Meghan Markle might not be on great terms with the royal family now, but the Duchess of Sussex certainly managed to make a good first impression. One body language expert calls it “the Markle charm,” and Meghan has always had a way of captivating everyone in a new room. It turns out she uses just four easy moves to make herself more approachable when meeting new people.

Some celebrity couples have no problem showing public displays of affection. But Pda is rare for famous royals like Prince William and Kate Middleton. That’s because the British royal family abides by unspoken rules about being touchy-feely in public. And like generations before them, many royal family members continue to follow the no-pda tradition.

Royals make dozens of public appearances every year. And they usually appear alongside their spouses to showcase the monarchy’s strength and solidarity.
King Charles III often steps out for events with Queen Consort Camilla. And Prince William and Kate Middleton are usually seen together at celebrations, commemorations, and charitable functions.
But the public rarely sees these royal couples hug or kiss. And that’s because they follow unspoken rules about refraining from Pda.

The royal family is known for its strict adherence to protocol, and this extends to their public displays of affection (Pda). The institution has a “no-touching” policy that prohibits couples like Prince William and Kate Middleton from hugging and kissing in public.
While this may feel like a normal practice for the royals, experts have suggested that limiting displays of affection could actually weaken romance in royal relationships.

Kate loves wearing wedge heels. However, the late Queen Elizabeth II wasn’t fond of the shoe style. Royal women were reportedly prohibited from wearing wedge heels in front of the queen.
“The queen isn’t a fan of wedged shoes,” a source tells Vanity Fair. “She really doesn’t like them, and it’s well known among the women in the family.”
Surprisingly, Kate was seen wearing espadrilles during an event with the queen in 2019. They both attended the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show. It’s possible the queen relaxed her rules later.
Meghan Markle also likes wedge heels.

Along with shutting their own car doors, holding hands is one of those activities that royals purportedly should not engage in, but that is more of an unspoken expectation than an actual royal protocol. Pda in general is considered uncouth among the royals, and even though it's clear that there is affection between Prince William and Kate Middleton, you'll rarely see the two cuddling up in public. There are exceptions, of course, such as at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding, but largely William and Kate leave the Pda to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are never shy about showing off their love.

Even as kids, Princess Charlotte and her older brother, Prince George, still have to learn about royal protocol just like the rest of their family. Royal etiquette expert Myka Meier recently told Cosmopolitan that the two young royals started learning about proper etiquette at a very young age! "Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s etiquette education likely started as soon as they could attend events with their family," she said. "It would probably begin with simple training like how to shake hands and curtsy around the age of two." (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Meier added that if George and Charlotte wanted to learn "initial training," then they would most likely be given the lesson by their mom, Kate Middleton. However, since Kate's two oldest kids are still quite young, their royal training is apparently not as strict as their aunt Meghan Markle's training. "Growing up in the Palace would...

She's getting ready! Meghan Markle is gearing up for her first royal tour as Prince Harry's wife. The two are set to visit Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31, but before they go, Meg is reportedly undergoing some intense protocol training. "The Duchess of Sussex will have a team of Royal aids within the palace that are there to assist her in every way to prepare for her formal engagements," Myka Meier of Beaumont Etiquette — who was trained by a former member of Queen Elizabeth's household — explained to Cosmopolitan.com. "As a senior member of the Royal family, she is a working royal with roles and responsibilities to fulfill on behalf of the family. In order to show respect to the people she is meeting, she will be briefed ahead of each event on the Senior people she will be meeting and...

Every once in a while, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle bless royal fans by stepping out in jaw-dropping diamonds, usually borrowed from monarch Queen Elizabeth. But, like most everything with the British royal family, Kate and Meghan's diamond-wearing moments come with one major protocol rule — they can't be worn before 6 p.m. During a recent interview with News.Com.Au, etiquette expert Myka Meier revealed that royal women can't wear diamonds during daytime hours unless it's a "special occasion." So why exactly is that a must-follow royal rule? Apparently, the 92-year-old Queen doesn't want female members of the monarchy to appear too "flashy" in certain circumstances. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) "Other jewels are worn pre-6 p.m. Before 6 p.m., you’ll see metallics, gemstones, pearls, [and] sapphires," Meier explained. "At night, you’ll see the diamonds come out, and that’s in order to not come across as flashy in your appearance.

Cosmopolitan recently uncovered royal etiquette expert Myka Meier's explanation of the style hack women like Kate and Meghan use to ensure they're always looking picture perfect during official outings. "Often they wear bodysuits and clothes that actually increase static so it's much harder for something to fly up," she told The Sun. Someone call the royal cobbler! A new photo of Prince Harry is making headlines today and not because of his regal good looks. In a snapshot of Harry attending his childhood friend Charlie Van Straubenzee's wedding on Saturday, Aug. 4, the 33-year-old prince was spotted with a giant hole in the bottom of his left shoe. Seriously! Though Harry's fashion faux pas was totally minor, it's just something royal fans never expected to see on a literal prince. "If #PrinceHarry has a hole in his shoe, then what's left for us peasants?!" one person wrote on Twitter with another similarly adding, "Feeling slightly better about my life after seeing Prince Harry with a hole in his brogues today!" Nothing can come between Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall's love — not even royal protocol! The adorable couple was photographed showing a lot of Pda at the Festival of British Eventing in Stroud, England on Sunday, Aug. 5 and, though it's technically against royal rules, fans couldn't get enouch of Zara and Mike's sweet moments. During the event, Zara and Mike were caught sharing a few kisses and, at one point, Zara even grabbed her husband's backside! Thankfully, Mike didn't seem to mind the show of affection and wrapped his arm around his wife and held her even tighter. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) It is normally very rare to see a royal engage in Pda, but (like Zara and Mike) some younger members of the monarchy have recently been a bit more relaxed about kissing and touching at royal events. For example, newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle love holding hands and stealing kisses in public!

Meghan Markle has been diving right into her royal duties since marrying Prince Harry nearly a month ago. This week, the newly appointed Duchess of Sussex embarked on her first official appearance without Harry, instead joining Queen Elizabeth II on an overnight train ride to Cheshire, England. No pressure! While visiting North West England, Meghan and the queen made each other giggle as they sat side by side to watch a performance from cute kids - and the way Meghan positioned herself on the chair is just one example of the new etiquette rules she's picked up since becoming a member of the British royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle love to show off their love with some adorable Pda, but there's an exception to those moments. On June 26, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accompanied the Queen to her Young Leaders Reception at Buckingham Palace and, as you can see in the video below, Meghan was seen seemingly reaching for Harry's hand. He avoided her approach by joining his hands together as she kept walking by his side.
The reason why? It's just not appropriate to display Pda in front of the Queen. "It is rare to see royal couples holding hand on official outings," royal etiquette expert Myka Meier told People. "While we are much less likely to see the Duke and Duchess holding hands in public, we often see Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall holding hands - it's all simply a matter of preference for each couple and is also...

Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry became a couple way back in 2016, the duo has never shied away from showing Pda during royal outings. But, now that they're married, Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, have actually refrained from holding hands or hugging, especially while in the presence of Queen Elizabeth. According to People, the newlyweds try to respect the "stoic values" of the Queen and her husband Prince Philip's generation and have chosen to no longer pack on the Pda like they once did during their royal engagement. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) "While Prince Harry and Meghan holding hands is atypical for royal engagements, it is a seemingly welcomed gesture to show unity and celebration of their engagement period. There is no protocol that says they can not show affection on official engagements, and this gesture makes them relatable and lovable to the public," royal etiquette expert Myka Meier (founder...

She's officially royalty! Meghan Markle, now named the Duchess of Sussex, made her first solo public appearance alongside Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, June 14 — and looked stunning, per usual. Prince Harry's new wife and the Queen attended the Mersey Gateway Bridge opening ceremony in Cheshire, the opening of the Storyhouse Theater in Chester, and lunch the Chester Town Hall For the special events, Meghan, 36, donned a gorgeous beige dress with a black belt and ditched her signature messy bun for loose waves. Elizabeth, 92, wore a bright lime green jacket over a floral dress with a matching lime green hat. Both parties were all smiles throughout the day, which isn't much of a surprise since the Queen seems to be bonding with Meghan faster than she did with Kate Middleton. Also, Meghan showed off her princess skills by sitting with the "duchess slant" alongside the Queen. The leg position is also favorited by Kate,...
