In the previous episode of Manhunt, Edward Stanton, Lincoln’s Secretary of War and friend was determined to uncover the conspiracy which had his friend killed. The investigation eventually leads him to John Surratt Jr, a confederate spy. Surratt, along with his mother, and John Wilkes Booth had conspired to kill Lincoln. However, Stanton and his men suspect that Surratt and Booth’s action’s had been sponsored by an external actor. As he digs deeper into Surratt’s connections, Stanton finds evidence hidden at Surratt’s Maryland boarding house. Behind a concealed compartment, Stanton and his men discover a cache of telegrams and encrypted messages exchanged between Surratt and Confederate President Jefferson Davis, proving Stanton’s suspicions.
As Stanton races against time to close in on Surratt and unravel the conspiracy, the story introduces the character of Mary Simms, a slave at Dr. Mudd’s lodge. Mary is discouraged...

Exclusive: Paradigm and a pair of literary agents, Alysia Thomas and Kelsey Roberts, have parted ways, sources tell Deadline.
Paradigm declined comment.
Thomas has already made her exit, and we’re told this was entirely amicable. What prompted Roberts’ exit is unclear, but she’s still finishing up her time at the agency.
A veteran studio executive and producer previously based in London, Thomas moved to Los Angeles to join Paradigm as Motion Picture Lit Agent in the fall of 2022. Prior to her time there, she served as VP of Development at Working Title, before that working as Vice President of Creative Affairs at Legendary Pictures in Los Angeles. She began her career at Warner Bros, working her way up from executive assistant to creative executive, and eventually, to producer.
Joining Paradigm as Lit Agent in 2021, Roberts was formerly a manager at Industry Entertainment, having worked prior to that at Lawrence Bender Productions.

Peak TV just got put into perspective. Asked at a Series Mania session about the volume of TV being made, European Commission official Lucia Recalde broke out an estimate that it would take over three centuries to watch everything currently on streaming services.
“We have estimated the amount of time that would take you to watch all the content that is available today on streaming platforms,” she said. “350 years, and I’m not counting user-generated content, I’m not counting video games – I’m not counting all forms of entertainment. That’s the level of competition that all the media companies are facing today in the cellphone attention economy.”
Recalde is Head of Unit within the European Commission’s division for digital, Dg Connect. She produced the estimate based on data from the Audiovisual Observatory, which is in turn part of the Council of Europe. The Observatory put together the...

I’ve always felt that the 1979 horror film Tourist Trap (watch it Here) deserves a lot more respect and attention than it gets – and that star Chuck Connors (best known for The Rifleman) deserved the “genre icon” career he was aiming for when he signed on for the movie. Barbara Crampton is someone who did achieve a genre icon career, and she clearly believes there was something great going on with Tourist Trap, because our friends at Bloody Disgusting have learned that she is producing a remake of the film!
Crampton is the Vice President of Production & Development at Alliance Media Partners, and the company has just acquired the rights to make a new version of Tourist Trap. Crampton will be producing the film alongside Bob Portal, who is Amp’s Managing Director & Head of Production.
Produced by Full Moon founder Charles Band, the original Tourist Trap stars Connors as Mr.

A Los Angeles judge has thrown out portions of Leah Remini’s lawsuit against Scientology, finding that some of the church’s attacks on her are protected under the First Amendment.
But in a mixed ruling, the judge also found that the church cannot claim free-speech protection for allegedly stalking, harassing and surveilling Remini, or for harassing producers and staff who worked on her anti-Scientology podcast.
Since leaving Scientology in 2013, the “King of Queens” actor has become its most prominent critic, writing a memoir and hosting two seasons of the A&e docuseries, “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.”
Last August, she filed a 68-page lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging she had been subject to a decade of online attacks, stalking and intimidation designed to punish her for her criticism of the church.

Match #1: Noam Dar & Oro Mensah def. Von Wagner & Mr. Stone The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Von Wagner and Mr. Stone have never been on the same page more than they have been right now, but it still wasn’t enough to trip up The Meta-Four. The chaos started early as all four Superstars brawled before the match even began, but thankfully an official broke it up long enough for the bout to begin. The action was fast and furious with Wagner showing off his incredible power, but the numbers game of The Meta-Four factored in as Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend distracted the official long enough for Mensah to hit a cheap shot and allow Dar to sneak in the winning pinfall.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, it's always refreshing to hear about an actress having a non-traumatizing on-set experience filming a sensitive scene -- even if that experience comes via the most unlikely of projects. Mia Farrow's time on "Rosemary's Baby" certainly wasn't all sunshine and roses, but in a 2014 Vice interview, the actress and activist described an oddly cordial and borderline silly experience she had shooting one of the film's most horrifying scenes.
In the retrospective, Farrow went into detail about shooting the movie's devilish conception scene, a harrowing horror sequence in which Rosemary is drugged and raped by a demonic presence. Even if we were to set aside the fact that the movie's director, Roman Polanski, remains a fugitive from the law for his own assault and drugging charges (which we shouldn't!), the inciting incident in "Rosemary's Baby" simply looks like it would be a terrifying ordeal to film.

Sports Illustrated‘s stunning mass layoffs Friday, which cast doubt on the future of the 70-year-old media stalwart, have prompted waves of emotional reaction across social media.
The Arena Group told the entire staff their jobs were being eliminated after Authentic Brands Group, which licenses the Si name, suspended that license to publish due to a missed payment of about $3.75 million.
It isn’t yet clear what the ultimate fate of Si will be, but it has been thrown into uncertainty. Sports Illustrated Union and The NewsGuild of New York issued a statement vowing to fight for the workers. “We have fought together as a union to maintain the standard of this storied publication that we love, and to make sure our workers are treated fairly for the value they bring to this company. It is a fight we will continue,” Mitch Goldich, NFL editor and unit chair at The NewsGuild of New York said.

Media-wise, the 2024 presidential election crosses the official starting line with debate season, and this cycle the contenders on the Republican side, including a multiple-indicted former Potus, are looking to beat Democrat Joe Biden and take over the White House. But first they have to take on one another.
For the candidates, debates are a way to score points against a rival, stand out from the field or define a campaign that’s heretofore been rudderless.

As 2022 proved to us over and over again, horror is just about the most reliable thing at the box office right now -- maybe even more than superhero movies in some ways. It's hard to have a flop as big as "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" when budgets are generally much, much lower. But they can't all be huge winners like "Smile" or "M3GAN." To that end, Disney's 20th Century Studios released "The Boogeyman" in theaters this past weekend, and the buzzy Stephen King adaptation had a middling debut amidst a sea of heavy competition. Even so, it would be hard to call this moderate disappointment a loss in any way.
Speaking of superheroes, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" made a staggering $120.5 million in its debut, taking the lion's share of attention from moviegoers over the weekend. With "The Little Mermaid" also in its second weekend, "The Boogeyman" had to settle...

Showtime’s recently pulled “Vice” episode about Ron DeSantis contained headline-grabbing footage of the Florida governor’s response to whether he witnessed the torture of Guantanamo Bay prisoners, TheWrap can now confirm.
Titled, “The Gitmo Candidate and Chipping Away,” the episode was supposed to air on May 28. A recent episode of Vice newsmagazine series, which contains a report about Florida governor and GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, was removed from the schedule ahead of its previously announced premiere on Showtime.
The fourth episode in Vice‘s fourth season, titled “The Gitmo Candidate & Chipping Away,” was due to air May 28 but was pulled and replaced with repeat programming, we’ve learned. No reason was given.
“We don’t comment on scheduling decisions,” a Showtime spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline.
The episode’s description reportedly teased potentially explosive material about DeSantis, according to The Hollywood Reporter, reading in part, “Seb Walker investigates allegations from former Guantanamo Bay detainees that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis witnessed acts condemned by the United Nations as torture during his past service at the controversial detention camp as a Navy Jag officer.” The rest of the episode focuses on a separate report on...

Harrison Ford added another iconic movie to his long list of films with the 1982 sci-fi feature Blade Runner. And although the film, and his performance, garnered significant praise, there was one aspect of the feature that Ford couldn’t stand.
Why Harrison Ford once called doing ‘Blade Runner’ a nightmare Harrison Ford | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Ford wasn’t the first choice to star in Blade Runner. When filmmaker Ridley Scott signed onto the project, he tapped Dustin Hoffman as the lead. But Hoffman didn’t work out because he wanted the Blade Runner script rewritten. Scott would then try to court Ford for the project. And although Scott was pretty much sold on the Star Wars star, others backing the film weren’t.
“I just put two and two together and flew to London and met with Harrison inside this posh piano bar,” Scott once said on LA Mag. “I...

Updated: A federal prosecutor is investigating the alleged hack of internal Fox News video footage of former host Tucker Carlson, as clips have surfaced on Vice and watchdog group Media Matters for America.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that the probe is linked to a recent FBI search of the home of media consultant Tim Burke, who formerly worked for Deadspin and The Daily Beast, and is married to Tampa Bay City Councilwoman Lynn Hurtak.
The Times cited a letter that Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Trezevant sent to the network, in which he wrote that Fox News was one of the “potential victim-witnesses” of the hacking. Deadline also obtained the letter, dated on Thursday, in which Trezevant wrote that the investigation is of allegations of unauthorized computer access, interception of wire, oral or electronic communication, conspiracy and other federal statutes.
As of yet, no one has been accused of...

“When was the last truly f*cking nasty, nasty, bad pop girl?” This is the question posed in the teaser trailer to HBO’s The Idol, which promises the kind of lurid, adrenaline-pumping pop-culture exposé you’d see if Paul Verhoeven was ever allowed to make a film like Showgirls again. Said trailer also features copious quantities of cocaine, champagne and seriously dirty dancing, suggesting a warts-and-all drama about a super-ambitious Madonna/Lady Gaga type who has recently hit the big time in the dog-eat-dog world of showbiz.
That, in itself, would be a risky role for any young actress, especially since The Idol has already been in the news for its turbulent production, overseen by director Sam Levinson, whose envelope-pushing series Euphoria was labelled “pointlessly gratuitous” by the hardly conservative Esquire magazine. Hats off, then, to Lily-Rose Depp — daughter of Johnny and French pop singer Vanessa Paradis, and goddaughter...
