Michelle Slavich, VP US Publicity, Events & Publishing, is leaving Netflix after over three and a half years. Her role will be replaced. Additionally, there are a handful of layoffs today as part of a restructuring of the streamer’s PR operations, I hear.
During her time at Netflix, Slavich managed the teams behind series and film PR campaigns, including events, influencer outreach and Netflix’s photo/Av studio. She also helped originate the streamer’s global fan event Tudum, and oversaw Netflix’s publishing efforts, including Tudum.com.
“Since joining Netflix, Michelle has brought fresh thinking and creativity to our publicity and events work,” said Rachel Whetstone, Netflix’s Chief Communications Officer, with whom Slavich had previously worked at YouTube. “I will miss her willingness to take bold bets and her strong work ethic, and wish her all the best for the future.”

As part of its consolidation of its marketing and public relations teams, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group has eliminated 15 positions but also promoted 15 people, an individual with knowledge of the matter tells TheWrap.
The cuts aren’t a downsizing within the film group, as the company intends to hire people to fill the 15 jobs vacated by the promotions. The cuts are also unrelated to the recent At&T/Time Warner merger, according to the individual.
The changes were announced by Blair Rich, president of worldwide theatrical and home entertainment marketing, in a memo to employees Wednesday night.

We hear this isn’t as dramatic as it sounds, but Warner Bros. in a move toward globalizing its marketing and PR position has cut 15 from their staff. At the same time, they’ve promoted 15 executives with plans to back fill those positions from which they’ve promoted.
The reorganization was managed by Blair Rich, president of worldwide theatrical and home entertainment marketing. Michelle Slavich, who was tapped from YouTube five months ago, will lead global PR and strategy under Rich in a maneuver that combines domestic and foreign divisions on the Burbank, CA lot.

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group has cut roughly 15 jobs in New York and Los Angeles, several insiders familiar with the company told Variety.
The reduction comes with a consolidation of the marketing and public relations teams under Blair Rich, president of worldwide theatrical and home entertainment marketing. Cuts included Executive VP of international publicity Lance Volland and 20-plus year veteran Ernie Johnston in promotions and field publicity, two of the individuals said, as well as some at the assistant level.
