This article contains spoilers for The Last of Us Part II.
The first season of HBO’s The Last of Us has widely been considered a success. From the casting to how the show molds the story itself for a new medium, both newcomers to Joel and Ellie’s journey and longtime fans of the games have found The Last of Us to be a compelling and engaging show. Adapting The Last of Us Part I was certainly no easy feat, but The Last of Us Part II is a different beast entirely.
Not only does the second game have more story and characters to cover, it has also proved to be a lot more controversial than its predecessor – especially when it comes to the playable character Abby. Abby was a new character in The Last of Us Part II, and while she’s introduced fairly early into the game,...

Exclusive: The Wilds star Shannon Berry has joined the cast of Susanna Fogel’s Canadian feature Winner.
Berry is appearing opposite Emilia Jones, Zach Galifianakis, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez and Connie Britton in the darkly comedic biopic. The casting reunites the emerging Australian actress with The Spy Who Dumped Me director Fogel, who directed her in the pilot of Prime Video drama series The Wilds.
Winner is a biopic of Reality Winner (Jones), a brilliant misfit U.S. Air Force member and Nsa consultant who in 2018 was given the longest prison sentence in American history for the unauthorized release of government information to the media — five years, three months — after leaking an intelligence report about Russian interference in the 2016 election.
We first told you about the film last October, as the film went into principal photography. The feature is set to take on the traditional whistleblower thriller — a coming-of-age story about...

This Last of Us article contains Major Spoilers for season 1 and potentially season 2.
The mushroom madness of The Last of Us season one has come to an end, but with HBO already giving a second run of episodes the green light (was anyone really doubting it?), all eyes are on what’s next for Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) now that they’ve completed their mission to find the Fireflies.
Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin serves as showrunner for the HBO series, working alongside Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann to bring the classic 2013 game to life. For the second season, the pair have confirmed that they’re going to next adapt 2020’s The Last of Us Part II.
In fact, some fans think the season 1 finale, “Look for the Light,” is actually hiding a major character from The Last of Us Part II in plain sight, paving the way...

The island experiment is over as Amazon has canceled its Prime Video series The Wilds after two seasons. According to Deadline, the cast and crew of the young adult survival series were informed of the decision on Thursday, July 28. The teen drama debuted on December 11, 2020, and earned a quick renewal following a positive fan response. The second season was released on May 6, 2022, and the fate of the show remained in limbo until now. Created by Sarah Streicher and developed and produced by the late Jamie Tarses, The Wilds centered on a group of teenage girls who are left stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash but are unaware they are the subjects of a social experiment. Season 2 introduced a group of teenage boys that were part of the same experiment on another island — the season ended on a cliffhanger bringing the two groups together. The cast features Sophia Ali,...

It's game over for The Wilds.
Deadline reports that Prime Video has canceled the buzzy drama after two seasons.
The series burst onto the screen in 2020, landing a speedy renewal and rave reviews.
As the first YA series on the streaming service, it broke through in a way many shows that followed it did not.
However, the second season premiered in May, failing to reach its predecessor's success.
Season 2 of The Wilds continued to follow the harrowing ordeal of a group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, and they didn't end up there by accident - they've secretly been recruited into an elaborate social experiment.
The season ratchets up the drama by revealing that the girls aren't the only ones being studied... there's a new set of subjects, an island of teenage boys, who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment's puppet master.

Exclusive: Prime Video’s The Wilds will not return for a third season. I hear the cast and crew of the YA survival drama were just told about the decision, which comes almost three months after Season 2 was released May 6.
The Wilds, one of the last shows developed and produced by the late Jamie Tarses, was an important series for Prime Video and Amazon Studios. It was part of the very first batch of YA pilots ordered by Amazon Studios soon after Jennifer Salke took the reins as part of an expansion in that arena. It was the first YA series to premiere on Prime Video and the first to go to a second season.
Prime Video remains committed to young-adult content with a slate that includes recent breakouts The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Boys Presents: Diabolical and Invincible as well as the upcoming series Shelter, based on the...

“Once upon a time, two plane crashes were staged. All of the victims were dosed and stranded on two islands.”
So begins “The Wilds” Season 2 trailer, confirming the cliffhanger ending of the first Prime Video season, which premiered in December 2020.
The gendered social experiment “The Rise of Eve” led to the discovery of the all-male “control group,” which eerily mirrors the girls’ group, consisting of Sarah Pidgeon, Helena Howard, Mia Healey, Erana James, Sophia Taylor Ali, Shannon Berry, Reign Edwards, and Jenna Clause.
“Brothers and Sisters” alum Rachel Griffiths stars as the mastermind scientist behind the boundary-pushing experiment to create a utopia.
“The Wilds” is created by Sarah Streicher, and Season 2 premieres May 6 on Prime Video. The first trailer for the second season shows that the boys’ group, dubbed “The Fall of Adam,” is now at the center of the “Lord of the Flies”-esque series.

Thanks to $9.8 million from the Federal Government and support from theQueensland Government’s Production Attraction Strategy, the ABC Signature series, starring Aussies Rachel Griffiths, Mia Healey and Shannon Berry, will shoot on the Gold Coast in April. The expectation is the production will create 270 jobs for cast and crew and add $73 million to the local economy.
The young adult drama is the second international production announced for Australia this week via the government’s Location Incentive Program, with Netflix’s God’s Favourite Idiot set to shoot in Nsw’s Northern Rivers.
Since the government topped up the incentive with $400 million last July, the program has attracted 11 productions, with the others Australian Survivor, The Tourist, Thirteen Lives, Escape From Spiderhead, Pieces of Her, Blacklight, Irreverent, Joe Exotic and Young Rock.
Created by Sarah Streicher and showrun by Amy B.

I'll take The Wilds over Lost any day. I know this is a big statement to make but, after watching the entire Prime Video series in 72 hours, I was more invested in the Unsinkable Eight—played by Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Jenna Clause, Reign Edwards, Mia Healey, Helena Howard, Erana James and Sarah Pidgeon—than Lost's Oceanic Six. As E! readers may recall, Lost took the world by storm almost 17 years ago. The ABC drama ran for six seasons between 2004 and 2010 and won several prominent awards, including the '05 Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series and the '06 Golden Globe for Best Drama. It followed the fictional survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 after they crashed on a...

Amazon Studios has renewed its first young adult series, The Wilds, for a second season. The cast made the announcement today on social media. (you can watch it below)
Getting into the YA space was a main priority for Amazon Studios President Jennifer Salke. Shortly after she joined the company, she ordered three YA pilots with two, The Wilds and Panic, going to series. The Wilds was the first to premiere earlier this month.

[Editor’s Note: This article contains spoilers for Amazon Prime Video’s “The Wilds.”]
Not to get too “12 Days of Christmas” about it, but on Amazon Prime Video’s “The Wilds” there are nine female leads, six female directors, four female executive producers, four female writers, and a female stunt coordinator. It’s a series by women, for women, and about women — and given the rigors of the emotional subject manner and the YA audience’s bloodhound instinct for phoniness, using a cast and crew composed of people who have actually been teenage girls makes perfect sense.
It shouldn’t be that audacious, and yet it feels like it is. It also breaks boundaries because of the cross-genre storytelling — it’s both a survival tale and a coming-of-age story — and the fact that many of the characters are forced to deal with intersectional bias in their arcs.
The logline is deceptively simple: Nine teenage girls are, ostensibly,...

Now, I’m sure you all did what I suggested in my spoiler-free review of “The Wilds” and refrained from blowing through all 10 episodes in two days, right?
Of course you didn’t. So welcome to the review with spoilers.
On the surface, “The Wilds” is about a group of troubled teenage girls who are en route to a female empowerment retreat in Kona, Hawaii, when their plane crashes. They wind up on a deserted tropical island in the middle of nowhere and are forced to join together to survive, despite their disparate backgrounds and personalities.
That is, in fact, about 30 percent of what “The Wilds” is about. But creator Sarah Streicher’s work is more “Euphoria” than “Lost,” and more “The Usual Suspects” than “Lord of the Flies.”

What worse than being stranded on a deserted island? Being a teenage girl in the world, Amazon Prime’s teen survival drama The Wilds suggests in Friday’s series premiere.
The first episode begins with an investigation: A scratched-up Leah (played by Gotham‘s Sarah Pidgeon) is being interviewed about what happened after she and several other girls found themselves stuck in the middle of nowhere. According to Leah, the authorities assume it was a horrible experience. But “what was so f–king great about the lives we left behind?” she posits, before adding that being a teenage girl is “the real living hell,...

Not long after they’ve crash landed on a remote beach with no help in sight, the teen girl castaways of “The Wilds” put their situation into a perspective they can understand. Brainstorming a way to signal for help, pragmatic leader Dot (Shannon Berry) tosses surly athlete Rachel (Reign Edwards) a makeup mirror from one of their sea-drenched suitcases, insisting that she take it on their hike to reflect the sunlight back into the sky. “I saw them do it on ‘Bear Grylls,'” Dot shrugs, which is good enough for Rachel. As “The Wilds” likes to remind us at every given opportunity, these girls may be resilient, but they’re also just teenagers who were busy dealing with angst and trauma until they stumbled into this bizarre and terrifying new reality. If making it through this experience alive means recalling some bit of expertise from marathoning “Survivor” back home,...

The latest in teen drama’s ‘The Wilds’ from Amazon hits Prime Video this week, the gender-flipped ‘Lord of the Flies’ not only hits a refreshing note on the diversity front but, refreshingly, doesn’t pit young women against each other in order to succeed. Growing up is hard. Anybody who has made it far enough to look back knows that's true.
Amazon's first Young Adult series comes from creator/executive producer Sarah Streicher, executive producer/showrunner Amy B. Harris, and executive producers Jamie Tarses and Dylan Clark.
Featuring a female-driven story and a winning ensemble cast of impressive young women with a stunning turn from Rachel Griffiths, The Wilds, at first, seems like a combination of a gender-switched Lord of the Flies and ABC's Lost.
But at its core, The Wilds is all about growing up female and how easily young women can be beaten down and turned around despite family and friends' best intentions to keep them grounded.
The Wilds introduces us to eight young women on their way to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a retreat called "The Dawn of Eve," but before they ever get there, their plane crashes into the ocean,...

Leah has her head buried in a book. Fatin’s makeup is perfect. Martha is worried about her best friend, Toni, who seems increasingly angry. Nora is quiet. Her athletic sister, Rachel, is diligently measuring her food on an app that makes her iPhone double as a scale. Shelby is blonde and sunny. Dot is confrontational. Jeanette doesn’t know when to stop talking.
All of them are sitting in a chartered plane en route to Hawaii to attend a young women’s empowerment retreat — The Dawn of Eve — over a long weekend.
The plane takes off, things don’t go as planned, and these caricatures — purposefully crafted to hit the stereotypical marks of every teen show ever — are about to become the most compelling teenage girl characters seen in a genre TV program since “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Phoenix Raei, Shannon Berry, Cooper Van Grootel, Kate Lister and Daisy Axon are among the first actors on the roster of Creative Soul Management, a new talent management company just launched by Hallie McKeig.
The Perth-based McKeig has spent the last decade at the helm of Filmbites Talent Agency, but has decided to launch a more individualised management company given many of her actors are landing major roles in Australia and overseas.
“Creative Soul Management feels like the natural next step as we work more closely with actors on building rewarding international careers and lives in the film and television industry. We have a long term, comprehensive view towards working with great people, characters and stories,” she said.
McKeig will continue to run Filmbites, continuing its youth focus, while Creative Soul Management will specialise in national and international opportunities for breakout emerging and established talent.

Susanna Fogel (The Spy Who Dumped Me) has signed on to direct and executive produce The Wilds Ya pilot for Amazon Studios, from Sarah Streicher (Daredevil), producer Jamie Tarses and ABC Signature.
The Wilds, a co-production with ABC Signature Studios, is written by Streicher. It centers on a group of teenage girls from radically different backgrounds who find themselves stranded on a remote island, unaware that they’ve just become the subjects of an elaborate social experiment. Described as part survival drama, part dystopic slumber party, The Wilds explores the past and present struggles of these young women.
Streicher and Fogel executive produce with Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare and Dylan Clark Productions.
Similar to Fogel’s previous projects, The Wilds will feature a predominantly female cast. It was previously announced that Mia Healey, Helena Howard, Reign Edwards and Shannon Berry had signed on to series regular roles in the pilot.
