The iconic rock band Foo Fighters are set to embark on their Everything or Nothing At All stadium tour this summer. The group will hit 10 cities for a total of 12 shows as they showcase their latest album But Here We Are and honor the legacy of their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
The tour will commence with two back-to-back performances at New York’s Citi Field on July 17 and 19. The Pretenders and The Hives will serve as special guests, and alternate appearances throughout the tour. Additionally, Mammoth Wvh, Alex G, Amyl and the Sniffers and L7 will join the Foo Fighters on various dates.
This extensive stadium run marks the band’s biggest touring effort since the release of their 11th studio album, But Here We Are, which was also their first release since Hawkins tragic death in March 2022. Hawkins, who had been an integral part of the Foo Fighters’ lineup...

When the first season of The Oa dropped on Netflix without any warning eight years ago, there was little to prepare viewers. The duo who created, wrote, and directed the series, Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, had made a few interesting films, but were almost unknown outside of Sundance.
Their style of filmmaking in The Oa hypnotized, puzzled, and unsettled the viewers. It was a mixture of a dozen genres, switching from sci-fi thriller to teen drama.
However, the fact that the project did not fit into any framework apparently forced Netflix to cancel The Oa after two seasons, leaving fans without one of the most innovative sci-fi projects of the 21st century. Many viewers still hope to see the story continue in some form – a new season, a game or a comic book.

The soundtrack for Jane Schoenbrun’s new coming-of-age horror film I Saw the TV Glow has arrived, with songs by Sloppy Jane (featuring Phoebe Bridgers), Caroline Polachek, Bartees Strange, Jay Som, and more.
First announced in February, the soundtrack and its stacked lineup comes via A24 Music, and is available on a thematically-appropriate pink opaque vinyl. Atmospheric and diverse in style, the songs allude to the film’s emotional depth, and even contribute to the world of its narrative.
In the film, Bridgers and Sloppy Jane’s Haley Dahl appear as themselves, as do Kristina Esfandiari and her band King Woman. Also appearing in the film are Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, Justice Smith, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Conner O’Malley, and Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan (who contributed a bonus track to vinyl editions of the soundtrack).
Polachek’s song, “Starburned and Unkissed” dropped earlier this month as the soundtrack’s lead single.

Plot: An awkward teen (Justice Smith) and his friend (Brigette Lundy-Paine) become obsessed with a teen drama called The Pink Opaque. But, years after it gets cancelled, the lines between reality and fiction start to blur as they begin to wonder if perhaps they are part of the show they love.
Review: I Saw the TV Glow seems bound to be a conversation starter for horror fans once A24 puts it out later this year. By design, it’s a movie that’s meant to be dissected, with it defying genre expectations to the point that, for some folks, this will be a genuinely tedious experience. At the same time, others will love director Jane Schoenbrun’s stab at what the Sundance programmers have called “emo-horror.”
I’m sorry to say that I found this a difficult sit, as within ten minutes, I was looking at my watch and realizing...

Caroline Polachek has unveiled “Starburned and Unkissed,” her original contribution to the absolutely stacked soundtrack for Jane Schoenbrun and A24’s new film, I Saw the TV Glow.
Produced by Polachek alongside A.G. Cook, “Starburned and Unkissed” is cathartic, noisy, and anthemic — the distorted electric guitar that drops in the song’s chorus is so visceral that it feels alien to the sun-soaked ecstasy of Polachek’s last album, Desire, I Want to Turn Into You. A press release notes that “Starburned and Unkissed” features prominently in the film, and the song’s grungy hue mirrors the film’s eerie, psychological horror backdrop. Stream the track below.

“I Saw the TV Glow” director Jane Schoenbrun finally celebrated their second feature at the film’s New York City premiere on Wednesday, April 24, in partnership with Rooftop Films. But “I Saw the TV Glow” first premiered back in January at Sundance, under the banner of A24, and with Emma Stone and Dave McCary’s production company Fruit Tree.
“I sent it to [Fruit Tree] and a couple other people, and they were like, ‘Hey, we wanna work with you,'” Schoenbrun told IndieWire. “Then I got a call from Emma Stone who was like, ‘Thank you so much for your business,’ and I was like, ‘You’re welcome!'”
The visually striking film follows two teens who are obsessed with a disturbing young adult TV show that, once canceled, starts to bleed into reality for the characters. David Ehrlich wrote in IndieWire’s review that the film “marries the queer radicality...

I wasn’t in the overwhelming camp of critics enamored by Jane Schoenbrun’s We’re All Going to the World’s Fair. I don’t say that to brag or even scold, but to set proper expectations as you read this review of I Saw the TV Glow. Schoenbrun’s style of borderline mournful listlessness has the structure of a neon daydream, which is fluttery and ethereal in ways that align with arthouse styles that are not meant to please all audiences. I Saw the TV Glow cements Schoenbrun’s cerebral and sobering lullaby style as a recurring signature, which I appreciate more this time. Schoenbrun understands and conveys the anxieties of existence so bluntly, albeit tuned to its own unique static-hazy frequency.

‘I Saw the TV Glow’ Review: Justice Smith in a Knockout Teen Drama About Art, Obsession and Identity
Self-discovery can be a painful process, ripping apart everything you thought you knew about the world and your place in it. But even more painful and terrifying is the denial of self. Looking in the mirror and turning away from the truth staring right back at you. It’s hard to understand why we do it — if we only get one life, why not live it authentically? And what happens to us when we live with parts of ourselves sealed away? What kind of life is that? How can anyone love you when you’re never really there?
Owen (Justice Smith) is a gentle, soft-spoken teen, afraid to break out of his shell. He’s been that way since he was a child, growing up with his attentive mother (Danielle Deadwyler) and distant father (Fred Durst). Though he feels drawn to his mother, quietly admiring her beauty and emotional honesty,...

Alex G has announced a handful of US tour dates for summer 2024, coinciding with the mind-boggling news that the scrappy singer-songwriter has made the major label jump to RCA Records.
After his set at New York’s Governors Ball in June, Alex will be playing headline shows throughout August in cities including San Diego, Anaheim, Sacramento, Eugene, Spokane, and more, wrapping up with a show at Las Vegas’ House of Blues on August 22nd. These dates fill in Alex’s already noteworthy schedule, opening for Foo Fighters on some of their stadium shows.
Alex’s switch to RCA comes after an eight-year run with Domino Recording Company, via whom he released four studio albums: 2015’s Beach Music, 2017’s Rocket, 2019’s House of Sugar, and 2022’s God Save the Animals. Before that, he released his 2014 album Dsu through Orchid Tapes, and before that, he was self-releasing a whole lot of music on Bandcamp.

H.E.R. has released a studio “reinterpretation” of Foo Fighters’ “The Glass,” just three weeks after the two artists performed the song together on Saturday Night Live. The new cover — a “solo” studio recording by H.E.R. — is paired with the original Foo Fighters version for a double A-side single, out today.
“The Glass” originally debuted this past June as the fifth single from Foo Fighters’ latest album, But Here We Are. In October, when the band appeared on Saturday Night Live for the ninth time, they performed it with help from H.E.R., who provided vocals and guitar. Now, H.E.R.’s take on the song has arrived, and trades the hard-hitting rock arrangement of the original for a gentler, ethereal soundscape, with reverberating guitars and layered vocal harmonies. Stream it below.
In addition to being available on streaming services, the double A-side single will be offered on a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl,...

boygenius staged a special Halloween show at the Hollywood Bowl, which included a surprise appearance from Dave Grohl.
The Foo Fighters frontman, wearing corpse paint, joined boygenius on drums for a performance of “Satanist.” For their part, Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, and Phoebe Bridgers were dressed up as the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, respectively.
Tuesday’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl marked boygenius’ final scheduled tour date in support of their debut album, the record. However, they still have one more live performance on the calendar, as they’re set to appear as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live’s November 11th episode with host Timothée Chalamet.

Amsterdam’s The Klittens return with their new single “Universal Experience”, a slice of off-kilter indie-pop that delivers on its title’s promise, providing both universal appeal and a sound that feels fully formed and ready to reach and captivate a wider audience.

Foo Fighters were joined by Shania Twain for a collaborative performance of “Best of You” during the band’s set at Austin City Limits on Saturday night.
After playing her own set earlier in the day, Twain made an unannounced cameo towards the end of Foo Fighters’ headlining performance, dueting with Dave Grohl on the In Your Honor track. Watch fan-captured footage below.

The third day of Lollapalooza 2023 highlighted the big presence of several South Korean acts this year, including Tomorrow x Together headlining for the first time on Saturday (they performed earlier in the day in 2022) and the fest also featured its first-ever K-pop girl group NewJeans on Thursday, marking the group’s first-ever U.S. performance. It also featured great hip-hop sets, including headliner Pusha T.
The day also featured a steady course of rain, which muddied the fields and likely contributed to it feeling not as crowded throughout the day as Thursday and Friday.

Chicago-via-Madison band Slow Pulp presents ‘Doubt,’ the new single from their forthcoming album and Anti- debut, Yard, out September 29th.
Following lead single ‘Slugs’ – which “was made for that hazy and sweet late summer crush” (Nylon) – ‘Doubt’ is taunting and upbeat, a track about begging someone to validate your insecurities. “In my process to fight against self-deprecation, I found this strange new pattern popping up where I fished for critiques from others,” says lead singer Emily Massey. “I wanted people close to me to validate the things I hated about myself. Self-doubt had found a home in me, it felt safer to stay in this familiar negative space than to like myself. I thought if others shared that with me I wouldn’t have to do the work to change.” On Yard, Slow Pulp tackles the process of becoming comfortable with yourself – a balancing act with learning to trust, love,...

As if we needed another reason to like Keanu Reeves, the John Wick star has revealed his fandom for the Canadian indie pop group Alvvays.
“I like me a good pop song, and I like me a kind of inventiveness in it,” Reeves said in a recent interview with NME. “I think the lead singer [Molly Rankin], she’s great, and the textures of it.”
When asked about what he’s been listening to lately, Reeves mentioned the band’s 2022 release Blue Rev, which we named one of our Top 50 Albums of last year. Though he owns it digitally, the actor expressed a strong desire to have it “on LP.” Despite his virtual ownership, he joked about the album being his “favorite album to be.”
“Can I say that? Because I love that band,” he harped. “I mean, I love bass guitar and drums and I like their energy.” Reeves...

In 2016, a 19-year-old Lil Yachty emerged as a fresh-faced, red-haired maverick eagerly planting Generation Z’s flag in hip-hop. Songs like “Minnesota” intrigued many, but rap traditionalists denigrated him as a “mumble rapper” — an upstart who, they claimed, was insulting the essence of hip-hop one warbled vocal run at a time. That didn’t stop Yachty, though. In the years since, he’s kept trying new things, even as many other artists have gotten stuck retreading tired formulas. “Who cares?” he says now. “It’s going to go, or it’s not.

By the time he graduated high school, he’d already bought his mom a house. He caused a mild international incident with his viral hit “Poland,” a loosie released late last year in which he croons, with impossible sincerity, about bringing illegal pharmaceuticals into Poland. One couldn’t imagine a more charmed Gen Z existence. And yet, on “:(failure(:,” an early interlude from his left-turn of a new album,...

As Martin Scorsese once said, “Music and cinema fit together naturally. Because there’s a kind of intrinsic musicality to the way moving images work when they’re put together. It’s been said that cinema and music are very close as art forms, and I think that’s true.” Indeed, the right piece of music–whether it’s an original score or a carefully selected song–can do wonders for a sequence, and today we’re looking at the 25 films that best expressed this notion this year.
From seasoned composers to accomplished musicians, as well as a smattering of soundtracks, each musical example perfectly transported us to the world of the film. Check out our rundown of the top 25, which includes streams to each soundtrack in full.
25. Dark Glasses (Arnaud Rebotini)
24. Catch the Fair One (Nathan Halpern)
23. Barbarian (Anna Drubich)
22. Return to Seoul (Various)
21. Babylon (Justin Hurwitz)

My roundup of the year in cinematic soundtracks is a sonic collage of emotion and sensations, mixed together with both pop and orchestral flourishes. We start off with music from Tár, Todd Field’s return to filmmaking and the story of the renowned conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic (Cate Blanchett). Hildur Guðnadóttir’s concept album features music from within the film and inspired by it, with original pieces alongside beloved works by Elgar and Mahler.Experiencing Memoria at the cinema turned my senses upside down. Here Apichatpong Weerasethakul is in full force, offering a cinematic experience of the sensory. If one were to critique a film based solely on its sonic sensibilities, Memoria achieves the highest embodiment of altered states possible through the marriage of sound and visuals. The realms of human consciousness are Apichatpong's focus and it is through sound design and music that we fall into his world.

Caroline Polachek will hit the road as soon as she drops her new album. On Monday, the pop star announced that she’s set to travel the country to promote her upcoming album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You in the new year, as she released the video for “Welcome to My Island.”
The trippy video, co-directed by Polachek and Matt Copson, sees Polachek fight off sperm, captured inside a cardboard box, spitting lava like a volcano, and engaging in some other head-spinning activities.
“Wrote this song with @dan...

Alex G is a man of few words — at least outside of his songwriting. The musician made his NPR Tiny Desk concert debut with a four-song set backed by a four-piece band and was content to let the music speak for itself. “I don’t have a lot to say,” he shared briefly at one point during the concert before launching into a song.
Alex G’s set chronologically began with back-to-back offerings from his ninth studio album God Save the Animals, released in September. The studio recordings of both...
