“Ok, I can die now.”
So said a woman seated behind The Hollywood Reporter inside Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, host of the inaugural The Netflix Slam. She had just snapped a selfie that captured superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz warming up on center court over her shoulder. Sure, it was a dramatic statement but it wasn’t obscene for such an occasion. There’s no shortage of gasp-worthy moments in Sin City, and there’s no doubt many of the 9,489 seated guests could relate to the sentiment.
The Sunday afternoon showdown, the latest in Netflix’s push for live streaming events, pitted two superstar Spaniards in an exhibition match that could be one of the final few times they meet across a net. Caroline Wozniacki and Eugenie Bouchard are slated to officially face each other on the opening weekend to kick off the Dallas Open, an Atp-only event.
For the second year in a row, two Wta players will herald the start of Tour-level tennis in Dallas, Texas. Last year, Madison Keys and Sloane Stephens were brought in as replacements for Venus Williams and Danielle Collins and played an exhibition match dubbed the Women's Tennis Classic.
The tournament organizers have already planned next year's edition by inviting former Wta No. 1 Wozniacki, who is set to resume her comeback from retirement in January, and 2014 Wimbledon finalist Bouchard to entertain a vibrant American crowd.
Bouchard's long-term future as a tennis pro remains in doubt, having committed to play pickleball in 2024 and even announcing her first official tournament playing the paddle sport.

Eugenie Bouchard is set to play pickleball professionally in 2024, and she has already announced her first tournament of the season.
Only recently, the Canadian announced a surprising move to pickleball, but even despite the switch, she still competed on the Wta Tour and even represented Canada at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
However, one thing is now clear when it comes to her tennis career, and that's the fact that Bouchard won't compete at the 2024 Australian Open. That seemed to be confirmed already when she didn't appear on the entry list, but she still could have received a surprising wild card.
But that won't happen, as at the start of the tournament, Bouchard will be on a completely different continent, competing on the 2024 Carvana Ppa Tour at the Hyundai Masters at Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Springs.

Most established tennis stars have always sought to harness their reputations not solely with their rackets but through humanitarian efforts.
These players have used their platforms and financial resources to aid the underprivileged to access quality education, improved healthcare, and a better life. In hindsight, they always look for avenues to give back to society because of their vast riches.
One way that happens is through establishing not-for-profit foundations and leveraging their star power to organize exhibition events. The most iconic and proficient doubles team in tennis history, comprised of the two twin brothers, Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, managed such a cause.
The Bryan brothers partnered with Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation (Nchf), co-founded by former golf great Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara. The Nchf is a charitable organization that gives children and families access to world-class pediatric health care.

Eugenie Bouchard has leaped into the defense of Nick Kyrgios in light of his current stint as a match commentator for Tennis Channel.
Because of Kyrgios' bad-boy persona on he court, he has grown to become a divisive figure in the tennis world. So, while Kyrgios' work as a pundit at the Atp Finals has been positively received, it was clear he was not going to please all the masses.
Several fans were clearly not happy that the Australian maverick was getting all the attention even while he was injured. One annoyed fan wrote on Instagram, "When are you people going to stop giving this guy a platform?"
Bouchard, who appears to have taken his leave from Canada's celebrations after clinching a historic first Billie Jean King Cup title, fired back to the detractor. The 29-year-old responded, "Stop being a hater!"

Leylah Fernandez has joined forces with Gabriela Dabrowski to beat Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, and send Canada into the final at the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
The 21-year-old Canadian has shown great form on the Wta Tour in recent weeks. She was on a seven-match win streak, and funnily enough, it was Katerina Siniakova who snapped that streak.
But that didn't matter much for Fernandez as she proved to be in incredible form at the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Seville. First, beating Sara Sorribes Tormo, then overcoming Magda Linette, before besting also Marketa Vondrousova.
The Canadian won all three of her singles matches at the tournament, but with the semifinal tie against the Czech Republic levelled at 1-1 after two singles matches, she needed to step up once again if she wanted to see her country play in the final.

Eugenie Bouchard might have turned to pickleball, but she'll play for Canada at this year's Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
Eugenie Bouchard will likely never hit the peak she had early on in her tennis career, which is unfortunate, but she still has chances to make some great memories. She was selected as part of the Canadian Billie Jean King Cup team, and should the team go all the way, then it would be quite something for her.
She announced earlier this year that she's switching to pickleball but will have a chance to prove she still has 'it' in tennis. Speaking ahead of the event, Bouchard admitted she's very excited about playing for her country.
Yeah, very excited. I think it's always special playing for your country. I've done it many times over my career. I always enjoy having the support of teammates, because normally we play an individual...

Eugenie Bouchard never put together the career many saw for her, but even so, she's still respected in her native Canada as she was selected for the Canadian Billie Jean King Cup team.
Bouchard once made a deep run at Wimbledon as a teenager which kind of amazed everybody as people thought that we got a new tennis star on the Wta Tour. She didn't quite live up to that though her career was greatly impacted by injuries as well.
The injuries had a particularly negative impact in recent years as she attempted a comeback which got completely derailed by a shoulder injury. It's unfortunate because she did play some really good tennis. Even this year, Bouchard had her moments but once again dealt with injury problems.

Eugenie Bouchard finally made her new relationship with Jack Brinkley-Cook public via Instagram.
The Canadian received a surprise main draw wildcard at the tournament in Guadalajara merely weeks ago . She would end up losing in the second round, but put up a good fight against Russia's Veronika Kudermetova on the day.
But perhaps what has not come as much of a shock is Bouchard confirming that she is in a relationship with Jack Brinkley-Cook.
Both Bouchard and Brinkley-Cook were spotted several times together and enjoying one another's company. In addition to this, Brinkley-Cook was a notable spectator in Bouchard's player box when she competed at the Madrid Open earlier this year.
Brinkley-Cook is no stranger to life in the public eye and perhaps can empathize with Bouchard's struggles on a tennis court in recent seasons. He is the son of Christie Brinkley, who is both a supermodel actress and a recognized entrepreneur.

2014 Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard was granted a surprise wild card at the Wta 1000 tournament in Guadalajara.
The Guadalajara Open is the biggest tennis tournament in Mexico with main draw action set to commence next week, September 17th in a singles playing field featuring 64 players. And for the second year in a row, the 29-year-old Bouchard has received a direct entry into the main draw as a wild card.
The tournament has been marred with so many high-profile withdrawals in the past couple of days, with seven of the world's Top-10 players skipping the penultimate Wta 1000 of the season. This hasn't gone down well with tennis fans on social media , and officials face an anxious wait before the draw in the hope there won't be any more withdrawals.
Last year, she defeated American Kayla Day in her opening match but was sent packing by Jelena Ostapenko in the subsequent round in three sets.

Canada's Eugenie Bouchard stirred up controversy by posting a cryptic but sly tweet on X that is seemingly directed at Romanian star Simona Halep .
On Tuesday, the tennis world was treated to the bombshell news that Halep, a former No. 1, was judged to have intentionally committed breaches of the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme and will serve an eyebrow-raising four-year suspension .
Bouchard is synonymous with her strong disapproval of players judged to have breached any anti-doping regulations. Earlier this year, she posted an unprovoked tweet aimed at Dayana Yastremska after defeating the Ukranian at the Wta 1000 event in Madrid (before she deleted it after receiving mixed reactions).
The tweet read: "There's something about playing dopers in Madrid," revisiting Yastremska's past for violating anti-doping regulations. The tweet also took aim at Maria Sharapova , whom Bouchard defeated at the same event back in 2017, shortly after the Russian returned from a 15-month suspension for testing positive for meldonium.

Eugenie Bouchard is yet another player that made a shocking move to pickleball , signing up for the Ppa Tour in 2024.
It's not the first time that we'll see a tennis pro move to the pickleball court. Only recently, former Atp pro, Jack Sock retired from professional tennis , but at the same time, announced his move to pickleball's Ppa Tour .
It's his colleague from the Wta Tour, Eugenie Bouchard, who will now join him on the Ppa Tour, as the Canadian is set to join the growing list of tennis players making a switch from tennis to pickleball.
Only recently, holding the world in her grip at the No. 5 spot in the Wta Rankings , Bouchard was one of the finest talents on the women's tour. But the wheel of time is unpredictable, and for Bouchard, it is now hinting at a path in pickleball career.

Dayana Yastremska is not one to forget easily, and she didn't shake hands with Eugenie Bouchard after their US Open qualifying match.
The matchup between Yastremska and Bouchard was highly anticipated due to the players' history. In the past, Bouchard commented about Yastremska and her doping ban after their match at the Wta 1000 event in Madrid, which wasn't well received.
The Canadian quickly apologized for her remarks, but the Ukranian hasn't forgotten being called a doper even though she cleared her name. She's proved to be quite open about her beliefs, never shying away from speaking her mind on things like the War in Ukraine.
Along with Kostyuk, Yastremska has been a vocal advocate for the total exclusion of Russian players, and it's not surprising that she reacted the way she did after the match. The match itself saw Yastremska play a very aggressive and attacking style.

Dayana Yastremska completed a pretty strong win over Eugenie Bouchard in the US Open qualifiers, which is pretty good revenge.
What revenge you say? Well, some time ago, Bouchard made some comments about Yastremska , which didn't go well in the tennis community. The Canadian player quickly apologized after her remarks, but there was an added motive here today.
It was quite visible in the way the Ukranian approached the match, and if we come to know anything about Yastremska in the past year, she doesn't shy away from speaking her mind. The opening set was one-sided, completely dominated by Yastremska.
Yastremska plays very aggressively and hits the ball hard. Initially, that was very overwhelming for the Canadian who didn't find any good solutions early. She did find solutions in the second set taking it 6-4 which made things interesting.

Eugenie Bouchard will play Dayana Yastremska in the US Open qualifying on Thursday - the first collision since the Canadian's controversial doping tweet.

It was her first main draw win at the event since 2017 when she defeated Maria Sharapova en route to the quarterfinals.

Any sports, when done correctly, looks pretty easy from the comforts of your home. Tennis is no exception, yet if you've ever stood on a tennis court, you'll notice that it's pretty big and going from one side to the other becomes very exhausting.
Even so, there are plenty of amateur players in the US who believe they could hold their own against a professional tennis player. The graphic was brought up during a segment with Andy Roddick and Andrea Petkovic on the Tennis Channel, and it left them both in stitches.

Montreal (Canada), Aug 12 (Ians) World No.1 Iga Swiatek reached the semifinals of the ongoing Canadian Open with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win over qualifier Danielle Collins, here.

By reaching this quarterfinal, Swiatek extended her reign as the No.1-ranked player to 72 weeks, 10th place on the all-time list and one more than Caroline Wozniacki.

Eugenie Bouchard didn't handle her first-round qualifying match at Wimbledon well, losing in straight sets.
The Canadian is trying to restart her career, but she doesn't seem to be able to put a good string of results together. Bouchard participated in multiple Wta events in 2023, but often she had to go through qualifying, and even after succeeding in those stages, she was often eliminated in the main draw quickly.
In the past, the Canadian was really successful. She made the Australian Open semi-final in 2014, adding a Roland Garros semi-final later that year as well as a Wimbledon final in 2014 as well. She was number 5 in the world that year but then her career went the wrong way. She struggled with her tennis for years going up and down in the rankings but never coming close to her former level.
She then dealt with some injuries and a minor resurgence back...

Amidst the flurry of accolades and worldwide appreciation that ensued, an unexpected praise arrived from an avowed Roger Federer fan - the talented Eugenie Bouchard. Known for her admiration of the Swiss Maestro, Bouchard didn't let her allegiance cloud her recognition of Djokovic's extraordinary achievement.
"I’m the biggest Roger fan but we all have to admit Novak is the undisputed goat. Insanely impressive."

Eugenie Bouchard lost in the first qualifying round of the 2023 Italian Open in Rome, also called the Rome Masters.
In recent weeks, the 29-year-old showed some promising form, winning a match in Bogota and Oeiras, before flying into the qualifying of the Madrid Open. Bouchard succeeded in the Spanish capital and fought her way into the main draw.
She then also won in the first round of the tournament against Dayana Yastremska, a win that was overshadowed by a comment which called her opponent and Maria Sharapova dopers. In her second-round match, the Canadian lost to Martina Trevisan in two sets and she set her sight on the Wta 1000 event in the Italian capital.

In the aftermath of a controversial tweet, Eugenie Bouchard offered an apology for her dig at fellow Wta colleagues.
The 2023 Madrid Open saw the Canadian navigate her way through the qualifying rounds and secure a first-round victory over Dayana Yastremska. However, her success on the court was overshadowed by a controversial tweet in which she took a jab at Yastremska and Maria Sharapova, referring to them as "dopers".
In the original tweet, Bouchard stated: "There's something about playing dopers in Madrid." She later deleted the tweet and issued an apology after her second-round exit from the tournament, admitting her lapse in judgment and acknowledging the importance of fair play.
"I want to apologize for my tweet yesterday. It was a lapse in judgment, and unnecessary. Though I’ve always championed fair play, I didn’t have all my facts in order and certainly didn’t mean to cause harm. I...

Eugenie Bouchard seemed to be in a very good mood after her first-round win at the 2023 Madrid Open, but she wasn't so successful in round two.
After successfully navigating her way through the qualifying, the Canadian defeated Dayana Yastremska in the first round of the 2023 Madrid Open. After the match, Bouchard sparked controversy with her tweet, which read: "There's something about playing dopers in Madrid."
She soon regretted that and removed the tweet to focus on her second-round match at the Wta 1000 event in the Spanish capital, this time against the 18th-seeded Martina Trevisan from Italy who she lost to three years ago at the Australian Open.
This time, the two met on a different surface, but that didn't really help the Canadian. Bouchard started the match on a back foot, being broken in her first two service games. The Italian therefore easily created a 4-0 lead that Bouchard wanted to erase.

Eugenie Bouchard made an interesting remark about Maria Sharapova and Dayana Yastremska in a tweet following her latest win at the 2023 Madrid Open.
The Canadian made waves on social media, not only for her impressive performance at the 2023 Madrid Open, in her first appearance at the event since 2017, but also for taking a subtle jab at Maria Sharapova and Dayana Yastremska.
After a stunning comeback victory against Yastremska, Bouchard, who previously said that she feels like starting her career again from zero, posted a tweet that seemed to reference both players' past doping scandals.
Bouchard's controversial tweet followed her first-round win against Yastremska, which saw her bounce back from a set down to secure a 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-2 victory. The Canadian's tweet, which read, "There's something about playing dopers in Madrid," was quickly interpreted as a nod to Yastremska's 2021 doping scandal, as well as a throwback to her 2017 encounter with Maria Sharapova.

Holger Rune supports Emma Raducanu's minimalistic approach to dealing with British media, championing the power of silence.
Ahead of the 2023 Madrid Open, Raducanu held a truly rare press conference when she used only 58 words to answer 16 questions. It seemed that the 2021 US Open champion wasn't in the mood for talking ahead of the first clay-court Wta 1000 event, and only a few hours later, we probably found out why.
Raducanu was forced to withdraw from the 2023 Madrid Open due to a right-hand injury, resulting in a drop from the Top 100 for the first time since her major triumph in the Flushing Meadows. But while some fans weren't happy with her press conference, fellow pro from the Atp Tour, Holger Rune could relate to the Brit's choice to provide short answers.

Eugenie Bouchard has reflected on her progress as her comeback continues at the 2023 Madrid Open.
The Canadian had to get through two Madrid Open qualifiers to reach the main draw of the event for the first time in six years. Bouchard first defeated Sara Sorribes Tormo via a walkover and then went on to defeat Elizabeth Mandlik in straight sets.
Although the nature of qualification for the main event of a Wta 1000 competition may seem unusual for a former Wimbledon finalist, it is a big personal step for Bouchard as she continues a slow recovery from a long-term shoulder injury. The 29-year-old spoke to reporters at the Madrid Open and expressed her joy in making progress, no matter how small.
"Yes and no. I’ve gotten a couple of good matches in. I’m just proud that I’m able to have a chance to play another match. Matches are...

Eugenie Bouchard is building her way back to the top of the Wta Tour and she has to do it in a way that she doesn't have to experience quite often, through qualifying.
Currently, the 29-year-old Canadian competes at the 2023 Madrid Open, where she enrolled to the qualifying in hopes to secure her spot in the main draw. In the first round of the competition, Bouchard took on Sara Sorribes Tormo from Spain, who is a difficult opponent, especially on clay courts.
In 2021, the Spanish player finished the season as the 36th player on the Wta Tour after lifting her first, and until today only Wta title. But her start of the 2023 season was plagued by injuries and so they had a lot to talk about with Bouchard who is no stranger to injuries.
However, recently the Canadian said that she still believes in her comeback, and she showed that in the first qualifying match.

Eugenie Bouchard said she remains committed to competing for the big titles in Wta tennis as her recovery continues.
Bouchard returned to professional tennis in August 2022 after a year and a half out with a shoulder injury. The return has been difficult for the former Wimbledon finalist as she has struggled for form and was eliminated in the qualifying stages of the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Australian Open.

Eugenie Bouchard is set to make a return to the courts, thanks to a wild card entry into the main draw of the Itf Oeiras Ladies Open.
The former World No. 5 will join forces with Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina, another wildcard recipient, to bring unmatched excitement and fanfare to this year's Itf event in Portugal.
Bouchard, currently sitting at No. 292 in the Wta Rankings, has faced numerous challenges in her career since her heyday in 2014. A series of injuries and a slump in form have hindered her progress, but the 29-year-old is now determined to climb back up the ranks and reestablish herself on the Wta Tour.
Thus far in 2023, Bouchard has participated in only three tournaments. Her best performance came at the 2023 Bogota Open in Colombia, where she reached the second round. Unfortunately, she was unable to make it past the qualifiers in both the Asb Classic and the Australian Open.

Eugenie Bouchard made a triumphant return to tennis with her first-round win at the 2023 Bogota Open.
This season, the 29-year-old played only two matches, before she was forced to take an extended break again due to an injury. After three months away from the courts of the Wta Tour, Bouchard received a wild card for the 2023 Bogota Open, and she accepted it to play her first clay-court tournament since 2020.
In the first round, the Canadian was drawn against Ylena In-Albon from Switzerland, ranked 137th. The Wta 250 event in Bogota, also referred to as the Copa Colsanitas, is one of the tournaments that gives lower-ranked players good chance to make a deep run as the highest-ranked player in the draw is world no. 29, Elise Mertens.
Bouchard and In-Albon never met before but the Canadian has much more experience with winning important matches, especially after her run into the 2014 Wimbledon final.

Chennai, Sep 14 (Ians) India’s Karman Kaur Thandi was knocked out of the women’s singles event of the Chennai Open 2022 Wta 250 tennis tournament after losing to Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard in pre-quarters at the Sdat Stadium, here on Wednesday.
The Indian tennis player, who beat eighth seed Chloe Paquet in the first round, lost 2-6, 6-7 to Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard, the Wimbledon 2014 finalist.
Karman began well, with her powerful groundstrokes keeping Bouchard on her toes. The Indian, however, was unable to find the winners and was broken in the very first game. Bouchard quickly moved through the gears, aided by some unforced errors from Thandi, and took the opening set despite being broken once.
The 24-year-old Indian competed much better in the second set, matching the Canadian shot-for-shot. She managed a crucial breakthrough in the sixth game to take a 4-2 lead and then consolidated it to 5-2 next game.
The Indian tennis player, who beat eighth seed Chloe Paquet in the first round, lost 2-6, 6-7 to Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard, the Wimbledon 2014 finalist.
