The Witcher is coming to an end. The show announced today on X that Netflix has picked up a fifth season of the fantasy adaptation, which will be its last.
“It’s official, The Witcher season 4 is in production. But that’s not all, we’re already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent,” Netflix confirmed.
As Netflix noted, Season 4 production is underway.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

Lionsgate Television is teaming with Park Chan-wook to develop an English-language TV adaptation of Park’s iconic film “Oldboy.”
Park directed and co-wrote the original film, which was itself loosely based on the Japanese manga of the same name. He will produce the new series version along with his producing partner, Syd Lim. Executives Courtney Mock and Tara Joshi are overseeing the project for Lionsgate Television. Bryan Weiser negotiated the deal.
“Lionsgate Television shares my creative vision for bringing ‘Oldboy’ into the world of television,” said Park. “I look forward to working with a studio whose brand stands for bold, original and risk-taking storytelling.”
Originally released in 2003, “Oldboy” tells the story of a man who is kidnapped and held prisoner in a sealed hotel room for 15 years. He is suddenly released with no explanation, only to learn he has five days to discover why he was imprisoned or face the consequences.

The actress joined her former co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber on the latest episode of their How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast, where she opened up about the scary incident. “I almost died!” Bure said (per Parade). “That’s not even an exaggeration,” she added, noting that she still has “Ptsd” from the experience. She then described the stunt in which her character, D.J. Tanner, rode a zipline across the show’s living room set. However, she said the rig wasn’t properly set up and ended with an almost fatal accident. “During rehearsal, the rig was not set up correctly, and there was no safety stop on the end of [the zipline],” Bure recalled. “So when I landed off the zipline and stopped, the whole mechanism, which is all metal and very,...

Law & Order: Svu is about to make us miss Kelli Giddish‘s Amanda Rollins even more, isn’t it? Giddish guest stars in the May 2 episode, the 11th of Season 25, titled, “Prima Nocta.” In it, a runaway bride calls the Svu for help on the day of her wedding, and Rollins pitches in on her day off. That sounds primed for Rollins and her husband, Ada Sonny Carisi (Peter Scanavino), to talk about how she’s much happier working cases than teaching, as she currently is. “When she’s working with the squad, things are going to come out about that,” Scanavino tells TV Insider. It’s a situation that lends itself to having “to do all cards on the table. John Wilkes Booth was the worst. Even if he hadn’t assassinated Abraham Lincoln and ruined some of Reconstruction’s more powerful measures for integrating freed Black people into American social and political life, Booth was still a vain, violent, callow, self-aggrandizing bigot.
Anthony Boyle, who plays Booth in the gripping, bracing Apple TV+ limited series Manhunt, invests his performance with all of these facets of Booth’s personality, while never making him a caricature, and crucially, never allowing him to appear as an all-too-seductive antihero. Instead, drawing on the “self-delusion and grandeur and pure, pure narcissism” he found in Booth’s letters, Boyle shows what made the man such a riveting actor and wily foe, turning on a dime repeatedly in nearly every scene to calibrate his real-time performance as himself to get his way in his attempts to evade capture by the Union, directed by War Secretary Edwin Stanton...

This ought to go over just fine on Twitter/X. Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav’s executive compensation for 2023 was $49.7 million, according to a new filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission.
Here’s how the near-$50-million haul breaks down: Zaslav’s salary actually dipped a hair from 2022 to $3 million, his stock awards practically doubled to $23.1 million, and his non-equity incentive plan compensation stayed pretty steady at $22 million. Along with $1.6 million in the “other” category — pocket change, really — Zaslav’s 2023 compensation package was about 27 percent larger than his 2022 pay of $39.3 million.
Zaslav’s Discovery, Inc. merged with AT&T’s WarnerMedia on April 8, 2022. With a crazy options package revealed ahead of the closure, Zaslav’s estimated executive compensation for 2021 was $246.6 million — nearly $203 million of that from options. But here’s the rub: Options awards are not guaranteed, rather they are tied to the company’s stock price. If...

Jeopardy! super-champ Matt Amodio has come to the defense of a fellow contestant who lost Tuesday’s (April 16) game after an unfortunate Daily Double blunder. On Tuesday’s episode, Eric Reimund, a substitute teacher originally from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, took on Veronica Tabor, a study abroad advisor from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and reigning champion Alison Betts, who at that point had won three consecutive games. Reimund gave Betts a run for her money, answering multiple clues correctly and finding both Daily Doubles during the Double Jeopardy! round. However, he found himself having to rebuild his score after he forgot to phrase his (correct) answer in the form of a question. Amodio took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on the brutal mistake, noting that the pressure can get to you under the bright lights. He also used the moment to explain the unusual strategy he adopted during his 38-game winning streak.

If you want to make Jimmy Kimmel really happy, just get into the verbal ring with him and fire away with blows high and low.
Kimmel is personally a big-hearted, generous guy with a mostly even temperament. But if invited between the ropes, boy does he like to mix it up.
Maybe it’s the Brooklyn in him (his birth place), because anybody from Brooklyn (in my experience) has a taste for what used to be called a “rank-out contest.”
You toss an insult; you get two back. In the face.
That pretty much defines what we have going on right now: a rank-out contest. Only this isn’t the playground, or even morning-zoo talk radio. It’s a significant development in perhaps the most consequential political campaign in American history.

The fact that Donald Trump’s ongoing felony criminal trial has been struggling to impanel a jury based on the former President and defendant’s signature strategy of siccing his fanatical supporters on people he doesn’t like is rapidly popularizing the term even further.
Not that Trump is alone—as soon as the jury pool was whittled down to a handful of lucky citizens, news outlets have rushed to publicize literally every personal detail they can glean from the proceeding’s increasingly inadequate privacy policies. At least one chosen...

Disgraced former congressman George Santos appeared in federal court Thursday afternoon, but for once he wasn’t the defendant. That honor went to Jimmy Kimmel.
The pretrial conference, which Kimmel did not attend, offered a preview of what’s come when/if the case actually goes to trial.
Santos is suing Kimmel, ABC, and Disney for fraud, alleging that Kimmel misrepresented himself when he commissioned over a dozen Cameo videos from Santos in December.
The videos, purchased for $500 a piece, saw Santos reading from outlandish scripts and were aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live! under the rubric of a feature Kimmel dubbed “Will Santos Say It?”
Santos alleges that Kimmel’s on-air use of the videos violated his copyright, and broke Cameo’s terms of service. Santos also argues that Kimmel committed fraud when he used aliases to commission the videos “for the sole purpose of capitalizing on and ridiculing” Santos.

When Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) step away for a romantic weekend together, the ghosts stumble upon their long-lost compadre, Flower who fell into the Woodstone well after chasing a butterfly. It turns out that the ghost who was actually “sucked off” at the end of Season 2 was actually basement ghost Ralph (Tyler Alvarez) who was bunking with attic girl, Stephanie (Odessa A’zion). With that mystery solved, the question of how to get Flower out of the well was raised. In the world of Ghosts, spirits aren’t able to climb walls, but need ground to walk on. When construction...

One of the fundamental mysteries of Ghosts has been finding out how each of the ghosts ended up dead in the first place — the only common thread between them being that they all died at Woodstone Mansion at some point in history. The latest of the undead to get the spotlight is Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), the uptight lady of the manor and Sam’s great-great-great-great-great aunt, whose death story is finally revealed in Thursday’s episode.
Unlike previous death revelations on the CBS comedy, Hetty’s was intertwined with the welcomed return of Flower (Sheila Carrasco), who had been stuck in a well this entire time and not “sucked off” as previously thought. But her return wasn’t without its obstacles; the well she was in was about to be filled up with concrete, accelerating the ghosts’ urgency to get her out safely. Enter Hetty.

In the episode, “Holes are Bad,” when Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) go away for the weekend, the ghosts are left alone — and discover that Flower (Sheila Carrasco) hadn’t been “sucked away” to the afterlife as they thought. Instead, she’s been stuck at the bottom of a well, and had no way of getting out of it.

Holes are bad, Thursday’s episode of Ghosts tells us, because spirits can’t climb up the sides. That doesn’t bode well for Flower, who’s stuck in a well. But Hetty also found herself in a hole of sorts, with no way out, while still alive.
In 1895, Hetty learns that her husband Elias has disappeared and all his legal troubles now fall on her shoulders. When the police come knocking, Hetty sequesters herself in the library, where they recently got one of the first phones in the area. In the present, she claims that she died of an...

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Apollo Global Management are considering a possible joint bid for Paramount Global.
News of the discussions was first reported by the New York Times. Sources close to the situation confirmed the conversations but cautioned that there are numerous obstacles that would need to be overcome before the sides could formally submit an offer. Apollo previously floated a $26 billion offer for Paramount by itself and before that it floated an $11 billion offer for the Paramount Pictures film studio on its own.
At present, Paramount Global is in the midst of an exclusive 30-day negotiating window with Skydance Media.

In Young Sheldon’s Season 7 premiere, Mandy swore that she would never move back in with her parents. “She’s pretty adamant that she would never do it,” executive producer Steve Holland told TVLine at the time. “Although, six or seven people in one house, with one bathroom, can start to wear thin after a while” — especially when that bathroom no longer has a working toilet.

Jeopardy!‘s regular gameplay continues and with it the streak of five-day champion Alison Betts, who returned to play alongside new competitors Marko Saric and Rob Blumenstein. The writer and creative executive from San Jose, California had already won $121,500 over her first five games, but was the latest episode about to raise her earnings? In the Jeopardy! round, Alison started strong, finishing in the lead with $5,000 against Rob’s $3,600 and Marko’s $4,400. Robert Smigel’s Triumph the Insult Comic Dog returned Thursday in a video that recalled his heyday at Late Night With Conan O’Brien.
Former President Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial—the one in which he’s charged with 34 felony counts surrounding an alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels—kicked off in Lower Manhattan with jury selection this week, and Smigel wasted no time getting the cigar-chomping puppet down on the scene.
The video finds Triumph interacting with the crowd of Trump supporters outside the courthouse — or as he puts it, “a real who’s who of who’s off their meds.”
At times, the jokes get lost among the clash of arguing bystanders, but the ten-minute video is full of Triumph’s typically cutting quips: “I think Trump’s kind of losing it. He’s even starting to slur his slurs,” he tells two Trump supporters at one point.

Fallout‘s a hit! Prime Video has officially renewed its hit series for a second season following a strong debut. Hailing from Kilter Films and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Fallout is based on one of the greatest video games about the haves and have-nots in a world where there’s almost nothing left to have. Set two hundred years after the apocalypse, the inhabitants of fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape that their ancestors left behind and are shocked to find a complex and gleefully strange universe waiting for them. The renewal comes just a week after the show’s debut. Prime Video Nolan directed the first three episodes and Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as executive producers, creators, and co-showrunners on the project which became a hit within its first four days on the Prime Video platform, ranking among the service...

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.

Sacrifice. Dedication. Redemption. Without these things, the battle of Veldt might have been lost. But, as we learn in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon –– Part Two: The Scargiver, when a group of heroes band together to fight for what they believe in, nothing can stop them — not even the Imperium.
“If movie one is the set-up — where we see the team being collected and a proposed elimination of the threat — movie two is a war movie,” Snyder told Netflix. “In Part Two, our heroes have to fulfill their promise of defending Veldt with every bit of their wit and cunning to protect their homes and everything they love.”
Part Two also gives us insights into our revolutionaries as we learn their backstories and what drew them to the tiny moon of Veldt to defend the villagers against the Imperium.

Max is serving the travel docuseries genre up in a sweet four-episode comedic package titled Conan O’Brien Must Go, in which the former late-night TV host brings his unique sense of humor around the globe. There are more than a few reasons to tune into the newly-dropped title on Max, but we’re breaking down a few of them, below: 1. The caliber of guests. The premise of the series involves O’Brien visiting different countries around the world to spend some quality time with fans who have called into his podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. Surprising them at their front doors, he interacts with the varying personalities in different ways to deliver the best possible comedic beats. The visits are also endearing as O’Brien attempts to help these fans with their own ventures like promoting their bands or boosting their radio listening base. 2. For almost as long as there has been a Late Night With Seth Meyers there has been “A Closer Look,” which is essentially Meyers’ version of a monologue.
Except instead of a traditional monologue, where the topic changes almost as quickly as the jokes fly, “A Closer Look” allows Meyers to sometimes spend 10-plus minutes engaging in a deeper conversation about the biggest news story of the day, which could be about anything from Donald Trump’s legal woes to Rudy Giuliani’s repulsive bathroom habits (note: there’s usually at least one Giuliani joke—even if the former NYC Mayor is not in the news).
With hundreds of “A Closer Look” segments in the can, you might think that asking Meyers to choose a favorite might be a lot like asking a parent to choose their favorite child.

That was down from $50.3 million for Sarandos in 2022, according to Netflix’s proxy statement filed Thursday with the SEC. In 2023, Sarandos had a base salary of $3 million, $28.3 million worth of stock option awards, a $16.5 cash bonus and $1.98 million in other compensation. In his seven-part Netflix miniseries, “Baby Reindeer,” adapted from his one-man show, Scottish writer and comedian Richard Gadd recounts the true story of being harassed and stalked for years. Compelling and unsettling, Gadd, who portrays Donny Dunn, the fictionalized version of himself, transports the audience to one of the most painful periods of his life. The series untangles the nuances of his emotions, his stalker’s temperament and past incidents that fortified his frame of mind at the time. Shocking, hilarious, painful and devastating, “Baby Reindeer” is a rare gem on television, reminding us of what is possible in the medium.

Netflix added a whopping 9.33 million subscribers in the first quarter of the year, an impressive figure that blew away Wall Street’s expectations. We now know it has just shy of 270 million subscribers worldwide.
Well, don’t get used to it. 2024 is the last year Netflix will share publicly how many subscribers it added or lost in a given quarter during its quarterly earnings reports, the company announced on Thursday to kick off its fiscal 2024.
The streamer writes that beginning in Q1 2025, Netflix will “stop reporting quarterly membership numbers and Arm,” which stands for “average revenue per membership.” So not only will we not know each quarter how many subscribers Netflix has at a given moment, we also won’t know how much revenue it made off each of those subscribers.
The company explains it’s now focused on revenue, operating margins, and engagement (time spent on Netflix) as its main barometers for success.
