Episode 4 of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” was a shocking one for many who follow “the edit” when trying to figure out the winner. Rick Devens had been at the top or close to the top of many superfans’ lists of who had the winner’s edit this season, my own included, so it was a blindside to see him be voted out. He still has a chance of getting back into the game and winning thanks to Extinction Island, but this early elimination will surely make his path much harder.
With Rick off the board for now, we now look to other castaways still in the game to see if it is indeed they who have the winner’s edit. Let’s take a look at the top seven winner contenders after four episodes of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.”

When I was in 7th grade the first season of “Survivor” aired. Like millions around the world I was transfixed as cocky villain Richard Hatch won the game of social politics. For the past 18 years I have continued to watch with fervor. So it was an exhilarating experience this year to go to the grand final of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” and be inside the stadium where the biblical battle concluded. Watch my video recap above.

There are a lot of great strategic and physical games in the world. “Survivor” incorporates those elements, but above all is a game of people — where relationships, emotions and perceptions (or is it perspectives?) need to be navigated in order to win. All while being fatigued and starving. It makes every season unique and the world’s greatest game.

There are still two episodes of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” left to air, but we’re already certain that the Season 37 cast is one of the best in series history. From Angelina Keeley‘s jacket woes to Christian Hubicki and Gabby Pascuzzi‘s nerdmance, the current cast has brought the LOLs, tears and some iconic tribal council votes. But are Wtf moments the only thing that matter in determining whether you like a cast or not? There’s also style of play, chemistry between contestants and whether or not the best characters are also the best players. How do You define the best “Survivor” cast of all time?
Below, take our poll to decide which is the best overall cast in “Survivor” history. To help you decide we’ve narrowed the field down to our Top 8 most legendary casts and offer a brief analysis of what makes them are favorites.

After 18 years of watching CBS's hit series Survivor (and 36 seasons to boot), competitive reality TV shows are ingrained in our society. Not just game shows or Real World-type series, but full-on competitions.
Whether they're contestants trapped inside a house like on Big Brother or drag queens competing on RuPaul's Drag Race, fans have gotten hooked on finding who will win. Reality TV is our guilty pleasure! And, many have dreamed of being the lucky few to compete.
So, it's not surprising that some diehard fans created their own real-life versions of their favorite shows, like in the case of the university-set show, Survivor Maryland.
Survivor Maryland was started in 2012 at the University of Maryland by Austin Trupp, a student at the time. As a longtime fan of Survivor, Trupp wanted to bring the game to life as a fun activity that he could run with his classmates and dormmates.
