A fourth indictment against Donald Trump officially came on Monday, and yet, many Republicans are still standing by him. But “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough isn’t too worried about that anymore. According to the MSNBC host, they can “lie all they want” for the former president, “but it doesn’t change a damn thing” about his situation.
On Tuesday morning, “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski first marveled that Republicans were even still defending Trump and making “ridiculous parallels.” But Scarborough wasn’t surprised at all, saying it stems from the fact that “they’re still playing the game of politics.”
“They somehow missed the memo months ago that this has turned from a political facade, a political charade, into a deadly serious legal issue, regardless of where the indictments are,” Scarborough said.
He added that “they can lie all they want” and “try to puff up smoke” by talking about Hunter Biden instead,...

Though “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough thinks Donald Trump is “living on another planet” if he doesn’t take a plea deal amid his three – and likely soon to be four – indictments, former U.S. attorney Chuck Rosenberg disagrees.
According to the MSNBC panelist, “it’s fine” no matter what, at least for the prosecutor, because they’ll “get paid either way.”
Rosenberg’s comments came on Monday morning’s episode of the show, as he broke down what lies ahead for Trump and his criminal proceedings. Scarborough argued early on that Trump should take a plea deal because “he can’t Bs his way out of” these charges, but Rosenberg rebutted that, for the people prosecuting him, it doesn’t much matter.
“It’s fine if he pleads guilty, but from the perspective of a prosecutor, it’s also fine if he doesn’t.” Rosenberg said. “You know, I...

Donald Trump was hit with new obstruction charges by federal prosecutors in Florida for allegedly directing two Mar-a-Lago employees to destroy evidence – a “superseding” indictment that guests of “Morning Joe” on Friday said read like “a mafia case.”
One of the employees named was Trump’s valet, Walt Nauda, who had previously been charged with mishandling documents and obstruction. Thursday’s superseding indictment added a new defendant, Carlos De Olivera, a property manager for Trump’s Florida estate.
“It’s sort of sad in a way,” former U.S. attorney Chuck Rosenberg told “Morning Joe” host Willie Geist. “When I was a federal prosecutor, there were always lower-level individuals – I didn’t get any joy out of prosecuting them. My goal was always to enlist their cooperation, to have them tell the truth. Each of them come to a fork in the road where they can either tell the truth or they can lie.

Update, with video: NBC’s Today team gave a toast Pete Williams on Friday as the veteran Supreme Court and Justice Department correspondent retires at the end of this month.
“When Pete speaks, it is fully vetted, you know that it is accurate, you know that it is fair,” said Today co-host Savannah Guthrie.
The Today team of Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Sheinelle Jones and Tom Llamas held up glasses of champagne to toast Williams, who held up his own glass from NBC News’ Washington, D.C. bureau.
Williams has not announced what he will do next, but said that he has “plenty of new projects to take on.” Williams has been with the network for almost 30 years.
Kelly O’Donnell will add to her duties as senior White House correspondent and serve as interim Supreme Court correspondent until a permanent successor is chosen. The network also announced a series of changes...

NBC News has hired former FBI attorney Lisa Page, a key figure in the long-running Russia collusion investigation, as an on-air contributor with the title national security and legal analyst.
President Trump immediately reacted to the Page hire, blasting it on Twitter.
“You must be kidding???” Trump tweeted Friday night. “This is a total disgrace!”
Page debuted on MSNBC Friday afternoon in a segment on the battles between Trump and Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser, who painted “Black Lives Matter” on a boulevard leading to the White House.
The new NBC contributor came to public attention when her texts with lover and fellow FBI employee Peter Strzok were part of the Robert Mueller investigation into possible Trump-Russia collusion.
