In news likely to simultaneously delight and appall across the cinema world, a third instalment of IP-bludgeoning slasher ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ has been confirmed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Chambers of prolific horror banner Jagged Edge Productions.
According to the producers, ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will introduce new characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps and the woozles. All will no doubt be given sadistic, murderous twists.
The news comes with ‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2’ now in U.S. cinemas as part of its 3-day theatrical run via Fathom Events, and just over a year after the release of the first of what is now a quick-fire three-part franchise.

Warner Bros. is doubling down on the business of Timothée Chalamet. The studio signed a multi-year feature film deal with the actor to collaborate on future projects as a star and producer.
Chalamet led back-to-back box office hits for Warner Bros. with last December’s “Wonka” ($632 million globally) and this March’s “Dune: Part Two” ($575 million globally and counting). According to the studio, he became the first actor in four decades to star in the top two domestic films that were released in eight months.
Chalamet will enjoy a salary bump after those box office riches. The actor earned more than $8 million for “Wonka,” according to sources. Now, he’s looking at paydays in the double digits for leading roles in studio films.
Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-chairs and CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, said they are “thrilled that [Chalamet] has chosen our studio to be his creative home.

Florence Pugh is back on a Marvel set. The actress shared a behind-the-scenes tour of the Atlanta set where she is currently filming the upcoming Thunderbolts on Wednesday.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I know I’ve dropped off for a little bit, but that’s partially because I was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot a movie that I’m not really supposed to talk about,” Pugh said in a video posted to Instagram. “But I can show you things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone…I can show you a sneak peek of the set.”
Pugh plays assassin Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her character first appeared in 2021’s Black Widow and later in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
In her video, Pugh appears in costume, lifting the camera to show off Yelena’s suit and then moving to reveal several of the structures under construction for Thunderbolts.

Almost a decade ago, in 2015, it was announced that a Sister Act remake was in the works. However, fast-forward five years to 2020, and with Whoopi Goldberg showing interest in reprising her role as Deloris Wilson, Disney opted for a sequel, Sister Act 3, as a direct to streaming movie for Disney+ in December 2020. In the years that have followed, the presumed sequel has been stuck in production limbo without gaining much needed traction. Despite its slow pace, however, Goldberg says Sister Act 3 is still in the works!

Although there’s a healthy debate to be had regarding which of DC’s superheroes is the strongest, it’s fairly evident that there’s no character within the fictional universe who has a greater rogue’s gallery than Batman. Ever since Bob Kane created the character in the late 1930s, Batman comics and adaptations have featured a wide variety of memorable antagonists who challenge the Dark Knight’s physical, emotional, and ethical limits.

It is a valid question, in just the past year we've gotten movies such as Air, Tetris, Blackberry, The Beanie Bubble, Dumb Money, and the Oscar-nominated Flamin' Hot. Now, it is Pop-Tart's turn, at least it is, according to Seinfeld and Netflix, with the arrival of the new comedy movie Unfrosted.

While most episodes of Longmire stick to purely fictitious mysteries at heart, sometimes the acclaimed neo-Western would venture into more tender topics that have their roots deep in American history. Based on the series of novels by Craig Johnson, the show was never afraid to stray away from the original books in favor of more topical material, and such was the case with Season 3's "Miss Cheyenne." This episode not only highlights the beauties of Cheyenne culture but also notes the dark Native American history hiding just beneath the surface.

For his latest film, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick), Guy Ritchie (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) has assembled a suicide squad of epic talent in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is set to rampage into theaters soon, and just like the previous Monsterverse films, the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel boasts a star-studded cast of human characters. The human storylines of prior films aren't usually treated with as much urgency as the monster fighting, but Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's characters have some added pressure this time around. That's because the latest non-Monsterverse Godzilla film, that being the record-breaking Godzilla Minus One, shattered expectations with an exceptional human storyline populated by fleshed-out characters.

It’s certainly impressive that some of Hollywood’s highest grossing stars are those who are willing to lend their talents to a vast variety of projects within many genres. While the commitment that actors like Samuel L. Is Whoopi Goldberg returning to Star Trek? Her The View co-host Joy Behar seems to think so, at least. As captured by Twitter user Kyle Arking, during an appearance by Zoë Saldaña and director Marco Perego on the talk show to discuss their upcoming film The Absence of Eden, the conversation turned to the latest announcement of a fourth Star Trek film starring Saldaña and her crewmates from the 2009 J.J. Abrams reboot film. Saldaña was asked if she had any updates herself, prompting Behar to advise Goldberg, "don't tip your hand yet" and not to "let them know you got the job." It’s no secret that Lucasfilm, in recent years, hasn’t had an exceptional batting average regarding films announced and projects made. There’s a likable, light-hearted zip to the monster mash follow-up but energy dissipates when we’re stuck with the humans
It was a strange old time when the creature feature mash-up Godzilla vs Kong was released, the first major blockbuster in cinemas since Covid shuttered them all a year prior. Expectations were low, thanks to how rotten the last two Godzilla films had been, but thirst for something, anything, truly escapist was high and the big screen equivalent of a kid smashing his toys together became an unlikely saviour, both commercially and critically.
Three years later with normality resuming, there’s arguably less audience demand for another instalment, although the industry could definitely do with another monster hit, the strikes leaving the first few months of 2024 a little weakened. Many legendary animators and artists have worked at Disney over the years, such as Ub Iwerks, the co-creator of Mickey Mouse. However, the most famous animators have to be the Nine Old Men. Nicknamed after Franklin D. Roosevelt's comment about his nine Supreme Court Justices, these men were trained on Disney's Silly Symphony cartoons before working on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. They would become Disney's main core animators up to The Rescuers, and in 1989, were all named Disney Legends.

Lizzy Caplan is an actress who can be thrown into any genre, as she will always find her footing, and the ability to flourish in that role. She is incredibly versatile, transitioning from comedy roles in Mean Girls and Party Down to drama TV shows like Fleishman Is in Trouble and Master of Sex, both of which earned her Emmy nominations. Whatever the genre or medium, you can always be assured that Caplan will turn in an enthralling performance. One genre we don't see her in too often is horror. While the found footage monster movie, Cloverfield, was one of her first Hollywood mainstream films, Caplan is not an actor whom you would consider synonymous with spooky tales. However, Caplan's role as Carol in last year's Cobweb might carve out a path to more horror in her future.

“We Were the Lucky Ones” has its warning built into the title. The Hulu series based on the book by Georgia Hunter and adapted by Erica Lipez is about how one family survived and separated during the Holocaust, all of it underscored by that title — this is what they went through, the horror they witnessed and endured, the sadness that befell them, and they were lucky.
The series kicks off in Radom, Poland before the War, with the Kurc family: Siblings Halina (Joey King), Addy (Logan Lerman), Genec (Henry Lloyd-Hughes), Jakub (Amit Rahav), and Mila (Hadas Yaron) — and their parents, Sol (Lior Ashkenazi) and Nechuma (Robin Weigert). The Kurcs are close-knit, their home echoing with overlapping voices and laughter at the holidays, and they already feel the pangs of missing Addy, who lives in Paris.

However, in terms of horror sequels, there’s no film as highly anticipated as Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3. The Christmas-themed nightmare will see the devilish Art the Clown against the ill-fated Miles County once again. The third film in the popular indie franchise is currently in the bloody heart of filming for a fall release. Now, Leone has teased that Terrifier fans have seen nothing yet.

After weeks of buildup, Netflix unveiled the trailer for its upcoming music biopic Amar Singh Chamkila, based on the life of the titular Indian folk singer. The movie is directed by the revered Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, and features pop star Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role of Chamkila, a man “who emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the 80s”. Chamkila, whose stage name can be translated to “shiny (like a star)” in several Indian languages, was the top-selling music artist in his home state of Punjab in northern India, when he was gunned down by assailants in 1988.

Limonero Films has picked up world rights to distribute environmental documentary “Wild Coast Warriors,” which launches at Mipdoc.
The film aims to raise awareness of the plight of small coastal communities on South Africa’s Wild Coast, who are standing up to the oil and gas industry. It follows a David vs. Goliath court-case against Shell, which halted oil and gas exploration, winning protection for the community, the ocean and the local culture.
“Wild Coast Warriors” is directed by Nick Chevallier and Leigh Wood, who also edits the film. It is produced by Chevallier for Contemporary Film Productions. The cinematographer is Warren Smart, who was part of the camera crew on Oscar winner “My Octopus Teacher.”
Pippa Ehrlich, director of “My Octopus Teacher,” said “Wild Coast Warriors” was “a critical story about the power of community advocacy, and a warning to big corporations that there is strength in the voices...

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was one of the worst films released last year. A mind-numbingly boring film that was poorly made in every way, it coasted on the idea of doing disturbing things to a beloved property that was now in the public domain. Blood and Honey couldn’t even come close to so-bad-it’s-good territory, as writer-director Rhys Frake-Waterfield took an idea that theoretically could’ve had potential and squandered it to make a terrible slasher film that cost only $100,000. It was filmed over ten days and truly felt like it.

French director Quentin Dupieux may be in the busiest period of his career. After two films in 2022 (“Smoking Causes Coughing” and “Incredible But True“), he released two more last year. First up, the faux-biopic “Daaaaaalí!,” which bowed at the Venice Film Festival and still awaits a stateside theatrical release. And then there’s “Yannick,” another film Dupieux quickly released in French theaters last August before screening at the Locarno Film Festival the next day.

Jerrod Carmichael has a problem. “I didn’t know it was a problem,” he says during his new HBO series, “Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show.” But recent events have made it clear that it is, in fact, a problem. A big one. What is it? “I only like to do exactly what I want to do.”
You may be thinking, “Wait, what’s wrong with that? Don’t we all only like doing what we want?” Sure we do. Except, not really, and not in the way Carmichael means here. He’s saying he doesn’t like doing things for other people. Like, at all. He doesn’t want to drive you to the airport. He doesn’t want to let you crash at his place for a few weeks. He doesn’t want to do the things friends are expected to do simply because it helps someone they care about.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has been the subject of its fair share of discourse, but Ian Ousley has an interesting perspective. The actor who plays Sokka recently explained how he feels about changing the character from animation to live-action. Nickelodeon’s fantasy series about the master of all four elements has been a beloved source of entertainment since its premiere in 2005. Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen), along with brother-sister duo Katara (Mae Whitman) and Sokka (Jack De Sena), travel the world in a coming-of-age story that is as humorous as it is emotionally resonant. Themes such as redemption, love triangles, and grief are prevalent throughout the show.

Despite a near-fatal brush with death in the early new year of 2023, Jeremy Renner is back at it in the acting game, almost as if nothing ever happened. Miraculously healthy, healed, and back to work in early 2024, Renner is back for a third season of his Paramount+ series, “Mayor Of Kingstown,” about a power broker family whose main business is incarceration. Created by Paramount+’s own power broker, Taylor Sheridan, the creator of “Yellowstone” and many of the streaming channels’ top series, after a year break, “Mayor Of Kingstown” returns in June of this year.

Watching “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” I realized that the movie, a standard overly busy and mediocre blockbuster with a pretty awesome wow of a clash-of-the-titans climax, was demonstrating one of the essential principles of Hollywood movie culture today. Namely: All blockbuster movies are now connected!
Kong, living in the Hollow Earth, where most of the film is set, is supposedly the last of his kind, but he discovers a child ape who actually looks like an homage to the cuddly creature in the 1967 Japanese film “Son of Godzilla.” This kid gorilla leads Kong to a tribe of scraggly hostile apes who are living in a slave society presided over by the Skar King, an evil ape with blotchy red hair who’s as tall as Kong and wields a skeletal bone whip that looks like it was fashioned out of the spine of a sea serpent. He also commands,...

There are some things you should not do: like running into oncoming traffic or drinking poison. Yet, sometimes we make choices we know can not be good for ourselves. On one cold Chicago night, Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) made the mistake of beginning a sexual relationship with a confidential informant. Chicago P.D. Season 11 circles back to this storyline in the upcoming episode. Episode 9 "Somos Uno" will be a Torres-centric hour as teased by the episode's promo and if hooking up with Gloria Perez (Yara Martinez) was bad, this time Torres is in even more danger because he has developed feelings.

It's a challenge to name an actor more beloved than Robin Williams. A truly versatile performer, his talent is one that many audiences will never see again in their lifetime. He could make you laugh, cry, or cry from laughing and infinitely more in between, bringing joy to so many through his work. With dramatic performances in films like Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, and The Fisher King, audiences realized there was poignant depth to his larger-than-life persona.

Both Godzilla and Kong are characters that have existed for the better part of a century, with dozens of films under their combined belts. For the most part, these franchises can be broken down into two categories. One is films that attempt to explore deeper issues or themes under the guise of a monster movie, like 1933’s King Kong, 1954’s Godzilla, or last year’s Godzilla Minus One. The other sillier category relies on just watching these gargantuan creatures fight each other for little reason other than that it’s sort of fun to watch giants cause massive destruction and get into large-scale brawls.

The King of the Monsters is standing taller than ever since he became a surprise Oscar-winner earlier this month, but filmdom’s most famous kaiju isn’t about to let his newfound prestige get the better of him. Anyone worried that Godzilla might pull an Adam McKay and make a sudden pivot towards self-importance will be delighted to find that “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” eagerly strips both of its namesakes of whatever seriousness they might have accrued over the years, even if that means stripping them of their souls along with it.
Don’t be confused by the multiplication suggested by the silent “x” in its title: This goofy-ass, clumsily assembled Saturday morning cartoon of a movie might as well be called “Godzilla Minus Everything,” if only because the more accurate “Godzilla Minus Everything Plus Dan Stevens in a Hawaiian Shirt” wouldn’t fit on a marquee.

Vertical has acquired U.S. rights to “Bucky F*cking Dent,” a father-son story set against the 1978 Red Sox vs. Yankees pennant race.
The movie was written, directed by and stars David Duchovny. It also happens to be based on Duchovny’s 2016 best-selling novel of the same name. The cast of “Bucky F*cking Dent” includes Logan Marshall-Green (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”), Stephanie Beatriz (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Jason Beghe (“Chicago P.D.”), Evan Handler (“Californication”) with Daphne Rubin-Vega (“In the Heights”) and Pamela Adlon (“King of Staten Island”). The film is produced by Yale Productions’ Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman, as well as Duchovny.
“Bucky F*cking Dent” had its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. The release date is slated for later this year.

Adam Wingard's "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" isn't so much a feature film as it is a Joycean stream-of-consciousness ramble escaped from the mind of a sugared-up eight-year-old, his tongue stained with the remnants of Blue Raspberry Warheads, slamming action figures together, roaring to himself in destructive ecstasy. Whereas Wingard's previous Godzilla film -- 2021's "Godzilla vs. Kong" -- brilliantly embraced the inherent silliness of the monsters' late-'60s Toho entries, "New Empire" tilts full-bore into the realm of Saturday morning cartoons, presenting a brazenly toyetic and visually wild romp that will crack even the hardest of hearts. "Godzilla x Kong" may make a viewer measurably dumber, but golly, that viewer will be entertained.
"Godzilla x Kong" moves so fast as to make one dizzy, and the visuals are so busy that a large caffeinated beverage may be required to keep up. The film climaxes with multiple monsters,...

The utterly convoluted lengths filmmakers will go to contrive some excuse to make monsters fight has become exasperating. Moreover, the unique paradox at the heart of Legendary’s Monsterverse series continues. Much like “Godzilla Vs. Kong,” also directed by Adam Wingard, the sequel, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” faces many of the same fundamental problems, and these franchise filmmakers haven’t all addressed the issues, nor even seem to see them as such.
