ABFF Ventures LLC, producer of the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), announced that its custom-built online platform, ABFF Play, has broadened the company’s global footprint offering studios the opportunity to reach beyond the annual film festival to showcase content targeted to Black audiences.
The expanded ABFF Play serves as a virtual venue for studios, networks and streamers to promote content and engage with a curated audience of consumers passionate about Black film and television. Studio partners can maintain an exclusive channel 365 days a year on ABFF Play to feature trailers, host screenings and present live or video-on-demand talent interviews. The available content will be amplified across the ABFF brand’s network and social media platforms.

Michael B. Jordan’s award-winning films “Just Mercy,” and “Fruitvale Station” will serve as the opening-night screenings for the inaugural Social Justice Now Film Festival (Sjnff).
Both films will play on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Paramount’s Drive-In Theater, sponsored by Amazon Studios.
Jordan serves as a co-ambassador for the film festival, which runs Oct. 21-25, alongside Black Lives Matter co-founder Opal Tometi. On screen and off, Jordan and his Outlier Society production company have made social justice causes a priority. The Film Life Foundation’s inaugural Social Justice Now Film Festival (Sjnff) has unveiled its robust program including its spotlight screenings including the documentaries 40 Years A Prisoner from HBO, Us Kids, and Sncc executive produced by Pharell Williams as well as I Am Other. and the narrative feature Reefa. The fest will also feature the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed Just Mercy and Ryan Coogler’s award-winning Fruitvale Station as opening night films which will screen at Paramount’s Drive-In Theater on Wednesday, October 21. Both films star Michael B. Jordan, who was previously announced as Co-Ambassador alongside Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Opal Tometi. The American Black Film Festival announced today their plans to remember Chadwick Boseman. With support from three major Hollywood studios, the American Black Film Festival will be airing a Chadwick Boseman tribute on its streaming service ABFF Play.
The Remembering Chadwick Boseman Film Retrospective will be available for free on October 3 and 4. Boseman’s films “42,” “Get On Up” and “Marshall” will all air as part of the retrospective.
“We truly appreciate WarnerBros, Universal Pictures, and Open Road Films for providing these three films in support of the Chadwick Boseman retrospective. We’re grateful to be able to offer the ABFF community and other fans a platform to see and celebrate his incredible talent and groundbreaking work portraying important Black figures,” said ABFF Ventures president Nicole Friday.
In “Marshall,” Boseman played civil rights attorney Thurgood Marshall who went on to become the first African American associate justice named to the highest court in the land.
