Berrnie was hired as an assistant art director in the Universal MCA Film and Television production art department. Manager Bill DeCinces hired Yeszin assigning Yeszin to various filmed-television productions the studio made for the NBC, CBS and ABC Television networks. One afternoon, Yeszin was relating to DeCinces that he had bought a horse for his girl friend, and they were stabling the horse at the Burbank Pickwick Horse stables, near the Universal studio lot. Decencis' parting remark: "Bernie, when you buy an animal, learn, never buy anything that eats more than you do".
