The Witcher is coming to an end. The show announced today on X that Netflix has picked up a fifth season of the fantasy adaptation, which will be its last.
“It’s official, The Witcher season 4 is in production. But that’s not all, we’re already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent,” Netflix confirmed.
As Netflix noted, Season 4 production is underway.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

Lionsgate Television is teaming with Park Chan-wook to develop an English-language TV adaptation of Park’s iconic film “Oldboy.”
Park directed and co-wrote the original film, which was itself loosely based on the Japanese manga of the same name. He will produce the new series version along with his producing partner, Syd Lim. Executives Courtney Mock and Tara Joshi are overseeing the project for Lionsgate Television. Bryan Weiser negotiated the deal.
“Lionsgate Television shares my creative vision for bringing ‘Oldboy’ into the world of television,” said Park. “I look forward to working with a studio whose brand stands for bold, original and risk-taking storytelling.”
Originally released in 2003, “Oldboy” tells the story of a man who is kidnapped and held prisoner in a sealed hotel room for 15 years. He is suddenly released with no explanation, only to learn he has five days to discover why he was imprisoned or face the consequences.

He may be unstoppable on the gridiron, but when it comes to hosting Saturday Night Live, Patrick Mahomes is a bit more tentative.

One of TV’s most magnetic pairings split up earlier this year, when Stuart Martin, The Duke of Miss Scarlet and the Duke, announced he wouldn’t reprise his role as William Wellington opposite Kate Phillips (the eponymous Miss Scarlet). It was a huge bummer for fans of the cozy PBS Masterpiece detective drama, who’d waited for the investigative duo to become a romantic one after four seasons. Despite the duke’s proclamation of love at the end of Season 4, it was not to be.

The Duke, who? Miss Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips) is getting a new partner in Miss Scarlet Season 5. Tom Durant-Pritchard has joined the cast of the show, which is currently filming in Belgrade, Serbia. Durant-Pritchard will play Alexander Blake, a handsome former soldier and respected detective inspector who joins the force at Scotland Yard to replace William “The Duke” Wellington who has gone to America. Shortly after he starts his new job, he meets Eliza. Masterpiece Alexander is not particularly shocked by a woman working as a private eye, so Eliza takes this to mean she’ll be given more cases. But their relationship gets off to a rocky start since Blake has decided not to allow private detectives to aid in his investigations. As Blake and Miss Scarlet cross paths at various crime scenes across London, they can’t help but develop mutual respect for one another, and perhaps even an attraction.

Paul Telfer brings more than pecs appeal to his role as Xander Cook on Days of Our Lives. The Daytime Emmy-nominated actor infuses his roguish character with charm and vulnerability, making his pairing with Linsey Godfrey’s Sarah a favorite among viewers. TV Insider caught up with the Scottish-born performer about his recent shoot for Playgirl, the Xander/Sarah pairing, and the show’s greatest off-screen love story between the late Bill Hayes (Doug) and his wife of nearly 50 years, Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie). Who better to bring back Playgirl than the hunks of Days who were no strangers to the magazine’s cover back in the 1990s? It’s a great way to remind viewers Days is now on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service. Paul Telfer: We’re still serving up hot, hunky love in the afternoon. American TV bosses obviously didn’t learn many lessons from “Episodes,” the Showtime/BBC co-production which brilliantly skewered the habit of adapting British sitcoms, and removing all nuances, subtleties, and idiosyncrasies in the process. In the 13 years since its premiere, there’s been numerous failed pilots (“Spy”), ratings disasters (“Free Agents”), and entire series considered unfit for public consumption (“Us and Them”) which originated across the pond. Now the most singular UK comedy of the 2010s is going transatlantic.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Episode 4 “Face the Strange.”] The crew’s latest encounter with Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis) sends two of its members on quite the timey wimey trip—including to Star Trek: Discovery‘s past and (hopefully not) future. Their foes planted a time bug on Adira’s (Blu Del Barrio) sleeve in the previous episode, and as a result, Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her Number One, Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie), go jumping through time. At one point, Burnham even encounters herself—the Season 1 version, fresh off being a mutineer and not trusted by any of the crew (including Airiam!). Revisiting the past version of her character and fighting her as the present-day one “was one of my favorite moments,” Martin-Green raves to TV Insider. “We had such an amazing time shooting it, and I loved being able to see the contrast between...

Earlier this month, the final episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm aired on HBO. Talk about the end of an era. “No Lessons Learned” didn’t just bring Larry David’s loosely autobiographical sitcom to a close after 12 seasons and twice as many years. You could also say that it waved goodbye to the kind of antagonistic humor in which the star-creator specialized, a comedy of confrontation, awkward misunderstanding, and faux pas. Larry was rude to the bitter, irreverent end. That made him something of an outlier in the small-screen landscape of the 2020s — an unfashionably unsentimental crank, the anti-Ted Lasso.

Greg Whiteley has a new sports docuseries at Netflix that really isn’t new at all. The seven-episode (at 45-minutes apiece) “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” will premiere this summer on Netflix. The streamer first announced the series on Thursday, when it also put out a teaser (below).
Greg Whiteley… Netflix… cheerleading docuseries… Why does this all sound so familiar? Oh yeah, it’s because Whiteley is the guy behind Netflix’s two-season docuseries “Cheer” (as well as the equally excellent five-season “Last Chance U”).
Fans of “Cheer” have been not-so-patiently waiting for a third season, so… isn’t this just that? Why not call “America’s Sweethearts” what it really is: “Cheer” Season 3. That’s what we want.
There’s plenty of precedent here. While “Cheer” Seasons 1 and 2 focused on competitive collegiate cheerleading (mostly) at Navarro College (also in Texas!), Whiteley’s precursor “Last Chance U” not only changed schools — it changed sports.

When Quinn Shephard (indie hit “Blame” and internet satire “Not Okay”) set out to adapt Rebecca Godfrey’s bestselling narrative non-fiction book “Under the Bridge,” about the 1997 murder of teenager Reena Virk, one key aspect of the book stood out to her beyond the crime.
“I was so struck by how gentle [the book] was,” Shephard told IndieWire during a recent interview. “And there was a real sensitivity to the way that it approached the holistic story, as well as all of the characters. It was a very beautiful book; it was very poetic. I was really shocked that a story that was so dark and so brutal could have so much tenderness. [It’s] really a story of childhood and coming of age.”

Like most things in Hollywood, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” began with a promise.
After years of whispered complaints about the sometimes-shady world of children’s entertainment, an investigative team set out to expose Dan Schneider’s Nickelodeon and the years of alleged abuse endured by the kids who worked there from 1994 to 2018. Others had tried to tell this story, but this time serious journalists planned to expose the industry’s seamy underbelly — documenting past wrongs, giving voice to victims, and charting tangible change.
Ex-kid actors and “Quiet on Set” subjects Raquel Lee Bolleau and Alexa Nikolas told IndieWire they were presented with a plan for an honest look at the issues and suffering borne out by their childhoods. Lee Bolleau (“The Amanda Show”) talked to the “Quiet on Set” producers about her passion for healing and protecting young performers still in the industry; Nikolas (“Zoey...

While multiple Korean TV series have connected with global audiences, Japan’s production committees, terrestrial broadcasters and talent agencies have kept their TV industry tightly focused on a local market.
Anime and variety have long remained the Japanese TV industry’s best-known exports, while the premium end of the spectrum has largely escaped Japanese producers. That is despite multinational shows like Hulu’s “Shogun,” HBO’s “Tokyo Vice” and Netflix’s “House of Ninjas” underscoring the potentially substantial overseas interest in Japan-set live-action drama.

A Wheel of Fortune contestant quipped back and forth with Pat Sajak on Wednesday night (April 17) after making it to the Bonus Round and losing out on a massive $100,000. The contestant in question was Brooke Smith, a young woman from Atlanta, Georgia, who told Sajak she’s recorded and watched every episode of Wheel for the past three or four years. She also described herself as an “avid reader,” reading between 50 to 100 books a year. Smith proved to have more than just book smarts as she took on Adam Williams from McKinney, Texas, and Samantha Hanna from St. Louis, Missouri, even though things didn’t start off too hot. After the Mystery Round, Smith trailed her opponents with $3,000 compared to Hannah’s $3,100 and Williams’ $12,050. However, Smith clawed back into the game during the Express Round, where she bagged herself $9,100 and a trip to The Crane Resort in Barbados worth $12,190. Smith...

The country star spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the grand opening of his new restaurant bar, Ole Red Las Vegas, on Wednesday (April 17), where he was asked about the chances of him coming back to the long-running singing competition series. “I miss the people. I mean, those people became like family to me, literally from the crew all up to the producers of the show. I was with them more than I was with my family… I miss that,” Shelton said. Shelton was part of The Voice‘s original coaching line-up alongside Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Cee-Lo Green. While the rest of the coaches swapped and changed over the years, Shelton remained a consistent presence for 23 seasons. However, while he misses his former co-workers,...

Stephen Colbert is hitting the road.
The Late Show host announced Wednesday night that he’s packing up his desk and suits and making his way to Chicago the week of August 19, where he’ll broadcast his show from the Windy City’s famed Auditorium Theater—a landmark venue that first opened its doors in 1889 and is “so creatively named,” joked Colbert.
Of course, the timing of Colbert’s road trip is important, as it just happens to coincide with the Democratic National Convention.
“It should be a fun time,” said Colbert. “Historically, all the democratic conventions in Chicago have gone super smooth.” The show then cut to a photo of the 1968 DNC, during which an estimated 10,000 Vietnam War protestors faced off against more than 20,000 police and National Guardsmen, resulting in hundreds of injuries.
Still, the host seemed overjoyed at the prospect of being so close to all the political action,...

The show, which was commissioned by Norwegian broadcaster Nrk and German broadcaster Zdf’s platform ZDFneo, is produced by Synnøve Hørsdal and Christian Fredrik Martin at Norway’s Maipo Film.
“A Better Man” centers on Tom, Norway’s No. 1 internet troll. He is a smart but angry and frustrated man with misogynistic tendencies, and an example of everything that is pathetic and wrong with the men who didn’t get the memo about the gender equality movement.

So here is Conan O’Brien, dressed like a Viking, facing down another, much slighter Viking gent who, in historic Viking tradition, must deliver an insult before a fight to the death ensues.
Except the adversary is struggling to come up with an insult. After trying “overgrown ginger,” he settles on something revealing Conan’s true native allegiance: “You hamburger-eating diabetic joke of a lost British colony.”
Yes, this takes place in Conan’s new series on Max, Conan O’Brien Must Go; but, despite the locale, we are in very familiar—and very funny—territory. One of the standout features of Conan’s distinguished late-night career, were his comedy “remotes.” (Search YouTube for “Best Conan Remotes”; you’ll thank me later.)

Late-Night Beat Down
The old saying goes, “If you come at the king, you best not miss.” That could likely be adapted to the late-night motto, “If you come for someone paid to tell jokes about you for a living, you’d best have some decent jokes of your own—or at least a competent fact-checker.” Sadly for Donald Trump, his recent decision to attack Jimmy Kimmel Live! and recent Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel demonstrated a serious lack of both comic ammunition and accuracy, as Trump’s social media shot blew up in his face on Wednesday.
Kimmel, naturally, was delighted to spend most of his Wednesday monologue breaking down every facet of Trump’s error-filled, occasionally all-caps tirade (with late-night colleague and podcast partner Stephen Colbert...
