The live-action Titans series had tremendous potential, from its source material to the pedigrees of the talent bringing the heroes to television. Titans failed to work from the first episode to the last. As a television series, it needed a bigger budget for better effects, and the caliber of actors needed to be stronger to pull off these larger-than-life personalities.
Most of the storylines were drawn from Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s seminal run from the early 1980s or the early issues from Geoff Johns and Mike McKone’s run in the 2000s. Both required a consistent tonality along with a budget to make the scope of the stories work.
In the fourth and final series, out now on disc from Warner Home Entertainment, the series tackled both Lex Luthor and Brother Blood. Either one could easily have been the Big Bad for these last dozen episodes, but they split the focus and,...

Sometimes, it is tragic when a character dies. Other times, death is a cause for celebration, a villain vanquished at long last. Either way, death closes the book on a character, and dealing with that is a huge deal.
We have to reconcile ourselves to a world without this character. We have to make peace with never seeing them again. Well, never say never because sometimes, characters come back from the dead.
This twist has routes in soap operas, but as annoying as redemption arcs are, it's impressive when a show can surprise us.
If we didn't see a body, we might suspect something, but sometimes we believe someone is dead only to learn they aren't.
It's impressive when a show does this.
Check out our list of the top 13 death fakeouts when a show made you think someone was dead.

This post contains spoilers for the fourth season of "Titans."
At the midpoint of the fourth season, "Titans" has taken the trailer slogan "new beginning" to heart so far. The change of scenery for the titular superhero team has brought in new allies and villains into the fold, from Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver) to Jinx (Lisa Ambavalanar). A different tone also permeates throughout the series, one that aptly mixes a good dose of horror with noticeably fluffier superhero stuffing. But the Titans themselves still have a lot to learn, especially Superboy, aka Conner Kent (Joshua Orpin). The most powerful member of the team has arrived at an existential crossroads this season, and it's evolved him into becoming a very different kind of character that leans into his heritage.

The fourth season of "Titans" is finally upon us, and we think it's off to a very solid start. The titular team is back at it again, facing yet another iconic DC Comics villain in a season chock-full of horror and supernatural elements. A shift in location has the Titans conducting their superhero business in the city of Metropolis, home to Superman, Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver), and everyone in between. The series is not new to introducing big names from the comics, including Bruce Wayne himself, played by "Game of Thrones" alum Ian Glen. However, despite a certain character's connections to the hero, the Man of Steel himself has yet to make an appearance.
Superboy, aka Conner Kent (Joshua Orpin), has been a staple member of the series since his debut in the second season. A product of an experiment by the megalomaniac genius, Superboy is the clone-son of Superman and Lex Luthor.

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Titans."
The fourth season of "Titans" has finally arrived, warts and all. In the first two episodes, we get a taste of what is in store for the titular superhero team this time around. A lighter tone permeates through the show, while its sinister roots still show up from time to time. The change of location to Metropolis has brought a lot of new things for the Titans to worry about, including the introduction of Lex Luthor, played by Titus Welliver. The tenured Superman villain is perhaps the biggest new addition to the series, and rightfully so. Lex is a force to be reckoned with, and the actor plays him at the peak of his intelligence.
Unfortunately, Lex dies in the premiere episode, for whatever reason. For context, Superboy, aka Conner Kent (Joshua Orpin), wants to meet at least one of his biological fathers,...

Titans heads to Metropolis in Season 4, and for executive producer Greg Walker, when it came to that decision, it was simple: “We said, where do we want to go next? We were in an Rv, and we were heading to San Francisco. We had to go someplace. It was Vegas or Metropolis.” Walker and series stars Ryan Potter (Gar Logan/Beast Boy), Brenton Thwaites (Richard “Dick” Grayson/Robin/Nightwing), and Joshua Orpin (Conner Kent/Super Boy) and executive producer Greg Walker sat down with Damian Holbrook in TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s studio at New York Comic Con 2022 to tease what’s ahead — other than that supernatural cult with powers they’ll be facing — with the HBO Max series returning on November 3. Conner will be meeting one of his two dads in Season 4, “and it may not be the one that you think,” Orpin says of what’s...

This Young Justice: Phantoms review contains spoilers.
Young Justice: Phantoms Season 4 Episode 24
It’s not possible for the Young Justice: Phantoms team to be reading what’s published on this little ol’ site and responding to it in almost real time. The lead time on animation is usually massive: what we see on HBO Max was probably written a year or more ago. That said, it certainly feels like the writers were thinking the same thing I was after last week: holy cats there’s a lot left to do.
And this week they started crossing stuff off their list.
General Zod
By my count, we’ve got three episodes left, and three villains that the story is orbiting around. The first is General Zod, who along with a Phantom Zone-brainwashed Conner Kent, spends much of the episode kicking the asses of the original team minus M’gann.

It’s not easy being the son of a legendary superhero, but Jon Kent is stepping into his own spotlight. Although you might not be as familiar with Superman’s son (not to be confused with Superboy), Kent was originally created by Dan Jurgens for the “Convergence: Superman” series. Earlier this month, DC Comics announced that Kent will come out as bisexual in “Superman: Son of Kal-El #5.” In the comic, slated for release on November 9, the young Kryptonian finds his identity and falls for a reporter.

It's been a long wait, but the premiere of Titans Season 3 is in sight.
HBO Max has released a first look teaser for the new season of the popular superhero series, which premieres on Thursday, August 12.
The first three episodes will be available on that date, with new episodes dropping every Thursday after that.
Titans Season 3 is set to wrap on October 21, meaning that it will not be airing multiple episodes every week.
Score, right?
We love HBO Max, but multiple episodes a week takes out a lot of the fun. Having one episode to keep us on our toes for a few months works best in our book!

As we eagerly await more news on “Titans” Season 3, HBO Max just teased us with the first look at Jason Todd’s Red Hood supersuit.
Currently in production, Season 3 of the DC series will mark the first time the individual Red Hood costume will ever be seen in a live-action production, according to HBO Max.
Created by costume designer Laura Jean (“Lj”) Shannon, Jason Todd (Curran Waters) will wear the cool new threads as his Red Hood persona in the upcoming season — after his stint as the new Robin, that is.
Season 1 and 2 of “Titans” will be available to stream on HBO Max starting Nov. 1, having previously streamed on the DC Universe platform before it stopped making original content in September. No premiere date has been set yet for Season 3.

DC Universe’s Titans series is maddeningly uneven. Its second season, out now on disc for those unwilling to buy the service, is perhaps slightly better than its inaugural outing but it’s still a mess.
Let’s start with the fact that everyone behind the camera doesn’t understand Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), so they depict him as bitter and angry, lost and without a clear sense of self. He was never like that in the comics and this is jarring and not terribly well thought through. During the season he is haunted by the vision of Bruce Wayne (Ian Glen), who seems far less brooding than one would expect an aging Batman to be.
The final episode shot for season one is used to open season two as Dick, Donna Troy (Conor Leslie), Hank Hall (Alan Ritchson), Gar Logan (Ryan Potter), Kory Anders (Anna Diop), Jason Todd (Curran Walters...

The live-action superhero drama Titans has been renewed for Season 3 on DC Universe, the subscription streaming service that launched in September. The edgy, mature-themed Titans was the first DC Universe original series and its Season 2 is underway with new episodes available every Friday.
The current season of Titans introduced Esai Morales as the title team’s archenemy, Deathstroke, notorious as the most dangerous assassin in the DC Universe and a fan favorite since his introduction in the pages of The New Teen Titans in 1980. Titans Season 2 Episode 6
With nary a mention of him since his tease at the end of season one, Conner Kent swoops into Titans with a great episode that’s charming, sweet, and exciting for what it sets up for the series. Oh, and Krypto!
Picking up after the stinger scene from last season’s finale, “Conner” has a bare-assed Lex Luthor/Superman clone busting himself, and Krypto the Super-Dog out of Luthor’s Cadmus Labs. What follows is a road-trip of self-discovery as the young naïve boy learns his powers, taps into his anger, and hopefully develop into a good person.
I really commend Joshua Orpin on his performance as Conner. Playing a full-grown adult newborn is a minefield because it tiptoes along the lines of some very well-tread tropes.

Titans Season 2 Episode 5
“Deathstroke” manages to be both an entertaining but incredibly frustrating episode that still moves the main plot forward – even though Conner Kent is still nowhere to be found.
First up, Dick is not being a great leader. As foolish as Jason was to go after Dr. Light, Dick deserves some blame for being secretive with Robin and the rest of Titans 2.0. It is such a Bruce thing to do. Add to that his bone-headed plan to then confront Deathstroke solo (this must be a Robin thing) and present himself as a sacrificial lamb to Slade.
Were it not for the arrival of Kory, Slade would have made quick work of the unarmed Grayson. Their fight succeeded in showing Deathstroke’s capabilities after a few episodes largely teasing his skills.

While the cliffhanger to this week’s episode of Titans, “Deathstroke,” took our breath away and will force us all to spend the next several days wondering whether or not Jason Todd survived the fall, we can at least look forward to something positive coming from the next outing.
Believe it or not, we’ll finally get to meet Conner Kent Aka Superboy in the appropriately titled “Conner.” If you’ll recall, his bare ass was teased in the post-credits scene following the first season finale. But now, we’ll get to see actor Joshua Orpin suiting up as the iconic Kon-El.
In addition to this new image taken from the episode in question, so too can a synopsis be found below:
“Conner Kent and Krypto escape from Cadmus Labs. His search for the truth about his past leads him to Lionel Luthor and genetic scientist Dr. Eve Watson.”

One of the biggest questions of Titans season 2 is when will Brenton Thwaites’ Dick Grayson assume his identity as Nightwing? The persona’s been teased in the opening episodes of the season through Grayson retiring as Robin to allow Jason Todd to take center stage as the character. We were also told in August by our sources that Grayson will officially become Nightwing in season 2, and that information now seems to be confirmed in a behind-the-scenes clip from Minka Kelly where we glimpse his costume.
The clip was shared by Titans Brasil and shows Kelly recording herself and some of the other cast leaving the set due to rain. In the footage, which you can see below, we briefly glimpse Thwaites behind her. Although he’s wearing a jacket, it does look like he’s in a domino mask and a new costume. Given where Titans should be at the moment with the shooting schedule,...

With Titans Season 2 coming to DC Universe in a little over a week, a new trailer has been released to get the fans excited for what is to come.
As you’ll see there’s a lot of tension built up as the story continues with Season 2 and Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke is going to pose a big threat to the heroes. I enjoyed Season 1 and I’m curious to see how this next chapter plays out. The most interesting aspect for it for me is going to be seeing how Bruce Wayne will be utilized in the story. Then there’s Dick Greyson who is looking at becoming Batman!?
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:
In this action-packed, live-action series, Dick Grayson, aka the former Robin (series star Brenton Thwaites), emerges from the shadows to lead a band of new heroes – including Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and others.

Just as the Titans neutralize one Big Bad, another lurks right around the corner in the first full trailer for Season 2 of DC Universe’s flagship series.
The two-minute preview includes, among other things, Hank and Dawn (promoted series regulars Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly) at odds about their future; what appears to be a kidnapping crisis for Kori (Anna Diop); the amusing story behind how Conner Kent (new series regular Joshua Orpin) found his “Superboy” T-shirt; a defiant/bratty Jason Todd (promoted series regular Curran Walters) getting in his predecessor’s face; and Donna Troy (promoted series regular Conor Leslie) dissing a nemesis’ codename.

Fans were horrified when the overly dark teaser trailer arrived last summer, with a wet, angry Robin (Brenton Thwaites) declaring, “Fuck Batman!” This was certainly not the Bob Haney and Nick Cardy version or even the Marv Wolfman and George Pérez version that was a direct ancestor. As a result, the Titans series which helped launch the DC Universe streaming service was approached with a great deal of apprehension.
The bottom line is that it turned out better than one feared although it really had little to do with the once best-selling title that is credited with saving DC Comics from creative failure. The 11 episodes are now collected by Warner Home Entertained as Titans: The Complete First Season, a two-disc Blu-ray offering out now.
For those unwilling to shell out for the channel, this and the other shows coming to disc is a great way to catch up.

Titans season 1 ended with a tease of a new young hero joining the crew in the DC Universe show’s sophomore run. Namely, Superboy, glimpsed escaping from Cadmus with super-dog Krypto in tow. Back in February, Joshua Orpin was cast as the Boy of Steel, but it’s taken until now for us to get our first look at the actor in character.
A set photo – seen below – is circulating online which shows Orpin in costume posing with someone. Fans will instantly note that Conner Kent seems to be wearing a very accurate version of his comic book costume. To be fair, this was pretty much a given seeing as the character’s look is so easy to replicate – just a black tee with a red “S” emblem on it and a pair of jeans – but it’s good to have it confirmed regardless.

Right now, it feels kind of funny talking about Titans‘ big bads because we’ve yet to see Trigon’s arc be resolved. Had season 1 consisted of twelve episodes as originally intended, then his defeat would probably already be in our rear-view mirror. Instead, it was shortened to eleven installments, with the demon coming out on top for the time being.
Of course, Raven will put an end to his machinations before long so that the series can make way for Deathstroke in season 2. But should the show prove successful enough, a major player from DC Comics is being eyed as season 3’s main threat.
Believe it or not, our source says Lex Luthor is next on tap. Even though Jon Cryer is playing a different iteration on Supergirl, it’s important to stress how Titans exists in a different universe. You may think that Cryer’s Luthor being dead already opens the door,...

There have been a number of DC Comics characters to use the name Superboy. For example, the first Superboy was Clark Kent when he was still a child, who had a number of series from the 1940s to the 1980s until his existence was retconned in 1986. Likewise, recent times saw the introduction of a new Superboy in the form of Jonathan Samuel Kent, who is the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. On top of this, it is important to note that there have been a number of Superboys from timelines other than that of the main DC

Esai Morales Will Play Slade Wilson, better known as Deathstroke in Titans Season 2 on DC Universe.
There's been something of a dearth of Deathstroke on our TV screens recently. Despite being one of DC's most enduring anti-heroes, currently the star of one of the best monthly books in DC Comics' schedule (written by the great Christopher Priest), and his status as perhaps the single greatest villain in the history of the Arrow TV series (where he was masterfully portrayed by Manu Bennett), Slade Wilson has been suspiciously absent from live action appearances. Sure, he made a dramatic post credits appearance in Justice League (where he was played by Joe Manganiello) and there is talk of ol' Slade getting a movie of his own, but things have been awfully quiet on all those fronts until recently.

To my delight, the first season of Titans really set the bar for what a mature DC Comics-based series can achieve. Actually, Doom Patrol has since raised it, but I’m confident our favorite group of younger superheroes can outdo themselves in their second go-round.
Of course, in order to do that, the show will need to keep things fresh and continue introducing other characters from the comic book world. Superboy is one of these, having already been teased in a post-credits scene at the tail end of the unforgettable season finale. And seeing as how a stuntman had been hired to stand in for the nude lad, it was only a matter of time before the actor set to carry the torch be formally cast.

DC Universe’s Titans has tapped Aussie actor Joshua Orpin to ostensibly “suit up” as Conner Kent aka Superboy for Season 2 of the live-action series.
First glimpsed, in (anatomically improbable) silhouette, in the Season 1 finale’s bonus scene, Conner Kent is described as an “angsty teenager of steel” searching for purpose and the truth about his past, after apparently being experimented on by the nefarious Cadmus. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans where he finds an unlikely home and surrogate family — as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.

Joshua Orpin will play Conner Kent when Superboy is introduced in Titans Season 2 on DC Universe.
The Titans TV series on the DC Universe streaming service is already loaded with DC superheroes. It's as classic a lineup of the team as you can expect, reminiscent of the comics, the beloved Teen Titans animated series, and arguably the best Titans-related thing to ever hit the screen, Young Justice. Titans season 2 looks set to be a massive treat for fans. The first run of the DC Universe show already featured a bunch of comic book characters, both beloved and obscure, but that number will only increase when the series returns later this year. And one of the new arrivals could just be one of the biggest villains in DC’s rogues gallery: Superman’s nemesis himself, Lex Luthor.
Geeks Worldwide has got hold of a character breakdown for Titans for a new villainous figure codenamed “Dax.” Apart from the similarity in name, the description teases a master manipulator and successful criminal who’s spent time in jail. Sounds a lot like the bald billionaire to us.

To be honest, I accepted it for what it was, though I understand why DC fans lamented the exclusion of Superboy, Cyborg Superman, the Eradicator and Steel.
Apparently, Warner Bros. heard these complaints, therefore they decided to revisit the material more than a decade later. Just last year, The Death of Superman arrived on home video, thus giving us an emotional, yet action-packed, retelling of the best-selling graphic novel.
Soon enough, Reign of the Supermen will expand upon that vision. Not only will it no doubt include the resurrection of Big Blue himself, but it’ll also feature the four aforementioned guys who filled the void during his absence – namely Superboy.

Titans‘ season 1 finale dropped a major bombshell in its post-credits tease as it introduced Superboy into this iteration of the DC universe. While the arrival of the Boy of Steel is getting most of the attention, let’s not overlook the fact that the same scene also introduced another iconic Superman mythos character into the mix: the heroic Kryptonian dog, Krypto.
If you missed the episode, here’s how things play out. The scene in question sees an out-of-focus Conner Kent escaping from Cadmus Labs in Metropolis, making mincemeat of some guards on his way. As part of his escape, he also frees a white dog kept in a cage. As it’s freed, the dog’s eyes glow red, telling us that it’s got laser vision and confirming that this pooch is indeed Titans‘ version of Krypto.

DC Universe has released an official photo of Krypto the Superdog from Titans. The big reveal for Krypto came during the post-credits scene of the Titans season finale alongside Superboy. The dog has a much different look than fans were expecting.
It’ll be interesting to see how these characters end up being utilized and played with in the upcoming second season. While talking to EW, Titans showrunner Greg Walker was asked about the reveal of Superboy in the finale, and what role he'll take in the show. He replied:
"It’s still brewing. What I can say is that we still want to take the same dimensionalized and psychologically grounded approach that we do with the other characters and apply that same pressure to Conner Kent and see what shakes out when you put a character like that through that test. You know, questions of identity, questions of powers,...

Despite the backlash against it prior to its release, Titans turned out to have a pretty well-received first season, all things considered. Comic book fans loved how it brought so many under-appreciated DC heroes to live-action for the first time and the recent season finale then went one further and featured a cameo from another fan favorite, teasing his proper arrival in season 2.
Yes, the finale depicted Superboy and Krypto escaping from Cadmus Labs in Metropolis. As Superman fans know, Conner Kent is the half-human, half-Kryptonian clone of the Man of Steel who’s probably most familiar to viewers of the Young Justice animated series. We’ve heard rumors and reports that Superboy would be involved in Titans, but we hadn’t had it confirmed until the final moments of season 1. So was Conner always going to be a part of the puzzle?
