Publicist Cristina Novo-Bernal has been around music all her life. The daughter of a Peruvian mother and Argentinian father, she was born in Lima, Peru, but grew up in Miami. Her father was a concert promoter and also owned a nightclub; the family still has footage of little Cristina on stage with performers, singing alongside them. "Music is kind of all I've known and all I know," she tells Popsugar.
Now one of the preeminent publicists in Latin music, Novo-Bernal represents clients like Nicky Jam, Anuel AA, and Lenny Tavárez. Still, the 42-year-old couldn't have predicted that her career - as well as greater recognition of Latin music on the international stage - would take the twists and turns it has. With an attitude of "create your own lane," Novo-Bernal has solidified her place in a historically cutthroat industry. And despite her long and successful career, she promises she's just getting started.

Actor and singer Nicky Jam is no stranger to the Latin Grammys stage, and this year, he performed a touching rendition of “El Perdon” as he shared the stage with young singers from the Latin Grammys Cultural Foundation. He performed the song alongside a live band, on a stage designed as a recording studio. The setup was particularly special because it foreshadowed the surprise that awaited the young singers: They also received a donated grant from Jam to support their musical careers.

When Ileana Cabra Joglar, known professionally as iLe takes the stage at Brooklyn's Public Records, it is to a round of raucous applause and whistles-something the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter is no doubt used to by now. As one-third of the reggaeton group Calle 13, iLe toured with her brothers, Eduardo Cabra Martinez and René Perez Joglar, performing at packed coliseums in Puerto Rico and arenas around the world before embarking on her own solo career. With her debut album, "iLevitable," she announced her arrival as a solo artist in triumphant fashion-embracing her own path and a sound independent of the one she'd cultivated alongside her brothers while snagging herself the Grammy for best Latin rock, urban, or alternative album. Now, that path has led her to Public Records, where before an intimate crowd she preps to preview her third and maybe most personal album yet, "Nacarile."
