The company was founded by Benjamin Grubbs, former global head of top creator partnerships at YouTube, and Silicon Valley tech investor and entrepreneur Jonathan Shambroom (who was once Gm of the Crackle streaming service).
The duo say Creator Plus (creatorplus.com) has raised $12 million in funding from Malaysia-based investment firm Petra Group and Freestyle Capital, as well as entrepreneurial creators Jake Roper, Peter Hollens, Wendy Ayche (aka Wengie), tech veterans including Selina Tobaccowala, and strategic business partners including Jazwares CEO Judd Zebersky.

YouTube has canceled “Escape the Night” after four seasons, ending its longest-running original series, Variety has confirmed. The semi-scripted murder-mystery series was hosted by Joey Graceffa, who presided over the retro mega-collab in which a famous YouTuber got killed off in each episode.
But Graceffa isn’t letting “Escape the Night” fade to black.
In a video posted Tuesday, he said Season 5 of the show was not happening “this year” but he left the door open for the series to return (which would be under different auspices now that YouTube has dropped it). “I don’t know when there will be a Season 5,” Graceffa said, saying it was unable to go forward because Covid-19 production shutdowns.
Graceffa didn’t say that “Escape the Night” was canceled. However, a source tells Variety that YouTube declined to pick up “Etn” Season 5.

Eva Gutowski wasn't always the YouTube superstar she is today. Once upon a time, she was just a broadcast journalism major struggling to get by. But once she picked up the video camera, following her father John's advice, and began sharing bits and pieces of her life on the video-sharing website, all that changed. Her channel, MyLifeAsEva, quickly gained a following that included more than just her friends, with people all over the world tuning in to watch her latest upload. 10.5 million subscribers and over a billion views later, she's become one of the platform's biggest stars, published a book, and even landed a gig as one of one of the rotating social media correspondents on MTV's 2017 (and sadly,...

MTV has spun off its popular Guy Code and Girl Code television franchise into a new gender-neutral iteration aimed at teens, bowing exclusively today on Snapchat.
Guy Code, in which famous male figures share their thoughts about an unspoken code of conduct that exists among men, debuted on MTV2 in 2011, and spawned the Girl Code spin-off series in 2013 with the same premise. Both shows are no longer on television, though Snapchat revived Girl Code for its Discover section in July 2017.
On a new spin-off dubbed Teen Code -- which was announced in early 2018, but finally arrives today -- an illustrious fleet social influencers will share their own life advice, personal anecdotes, and fun facts about life as teenagers, per MTV. The eight-episode series will feature appearances from Liza Koshy, Jay Versace, Eva Gutowski, Emma Chamberlain, Jordyn Jones, and more. Eva Gutowski, the YouTube star whose MyLifeAsEva channel has clocked a stunning 10.4 million subscribers, is the latest digital star to hop on the PETA train.
Gutowski is starring in a new campaign for the animal rights organization to urge fans not to visit marine parks like Seaworld, aquariums, or to pay for ‘swim with dolphins’ sessions. In the print ad, Gutowski is pictured trapped in a glass tank, as if she were a dolphin in one of the aforementioned facilities. The ad’s tagline states, “This Is No Place for Animals. Don't Support Marine Parks."
PETA notes that wild dolphins swim up to 60 miles per day in family pods, while orca whales travel up to 140 miles a day -- both of which are unfeasible in the confines of tanks filled with chemically-treated water. PETA also notes that animals participating in ‘swim with dolphins’ events are in danger of consuming lethal objects,...

Viacom has seen massive success on YouTube with Tana Turns 21 -- a reality series that lives on MTV’s channel, chronicling Tana Mongeau’s ascent into legality, as well as her head-scratching marriage to Jake Paul.
Now, Viacom -- which also owns Comedy Central -- is rolling out another reality series starring Jason Nash, the comedian and vlogger who is perhaps best known as a member of David Dobrik’s 'Vlog Squad'. A six-month-old hair accessories brand called Insert Name Here -- which vends wigs, extensions, and hair pieces on the web -- has clinched a seven-figure annual run-rate after being founded in November. Social influencers, its three founders say, have been formative to the startup’s success. And the three founders know a thing or two about social influencers.
Insert Name Here (Inh) is looking to follow in the footsteps of socially savvy stalwarts like clothing retailer Fashion Nova and ColourPop Cosmetics, where two of Inh’s co-founders -- Jordynn Wynn and Sharon Pak -- were the first two employees.
Wynn and Pak helped Colourpop become a major player in today’s beauty industry -- thanks in no small part to its mastery of Instagram. Early on, for instance, ColourPop latched onto viral hashtags to amass hordes of followers, sponsored influencer posts, and eventually forged full-fledged product collabs with the likes of Bretman Rock,...

The second season of Bizaardvark will feature more cameos while continuing to develop the show’s storyline and characters. “Our hope is that Bizaardvark inspires kids to embrace their own creativity and individuality, and encourages them to express themselves,” said Adam Bonnett, the Evp of original programming at Disney Channel Worldwide. “We...

Disney is making a stated push to showcase influencers on its TV channel via the newly launched Bizaardvark series -- which, in itself, is about two best friends who create an online comedy channel.
In addition to series regular Jake Paul, a Viner-turned-actor who represents the first influencer to star in a Disney Channel TV show, Bizaardvark -- which premiered in June -- has featured digital luminaries Lilly Singh, Logan Paul, Alisha Marie, Meredith Foster, Thomas Sanders, Eva Gutowski, and Rosanna Pansino as guest stars, according to Variety. While many of the aforementioned creators have played themselves on the show, others have appeared as original characters in a bid to flex their acting muscles.
