Four years after Showtime’s award-winning Homeland ended its eight-season run, star Claire Danes and creator Howard Gordon are reuniting at Netflix.
The streaming giant has handed out a straight-to-series order for The Beast in Me, a limited series starring Danes and from showrunner Gordon.
Created by Gabe Rotter, Netflix says the mystery thriller revolves around “acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs, who since the death of her young son has receded from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Sheldon, a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth — chasing his demons while fleeing her own — in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.

Florence Pugh is back on a Marvel set. The actress shared a behind-the-scenes tour of the Atlanta set where she is currently filming the upcoming Thunderbolts on Wednesday.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I know I’ve dropped off for a little bit, but that’s partially because I was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot a movie that I’m not really supposed to talk about,” Pugh said in a video posted to Instagram. “But I can show you things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone…I can show you a sneak peek of the set.”
Pugh plays assassin Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her character first appeared in 2021’s Black Widow and later in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
In her video, Pugh appears in costume, lifting the camera to show off Yelena’s suit and then moving to reveal several of the structures under construction for Thunderbolts.

Almost a decade ago, in 2015, it was announced that a Sister Act remake was in the works. However, fast-forward five years to 2020, and with Whoopi Goldberg showing interest in reprising her role as Deloris Wilson, Disney opted for a sequel, Sister Act 3, as a direct to streaming movie for Disney+ in December 2020. In the years that have followed, the presumed sequel has been stuck in production limbo without gaining much needed traction. Despite its slow pace, however, Goldberg says Sister Act 3 is still in the works!

In the months leading up to the settlement between Disney and Gov. Ron DeSantis, both sides were growing weary.
At the top of the year, Disney lost a pivotal First Amendment lawsuit claiming that the Republican governor violated its free speech rights by assuming control of the special tax district that encompasses the entertainment giant’s 25,000-acre resort. The ruling further endangered plans to invest $17 billion over the next decade to fuel growth at Walt Disney World.
DeSantis wasn’t fairing any better. He lost hundreds of millions of dollars in economic development when Disney, calling him “anti-business,” yanked plans for an office complex in Orlando that would’ve added more than 2,000 high-paying jobs and faced the prospect of the company abandoning — or at least delaying — further investment. DeSantis and Disney had a lot to gain by pursuing the litigation, primarily unilateral developmental control of the company’s sprawling theme park.

Jason Biggs is opening up about his past battles with alcohol, revealing he used to hide his addiction from his wife, Jenny Mollen.
The American Pie alum made a recent appearance on his wife’s podcast All the Fails, where he admitted that he continued to drink alcohol while attending counseling.
“I’m going to therapy and ‘working on things,’ but meanwhile I’m leaving therapy, having just had a good session, and I’m going to the liquor store and buying a fifth of vodka, drinking it and then driving home,” Biggs recounted.
Mollen said she was shocked to learn that she never realized the extent of his alcohol addiction. “How did I not notice?” she asked.
“I knew how to get wasted enough to where I took myself out of the life equation, took myself out of the present, didn’t have to connect in a way that made me feel things,...

Anthony Mackie has been a stalwart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since debuting as Sam Wilson/Falcon in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The actor’s MCU tenure has included “Avengers” movies and the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” and now Mackie is taking on the mantle of Captain America in the upcoming film tentpole “Captain America: Brave New World.”
While promoting his latest series “Twisted Metal” in the United Kingdom, Mackie compared the project to his experience making Marvel movies and told Radio Times there was a lot more storytelling freedom to be had outside of the MCU.
“I would say the Marvel thing is completely different, just because it’s such a space of controlled entertainment. Like, there’s only so much you can do,” Mackie observed. “There’s only so much creativity you can bring to the table, because Stan Lee gave us so much content.

Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are the newest British celebrities up for knighthood and damehood in the United Kingdom for their services to the film industry, according to The Associated Press.
The newly Oscar-winning director and producer of Oppenheimer took home best picture at this year’s Academy Awards for their J. Robert Oppenheimer biopic, starring Cillian Murphy. The film won six other awards that night, including best actor for Murphy, supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr. and directing for Nolan, among others. The acclaimed filmmaker had previously been nominated for Memento, Inception and Dunkirk.
Typically, the news of who will be receiving the honor of knighthood and damehood is announced at the beginning of the year and on King Charles III’s birthday, since he is the one who does the knighting. Will Ronna McDaniel land another TV gig? There is already interest in the former Republican National Committee chair brewing from a couple of cable news outlets.
Sources at both Newsmax and NewsNation tell The Hollywood Reporter that they would be interested in pursuing a deal with McDaniel, should she ultimately finalize a separation agreement with NBC News.
McDaniel has been seeking a lawyer to negotiate an exit from NBC, which announced her hire as an NBC News contributor last Friday and reversed course just a few days later after facing backlash from MSNBC stars like Rachel Maddow and the Morning Joe team, not to mention an on-air rebuke from Chuck Todd on Meet the Press just minutes after McDaniel’s debut appearance.
McDaniel is likely to receive a hefty payout from NBC, given her two-year, $300,000 per year deal, though sometimes negotiations result in a lower payout in exchange for a shorter noncompete.

South Korean animation house Mofac Animation is working on a new feature inspired by both Charles Dickens and the life of Jesus Christ.

There’s a myth in Hollywood that circulates around the start of every year that once all the Oscars have been handed, insiders can collectively catch their breath and resume a normal schedule. But that’s not really ever the case, especially for the fashion crowd that keeps a breakneck pace year-round.
That said, in the wake of the Academy Awards, there’s no better time to extend the congratulations and pats on the back one more round by honoring the linchpins of the red carpet season — celebrity stylists. That’s just what The Hollywood Reporter did on Wednesday with the rollout of the annual list of Hollywood’s Top 25 Stylists, published in print and online and toasted with a starry event at Sunset Tower co-hosted by Instagram.

It’s only been six months since the release of Liam Neeson’s last film, which means theaters are overdue for another thriller led by the prolific star. His latest vehicle, “In the Land of Saints and Sinners,” arrives with an unusual distinction: Directed by Robert Lorenz, the film premiered in Venice a month before another Neeson movie, the maligned bomb-threat thriller “Retribution,” hit U.S. screens. Being selected by such a festival lends ”Saints and Sinners” a whiff of prestige, which it decidedly earns. In fact, the film practically resembles a “one for me” endeavor for the star, with its windswept Irish landscapes and thoughtful reserve, putting the actor among an ensemble of his fellow countrymen and providing the performances room to find poignancy.
The story opens with its most suspenseful action: a bombing by an Ira platoon in Belfast that accidentally kills a group of young children, setting...

A high-profile investor has disclosed a significant stake in Fox Corp.
Steve Cohen, the hedge fund billionaire and owner of the New York Mets on Tuesday revealed that his firm, Point72, now owns about 5 percent of Fox’s shares, with a market value of about $350 million as of writing.
Point72 owns just shy of 10 million shares, with another 2.37 million exercisable in options. The company disclosed the holdings on a form 13G with the Securities and Exchange Commission, suggesting that it is a passive investment (active investments are usually filed on form 13D).
While Cohen is one of the most high-profile investors in the country (the character of Bobby “Axe” Axelrod in the Showtime series Billions is loosely based on Cohen), he is not known for running activist campaigns. Instead, Point72 is known for identifying opportunistic investments that other firms may have missed, and making large, concentrated bets on them.

The new cast of The Real Housewives of New York is sticking around, as Bravo has officially announced that all six stars — including Jenna Lyons — will return for season 15.
Bravo shared the news in a promotional video, featuring the women on a simulated group FaceTime call.
“Is it there?” asks Jessel Taank.
“Listen to me, it’s there!” responds Ubah Hassan.
“I don’t know if it’s there,” says Sai De Silva.
“Well … I heard it’s really close,” interjects Brynn Whitfield, winking to the camera.
Erin Lichy then tells her co-stars, “Guys, I’m telling you — it’s there!”
Lyons adds, “Honestly, I’m going to be the one to dispel the rumors, because season 15, it’s there.”
Nodding to her comment about Tribeca in the previous season, Taank closes the video saying the upcoming season is “really up and coming.”
The premiere date for Rhony season 15 has not been shared yet.

Magnolia Pictures has released a trailer ahead of the May 3 release of “Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg,” about the legendary muse to the Rolling Stones. Scarlett Johansson provides the voice for Pallenberg, based on the words of her unpublished memoir. Pallenberg’s children, Marlon and Angela Richards, and their father, Keith Richards are also included in the docu.
Alexis Bloom and Svetlana Zill direct the portrait of the rock ‘n’ roll actor, muse and mother who was called an “evil seductress” and accused of trying to break up the Rolling Stones.
The documentary screened at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, with critic Owen Gleiberman describing Pallenberg as the “beautiful and imperious scenester of the ’60s and ’70s, Hollywood actress and icon of scruffy-chic rock royalty, partner of Keith Richards, muse to several of the other Rolling Stones.”
The review continues, “In addition to Pallenberg’s memoir, the...

Sean “Diddy” Combs’s ex-girlfriend Yung Miami is now being roped into his legal troubles, accused of transporting narcotics for him in additions filed Monday to Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones’ lawsuit against the rapper-mogul, according to updated court documents.
Caresha Romeka Brownlee, 30, is accused of transporting the drug referred to as “pink cocaine” for Combs in April, according to details added to the $30 million lawsuit Rodney Jones Jr., the music producer also known as Lil Rod, filed against Combs in February.
In 25 pages added to Jones’ filing on Monday and obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the suit claims the 54-year-old was partial toward the so-called “pink cocaine” or “2C-b” or “tuci.” The drug is classified as phenylethylamine 2C-b and is a combination of ecstasy and cocaine; Diddy was obtaining the drugs from Brendan Paul, Diddy’s accused drug mule, who was recently arrested. Esteemed cinematographer Benoît Delhomme’s credits have included a conspicuous number of thoughtful, visually sumptuous period pieces, such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Theory of Everything and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, as well as a few films made to promote fashion brands like Balmain, Dior and Chanel. In a way, that résumé partially explains why he might have been inclined to make his directorial debut with Mothers’ Instinct, for which he also serves as the Dp.
This pulpy, psychologically shallow and yet beautifully shot period thriller is all about two soignée suburban housewives — played by Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway — who spend the film’s 96 minutes suffering, scheming and losing their minds while wearing immaculate vintage-inspired costumes. Ultimately, the characters’ motivations, like their titular instinct, are weakly delineated, but viewers are well-advised not to worry their pretty little heads about any of that and just concentrate on the pantsuits.

It’s a heartbreaker for Heartstopper.
Emmy winner Olivia Colman will not return for the third season of Netflix’s British coming-out comedy.

Series creator Alice Oseman responded to the news on her Instagram Story, explaining that the production “tried absolutely everything we could” to get Colman back for the role, but it “wasn’t meant to be, and that’s just the way the TV world works sometimes.”

Nearly 40 years after Roger Ebert’s one-star review of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet, in which the late critic alleged that Isabella Rossellini was “degraded,” the film’s star is speaking out on how incorrect she believes Ebert’s assessment was.
Speaking with IndieWire, Rossellini said she didn’t read Blue Velvet reviews when the film came out — which she avoids for any of her work — because “even if [the review is] good, there is always one sentence that is negative and stays inside you forever.” However, Ebert’s words were unavoidable, as she was told his review mentioned that Lynch, who was Rossellini’s partner at the time, “exploited” her.
“I was surprised, because I was an adult,” she recalled. “I was 31 or 32. I chose to play the character.”
In the film, Rossellini plays Dorothy Vallens, who is raped and abused by gangster Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper), who has also kidnapped her husband,...

Larry David Calls Trump “Sick Sociopath” and Claps Back at Chris Wallace Over Net Worth in Interview
Larry David had some blunt words about former President Donald Trump and his ongoing false claims that the 2020 election was stolen, calling the mogul a “little baby,” a “sick man” and a “sociopath” while appearing on Chris Wallace’s new streaming show this week.
David, whose long-running HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm concludes its 12th and final season April 7, did not hold back while speaking with longtime cable news host Wallace on his new Max series, Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? The final season’s plot has David’s curmudgeon character becoming a cause célèbre after he’s arrested for offering water to a woman waiting in line to vote in Georgia, referencing a new law there following the 2020 election. (The plot also invoked Trump’s mugshot.)

“Biracial. Bilingual. I was a synthesis of incompatibilities, so what did I do?” Hoa Xuande’s The Captain says at the beginning of the trailer, over scenes of his spy work. “Saigon 1975. I was a man of two faces. The war was ending, and I awaited my new assignment.”
When his handler, played by Downey, appears in Vietnam, he tells The Captain his next job for the CIA is in America. “By the time I’m through with you, you’ll be able to blend in with the Harvard rowing crew,” Downey tells him.

In Civil War, the grisly, cautionary new film from A24 and Alex Garland, there’s a scene toward the end of the second act in which a machine gun-toting Jesse Plemons asks Wagner Moura, “What kind of American are you?” When Moura was filming in Atlanta two years ago, the stomach-turning threat inherent in the line awoke a latent nightmare in the actor. “I’m an American citizen, but I speak with an accent and I’m not from here,” says Moura. “It made me start thinking about, ‘What if I’m driving somewhere deep in the U.S. and I stop at a gas station and someone asks me where I’m from or what I’m doing there? How would I react?’”
Moura, who launched a successful acting career in his native Brazil before breaking out more widely with his role as Pablo Escobar in Narcos, stars — along with Kirsten Dunst,...

Following Bravo’s reboot of “The Real Housewives of New York City” last year, the network has announced that all six cast members are set to return for its upcoming Season 15. Yes, that includes even the ostensibly elusive, seemingly reluctant Jenna Lyons, who came into the show’s 14th season as the cast’s only famous person, and revealed herself over the course of the show to be a shy, charming oddball — and who, since the season premiered in July of last year, has been the subject of endless rumors speculating that she would not care to repeat the experience.

“I’m beginning to wonder if you’re not destined for very great things, Nelly Jackson. I’m beginning to wonder if you’ve been sent to the planet for something special.” So Nell (Louisa Harland) is told midway through Disney+’s Renegade Nell, but by that point the prediction feels like a wild understatement. After all, it’s coming from Billy Blind (Nick Mohammed), the mysterious sprite who occasionally grants her otherworldly gifts of strength, speed and invulnerability. Surely the narrative gods never intended her to apply such strange talents to a humdrum life.
What that specific “something special” might be, however, proves more difficult to pin down. Nell accomplishes plenty over the adventure’s first season, such that this common nobody even gets tangled up in the struggle between Queen Anne (Jodhi May) and the Jacobite traitors who would overthrow her. But Renegade Nell never does deliver on...

Sphere Entertainment, which runs the giant spherical venue in Las Vegas that opened last year, has hired Ned McNeilage as its chief creative officer.
McNeilage will help shape the creative and brand strategy for Sphere, a venue with the world’s largest interior and exterior wraparound LED displays. Before joining Sphere, McNeilage served as chief creative officer at Vml, working on creative campaigns for Microsoft, Ibm and Google, and before that he had the same title at Bbh LA, where his brand credits included Samsung, American Express and Activision.
“Sphere has expanded the possibilities for artists and brands to express themselves through an entirely new medium, and I am eager to work with our partners and across the entire Sphere team to continue exploring the power of Sphere to connect with audiences in innovative ways,” he said in a statement Thursday.
