Nineties rock band Tool continues to rock in 2024.
The tour began last September, and after performing their last North American concert in February, they will be taking a break from the stage until May, when they head over to Germany to commence the European leg.
Joining them on the North American shows will be Elder, a progressive psychedelic rock band.
Frontman Maynard James Keenan made headlines last May for cross-dressing at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. His decision to dress in drag created speculation that he did so to go against Gov. Ron Desantis‘ (R-Florida) anti-drag bill.
Keenan denied those rumors, however, and told The Messenger that he had “been cross-dressing since long before these clickbait-junkie dupes were out of diapers.”
“It’s pretty crazy the technology and the prosthetics nowadays, how they’ve come along, and I just was considering bringing the look back,” he said.

The BAFTA film awards longlists, announced on Jan 5. ahead of the final nominations on Jan. 18, featured many predictable names. “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” dominated, while the likes of “Poor Things,” “Maestro,” “Saltburn,” “The Zone of Interest” and “All of Us Strangers” all fared well. But away from the best film and acting categories, some interesting features not in the spotlight find themselves vying for voters’ attention.
Landing two longlist spots is “The Deepest Breath,” Laura McGann’s critically-lauded documentary exploring the mesmerizing world of freediving, the extreme sport in which thrill-seekers plunge to the bottom of oceans, often for several minutes, with only the air in their bodies to rely on, pushing themselves to the very edges of physical capability.
As it sounds, the sport doesn’t come without some large degree of danger, and “The Deepest Breath” tells the story of two individuals — Italian champion...

Maynard James Keenan has earned his black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu after decades of training in the martial art.
The Tool frontman’s fellow black belt Ty Gay took to Instagram to share the news, along with a photo alongside a freshly promoted Maynard.
“Congratulations to my friend, training partner, and sometimes nemesis @iamthebriefcase on the monumental task of receiving his Black Belt today,” wrote Gay in the post. “Was an amazing event, with a bunch of truly amazing people. Today, Jiu-Jitsu became just a little bit better.”
Some of Keenan’s other training partners and jiu-jitsu colleagues also commented on the post to congratulate Keenan on the monumental achievement.
Wrote Cat Zingano in a comment on Gay’s post: “Well deserved! I’ve watched how hard you worked on this and committed yourself to the art. Wish I could be there to celebrate with you today. When is the...

For a show that's known for its highbrow humor, "Frasier" certainly made liberal use of farce. Episodes full of ridiculous hijinks can be found throughout the sitcom's 11 season run, and are often remembered fondly as some of the best installments in the show's history.
The dead seal episode, which was inspired by real events, stands out as one example. In it, the titular doctor (Kelsey Grammer) and his brother, Niles (David Hyde Pierce), attempt to hold a sophisticated dinner party while simultaneously dealing with a stubborn seal carcass that repeatedly washes up by the decking of their beach house. It's silly but somehow doesn't feel out of place within the overall "Frasier" canon.
But the finest farce in "Frasier" history is arguably the season five episode "The Ski Lodge," in which Dr. Crane, Niles, their father Martin (John Mahoney), his carer Daphne (Jane Leeves), and her friend Annie (Cynthia Lamontagne...

For Creed III co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors, the on-screen rivalry between their characters has a way of translating off-screen, too — in a good way.
“His drive to be the best, I have that drive to be the best,” Majors told The Hollywood Reporter about his and Jordan’s work ethic. “And contrary to popular belief, those things can run parallel. That’s how you get a movie like Creed III.”
On Monday evening, the cast and crew of Creed III gathered at the Tcl Chinese Theater to celebrate the film’s premiere, which hits theaters on Friday.
From starring in the previous Creed films to now directing the third installment, Jordan’s journey with the franchise is a personal one. “This is a character I’ve played three times over the last nine years of my life — very transformative years, the last nine years of my career and personal life,...

Warning: This Series 5 Review Is Spoiler-free But Contains A major Series 4 spoiler.
With its ‘decomposing murder victims dug up decades later’ premise, Unforgotten has never been a cosy crime drama. Alongside some extremely grim-looking corpses, past series have excavated painful topics, from racism to childhood sexual abuse, alcoholism, psychopathy and dementia.
Series 5, a story about addiction and violence that opens with the discovery of a human leg theorised to have been chewed off by rats, is no different. What is different this time around is that a crucial ingredient is missing: relief from the bleakness.
In the past, the grimness of Unforgotten’s cases was balanced out by the reassuring and easy camaraderie of the show’s two leads, played by Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar.
From Series 1 – 4, longstanding colleagues and pals Dci Cassie Stuart and Di Sunny Khan investigated cold cases with a warm rapport that involved always agreeing...

British television is brutal. The job security of actors, even in leading roles, is perilous. From the urtext, Spooks, where everyone from Keeley Hawes to Matthew Macfadyen cut their teeth, through to ITV’s returning Monday night drama, Unforgotten, writers have always been willing to throw their characters under the bus (sometimes literally). The challenge, then, is reacclimating audiences, once the dust settles, to a very different version of the same old show.
Back for its fifth season, Unforgotten is still reeling from the death of Nicola Walker’s Cassie Stuart. Di Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) is grieving, while incoming Dci Jessie James (Sinéad Keenan) is met by a rather cold shoulder. She doesn’t help herself: at home, her family life is falling apart, and the new gig couldn’t come at a worse time. Both she and Sunny are thinking of chucking it all in: Sunny is interrupted...

The threat of imminent death gives a trite and morbid focus to “The Deepest Breath,” an otherwise moving documentary tribute to the record-setting Italian freediver Alessia Zecchini and her close friend, revered Irish safety diver Stephen Keenan. The best scenes, directed by Laura McGann, present freediving as a haunting and impressionistic collage of hand-held diving footage.
Zecchini and Keenan’s experiences tend to be defined by the high risks that they took whenever they plunged underwater to depths of 100+ meters. Zecchini isn’t even featured in on-camera interviews until it’s clear that she survived while Keenan did not, a narrative contrivance that says more about the makers of “The Deepest Breath” than it does their subjects.

Marlon Wayans’ 2004 comedy “White Chicks” is just the type of movie that in today’s environment would get him canceled. Yes, he knows it, and no, he doesn’t care. “If a joke is gonna get me canceled, thank you for doing me that favor,” he said in a recent BuzzFeed interview.
“White Chicks,” which he wrote and produced with his brothers Keenan and Shawn, the latter of whom also starred with him in the film as two FBI agents who go undercover as white women (in white face) to solve a kidnapping plot. Although it was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards (the Razzies) and was a critical bomb, audiences loved it and it has gone on to become something of a cult classic.
In today’s politically correct climate, however, it is unlikely it could have/would have been made and if it was made, there’s a...

Netflix and toymaker Mattel have signed a long-term deal to bring more Barbie programming to the streamer.
The first project under the multi-year content partnership is an interactive special called Barbie: Epic Road Trip, which debuts Oct. 25. The deal will have Mattel Television produce series and specials based on the iconic doll line exclusively for Netflix, in addition to non-exclusive titles that will run on a variety of outlets worldwide.
Epic Road Trip will follow Barbie “Malibu” Roberts, Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts, Ken and Skipper as they take a cross-country road trip to find homes for shelter animals — but a potentially life-altering opportunity also awaits them in New York. Viewers will be able to shape the story via interactive elements, with more than 100 decisions and 500 possible story combinations.

“Deepa & Anoop” — a new colorful, animated preschool series from Mattel, Inc. — will premiere on Netflix on Aug. 15, TheWrap can exclusively reveal. The show’s accompanying trailer, which TheWrap has the first look at, depicts the adorable adventures of 7-year-old Deepa and her best friend Anoop, a color-changing baby elephant.
The music-driven series — which includes a Bollywood number in each episode — marks Mattel’s first foray into animated shows based on original IP.
Here’s a logline for the series: “The dynamic duo, self-appointed ‘concierges of fun,’ makes everything bigger, grander and more wonderful for guests at Mango Manor, the bed and breakfast run by Deepa’s multigenerational family.”
Promising kids episodes chock-full of “music, merriment and mischief,” the trailer depicts the inevitable mess that results when Deepa attempts to make the “gooiest concoction the world has ever seen.”
