A new horror podcast is on its way from iHeartPodcasts, Aaron Mahnke’s production banner Grim & Mild and creator/writer Carlos Foglia. The scripted audio thriller Consumed, inspired by Mahnke’s novel of the same name, will consist of 12 episodes with the first two set to premiere on January 31.
The series follows struggling journalist Sarah Simmons who finds herself stranded in a small, idyllic town for a weekend after her unexpected vacation turns into a nightmare. Steeped in history and filled with legends and lore about the woods near the centuries old cemetery, the residents of Danville, New Hampshire soon learn that the past is not always meant to be forgotten. Their tranquil lives will be forever changed, while the hope of a future without terror rests on the shoulders of a stranger who may hold the keys to the past.
Rachel Rosenbloom stars as Sarah Simmons, an aspiring but out-of-work journalist compelled to investigate a string of mysterious deaths in Danville. Arturo Castro portrays Gordon Morales, a fish-out-of-water intellectual librarian who teams up with Sarah to re-examine the dark history of this small town.
Ruth Connell portrays Sheriff Max Allen, an overqualified police officer who has found herself the head cop in this normally sleepy town that has just seen its first murder in decades. Genevieve Padalecki portrays Rema Brooder, the matriarch of one of the town’s founding families who will do the unthinkable to keep her family safe.
Misha Collins reprising his role as Professor Jeremy Bradshaw, a professor of folklore straddling the line between skeptic and believer, from the podcast Bridgewater.
Check out the trailer below.

Whether you are heading out on a road trip, flying to your destinations, or just taking some time off, the holiday lull is a great opportunity to nerd out with podcasts.
And for spooky nerds — those who prefer to tune in to topics of the strange and unusual, and get weird with lore and scary stories — there is an abundance of paranormal-themed shows out there. The entire Aaron Mahnke universe, including the hit Lore, routinely delivers. Other well-known shows that consistently chart strong, such as Jim Harold’s The Paranormal Podcast, The Last Podcast on the Left, Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know, Radio Rental, and Monsters Among Us, are all worth listening to.
But might we suggest a few more that should be on your radar? Below is a list of some of our favorite paranormal podcasts to listen to this winter. These are shows we love...

TV creators are constantly searching for inspiration for their next projects, and in the past, books, comics and movies provided the source material for many series. In the past few years, podcasts have become a fertile source of ideas for documentary series and dramatic shows as well as comedies and talkshows. The episodic nature of podcasts lends itself perfectly to TV, where six to 10 episodes lets the viewer really dive into complicated stories like “Dirty John” or “The Shrink Next Door.”
For faithful podcast listeners, it’s fun to see which actors were cast to bring the real people to life and which elements of the story are emphasized. If you started out by watching the TV series, you’ll get a deeper understanding of the story by going back to the podcast to listen to all the supporting details. With “The Thing About Pam,” “The Dropout” and “WeCrashed” all coming to TV in March,...

DC Comics' Black Label continues to put out excellent material for mature audiences, and we have two of those titles in today's Comics Corner. In Joker: Killer Smile #2, Dr. Ben Arnell learns that he should have left his work... at work. Secondly, in Wonder Woman: Dead Earth #1, the mythos of the Amazons and sci-fi collide. Also in today's Comics Corner: Angel #8, The Low, Low Woods #1 from DC and Joe Hill's comic outfit Hill House Comics, and Wellington #1.
Joker: Killer Smile #2: "(W) Jeff Lemire (A/CA) Andrea Sorrentino
DC Black Label - Prestige Plus Format - Approx. 8.5" x 10.875"
Ben Arnell promised his wife and child one thing: even though he spends his days attempting to reach the bottom of The Joker's insanity, he would never bring that madness home. No matter how dark the work gets, he would never allow The Joker's craziness to tear their family apart.

It’s the end of the line for two more shows at Amazon; horror anthology series Lore and Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph-fronted comedy Forever have both been cancelled.
Neither is a huge surprise given that both shows aired back at the end 2018, but both are now officially dead, with the news emerging at TCA, where Amazon was promoting titles such as Modern Love and Carnival Row.
Lore ran for two seasons; the Valhalla Entertainment and Propagate Content series is based on Aaron Mahnke’s popular 2015-launched podcast. Falling under Amazon Originals’ unscripted division, Lore included a mix of reenactment animation, narration, and historical documents and footage to shine a light on the true story of the modern vampire legend and more.
It premiered on October 13 2017 with its second season premiering on October 19 2018.
Forever, meanwhile, ran for one season, premiering in September 2018. The show, from SNL alums Armisen and Rudolph.

Lore Season 2 arrives on October 19. One of its stars, Emmett Scanlan, shares what it’s like to portray a serial killer.
The only thing less expected than a TV show adapted from a podcast is a second season of a TV show adapted from a podcast.
And yet, here is Lore Season 2, Amazon Prime's second go-around of the adaptation of Aaron Mahnke's horror podcast.
Like the podcast it was inspired by, Lore takes true creepy stories from history, including the develoment of lobotomies and the tragically grim story of vampirism in early America. In the show's first season, Mahnke provide his trademark narration as actors re-enacted the events therein.
For Lore Season 2, however, producers Mahnke, Gale Anne Hurd, Howard T. Owens, and Sean Crouch (who will also serve as new showrunner) are going for something a little different. After listening to fan feedback, Lore has decided to resemble Lore,...

Spoiler Alert: This story includes details about the ninth season of The Walking Dead and the second season of Lore.
Exclusive: “Change for the sake of change is not helpful,” cautions The Walking Dead and Lore executive producer Gale Anne Hurd. “I think how a show handles that change and can reinvent itself while still remaining true to what it was that fans embraced from the very beginning is the litmus test of a show’s continued longevity,” she adds, with both the returning AMC blockbuster and the Amazon Prime Video true horror series having had more than their fair share of shifts for the new seasons.
Along with a new showrunner in Angela Kang, Twd will see big changes with the departure of original cast member Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan in its October 7 premiering ninth season.

I'm a big fan of Aaron Mahnke's Lore podcast and I thought the first season of the series adaptation turned out pretty good. If you haven't seen it yet, you should give it a shot. if you have seen it then I've got something you'll want to see!
Amazon Studios released the first trailer for Lore Season 2 and it gives us a little tease of the new stories that the creepy anthology series will tell. When talking about the series, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd said that "It is scarier, it is really scarier." She went on to say that "The scope is much larger but the stories are much more intimate."
Lore Season 2 consists of six new episodes and it will premiere on October 19th, 2019 on Amazon Prime. Check out the trailer below! If you're familiar with the podcast, I'm sure you'll notice the stories that they are teasing in this trailer.

The made-for-tv movie was a programming staple for the broadcast networks in the 1970s and 1980s. While it fell out of favor in the 1990s and was even dropped as an Emmy Awards category for three years beginning in 2011, it has been on an upswing as of late. This year, 34 telefilms are in contention for the five nominations that will be revealed on July 12.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 25 to cast their ballots for their favorite TV movies. In the past, voters were limited in the number of telefilms that they could put forth. Last year, that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. And, as opposed to the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

Lore arrived last fall on Amazon Prime as a quirky curiosity of an anthology series that – based on Aaron Mahnke’s popular podcast – delves into the concept of folklore-based horror with a documentary approach. For those of you who are fans of the Lore podcast and the Lore TV series, you'll be happy to hear that Amazon has renewed the series for Season 2. I enjoyed the first season of the series and I'm excited to see what stories will be explored in Season 2:

Lore creator Aaron Mahnke wouldn’t necessarily label himself the voice of Halloween (or the month of October), when many fans of all things horror seek out new and classic thrills. But in the third year of the podcast, featuring non-fiction stories about the dark side of human nature about everything from haunted houses to witch hunters narrated by Mahnke, it’s become something of a phenomenon.
“It does feel like people are treating this like a piece of pop culture,” he tells Et of people having listening parties and enjoying it around campfires during October, which he says is the biggest month for downloads of the podcast. (In total, the podcast has accumulated over 96 million listens.) “It’s a pretty surreal feeling.”

Conrad Riggs, the exec who oversaw the growth of Amazon’s unscripted programming, has left the company. He’s the latest high-level exec to depart Amazon Studios in recent days as the behemoth looks to reorganize its streaming service.
Riggs’ departure comes a day after Joe Lewis, who was head of half hour and drama series development, left the company. Earlier this month, head of international productions Morgan Wandell exited to join Apple in a new gig. Following Lewis’ departure, Sharon Tal Yguado, who joined Amazon in January as head of event series, was given oversight over all of Amazon’s scripted programming.
The reshuffle comes as Amazon Studios undergoes a massive overhaul following the departure of head Roy Price, who was the architect of Amazon Prime’s programming strategy. Price was put on indefinite leave, and then left the company, earlier this month following allegations that he sexually harassed a producer in 2015. Since then,...

In the past few months, one of my favorite things to do has become listening to the podcast Lore, created and produced by Aaron Mahnke. I’ve always been fascinated in the supernatural and I’ve always enjoyed learning about legends and folklore from around the world.
The Lore podcast is 100% focused on these things and I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to each and every episode that has been released. They just suck me right in! Some of them are creepy as hell and I always learning something new that I hadn’t known before. Even stories that I’m already familiar with, the Podcast has managed to include several bits of info that pleasantly surprised me.

Long and lean Irish actor Richie Stephens guest-stars on the original horror series Lore for Amazon. The third episode sees him cast as a villainous cousin named Jack Dunne who spreads superstitious malfeasance. Titled “Black Stockings”, the episode is a detailed look at the 19th-century Irish belief in Changelings, a fairy left after a human is taken by fairies. The story is entwined with a modern-day murder case of a man who killed his wife while running in the park using the Irish “Changeling” defense. “Lore” is a very successful podcast, but its televised adaptation does very little to earn the new medium. Yes, the six-part series pulls out every trick in the TV playbook in an attempt to make these factual explanations of urban myths visually stimulating: There are creepy animated sequences, choice bits of archival footage, and a number of live-action scenes performed by familiar character actors.
And yet its Aaron Mahnke’s blunt narration and gag-inducing sound effects that make up the best bits of the first three episodes, both of which stem from the series’ origins — and more effective incarnation, being audio storytelling.

True crime and supernatural enthusiasts alike can get on board with Amazon’s latest series, “Lore,” premiering this Friday, October 13. The six-episode series, based on Aaron Mahnke’s brilliantly chilling podcast of the same name, will bring the most unsettling folklore to life.
In a recently released video teaser, Aaron Mahnke narrates the story of a man named Thomas Bradford, an engineer and psychic who was so devoted to his studies around the afterlife that he killed himself. However, he did so with a specific purpose that could only be achieved once he had died.
In the video below, it’s easy to see how “Lore” transitioned from podcast to TV show. From haunted dolls to possessed daughters, “Lore” tells the terrifying tales of the past and present. The most unnerving part about it all? Every story is true. In each episode, Mahnke’s calm demeanor introduces a common truth...

Lore, Amazon Video's first horror series, has been given an appropriate release date of Friday, October 13, and scream aficionados might want to circle their calendars. Amazon's promotional tie-in for the series will be titled "Lore: A Haunting Experience," and according to The Verge, it will run during October and November in Los Angeles.
