Pune, March 13 (Ians) Top seeds Rutuja Bhosale of India and Emily Webley Smith of Great Britain won the doubles title of the $25,000 Itf Wtt Cup tennis championships here on Saturday.
In the doubles final, Rutuja and Emily trounced second seeds Riya Bhatia of India and Miriam Bianca Bulgaru of Romania 6-2, 7-5.
Rutuja and Emily won 50 Wta points and $1,437 while the runner-up had to be content with 30 Wta points and $719 (Rs. 52000). The pair had earlier won an event in Jodhpur in February last year just before the lockdown was imposed. Rutuja will move into the top 200 in the doubles.

In the first semi-final match, third seed Laura defeated sixth seed Emili Webly-Smith of Great Britan 6-1, 6-1 in a one sided match that lasted just over an hour while Ukrainian Marianna Zakarlyuk came back from the first set loss to upset second seed Miriam Bianca Bulgaru of Romania (5)6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in a thrilling high quality match lasting three hours and 13 minutes.
The singles winner will receive $3,935 and 50 Wta points while the runner-up will get $2,107 and 30 points.

Seventh seeded Zeel Desai continued to impress as she came back from the loss of first set to end the challenge of Fed Cup player Sowjanya Bavisetti 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 in a 2 hour 17 minutes battle.
Vaidehi Chaudhari justified the organisers faith in awarding her a wild card stopping giant killer Soha Sadiq 6-4, 6-2 and enter her first quarterfinals at this level.

There will be seven Indians in the second round of the singles event. In the first round matches played on Wednesday, Bhosale playing her first match in the city after her marriage, outplayed Arthi Muniyan 6-1, 6-1 in the opening round.
"I have not played with Arthi Muniyan before; she is a good opponent. However, the hard court was to my advantage. Arthi tried to compensate by playing aggressively. The game was quick and as the match went on, I was able to take some easy break points," Rutuja said.
