make an Emmy Splash? What's Next for Ghost Whisperer and More!

14 November 2008 1:18 AM, PST | From TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide.com - Breaking News news

The Big Bang Theory</i>" style="margin:0 5px 5px" />TV Guide's Senior Critic Matt Roush takes your TV questions. Have a rant, rave or burning question about your favorite show you'd like addressed? E-mail him here!

Question: I can't tell you how delighted I was to see The Big Bang Theory hit a series-high 10 million viewers last Monday. It is so nice to see people are finally noticing and watching the funniest sitcom on TV. I just love this show. I know it is ridiculously early, but do you think Jim Parsons will get an Emmy nomination this year? Sheldon has become the funniest character on TV, and the creativity and difficulty of learning all the science really makes Parsons a standout. Like I said, I know it is early, but what do you think of his chances, and how about The Big Bang Theory getting a nomination for best comedy show?

Supernatural Angels Want Mad Men's Hildy Dead

12 November 2008 10:45 PM, PST | From TVGuide.com - Features | See recent TVGuide - Features news

This week on the CW's Supernatural (Thursdays at 9 pm/Et), a religious young woman named Anna is wanted dead by the angels, yet wanted alive by the demons of hell. Say what?! Guest-star Julie McNiven — whom you might recognize as Pete's gal Friday, Hildy, on Mad Men — shares a look at how her mild-mannered character gets caught in the middle of a most unholy war. TVGuide.com: Anna can hear the voices of angels. How is it that Sam and Dean learn of her existence?

Julie McNiven: Ruby finds out about me — I don't know if she reveals her source — and then tells Sam and Dean about this girl who can hear angels' conversations. I'm locked up in a mental institution because, obviously, people think I'm insane.

TVGuide.com: How does Anna know that it's angels she's hearing?

McNiven: Because their conversations are all about the war that's brewing between Heaven and Hell,

Watch the 'Mad Men' (and women) sing and swing

11 November 2008 1:51 PM, PST | From TheWatcher | See recent The Watcher news

I took the day off today and wasn't going to post anything (ha, right, like I can ever resist). Anyway, this link required that I post it immediately. It's a montage of still photos and performance footage from a recent stage performance by the cast of "Mad Men." It was a charity performance in aid of the Grammy organization's music education programs, and not surprisingly, the cast of the show brought down the house, by all accounts. I once saw Bryan Batt perform Cole Porter's "Night and Day" at a TCA "Mad Men" party, and he simply slayed everyone. I'm...
